Infinite Adaptation: Starting As A Level 1 Slime-Chapter 34: Moon Body
Lunaris sat alone in his private quarters.
He had this room built specifically so he wouldn’t have to stay in the church with that psycho woman.
Just thinking about it...
He sighed heavily.
Well... it’s not important at the moment.
He would try to get through to Roselle slowly. For now, he decided to focus on his own abilities.
If he was stronger, maybe she would actually listen to him. That made growing stronger even more necessary.
Earlier that day, he had received several useful skills from the adventurers. Now seemed like the perfect time to examine them properly.
From Garen, the tank, he had gained Physical Strengthening. It was the most straightforward of all - a simple boost to raw physical power.
As for Yuna and Seria, things were much more complicated. Most of their abilities came as byproducts of their magic rather than standalone skills.
Still, he had managed to extract some useful things.
From Yuna, he obtained Fire Elemental Affinity, Earth Elemental Affinity, Mana Channeling, Mana Efficiency, Mana Recovery, and Dual Casting. There were also the Earth Wall and Fireball spells that he had analyzed directly and converted into skills.
He had initially assumed this might be his limit - that copying spells directly would cap his potential. But it seemed he didn’t need to worry about that.
Since he already possessed the tools through which the product was made, he could simply analyze the magic and attempt to create genuine magic using his elemental affinities. This approach would have no ceiling.
Still, he would continue transforming magic into skills. It was far easier to pass them on to his followers this way, rather than having to teach them actual magic - which would take who knows how long. It also had the added benefit of just working without needing to know spells and chants.
He wondered if a skill would function without its corresponding affinity skill. Maybe there was a dependency. Well, he would figure it out when he tried. If such a dependency existed, he had the affinities too, so he could provide those as well.
Lastly, from Seria, he gained Holy Magic Affinity, Mental Fortitude, and Mana Projection. He had also obtained Telepathy by analyzing her telepathy magic when she used it to share the map of the world with him.
He noticed something strange about Holy Magic Affinity.
It wasn’t like Earth and Fire, which were recognized as elemental. He wondered if it was a special case.
He tried using holy magic.
Nothing happened.
Well, this was to be expected. Having an affinity didn’t necessarily mean he could use the magic - he still needed to learn actual spells.
For Earth and Fire, he didn’t have much of a problem. He had copied Fireball and Earth Wall, which he could reverse-engineer to derive more spells.
But for Holy Magic, he was pretty much stuck. He had no starting point.
He sighed.
Well, I’ll look into it later.
Now that he had a complete understanding of his new skills, it was time to get to work.
He noticed that some of these skills were actually related - not just to each other, but also to his own existing skills. However, they weren’t automatically merging like usual.
It seemed there was a trigger he was missing.
It was the same situation as before. There were compatible skills he possessed that hadn’t merged automatically, even though he considered them compatible. If he could merge them, he might end up with something truly impressive.
He decided to start analyzing the skills to see if he could find a middle ground.
He pushed his mental resources to the limit and began unpacking the first skill along with its potentially compatible counterparts.
Physical Strengthening.
Physical Attack Resistance.
Lunar Body.
Twilight Fur.
Corruption Resistance.
Rapid Regeneration.
Moonlight Cloak.
Fang of Severance.
One by one, he broke them down.
Layer after layer.
Component after component.
His mind strained under the pressure, the complexity of each skill unfolding before him.
The threads that made up the skills intertwined in complex patterns that seemed almost chaotic at first glance.
He pushed harder.
Time lost meaning. Minutes blurred into hours as he continued dissecting the skills down to their most fundamental forms, searching for even the smallest connection point.
His consciousness stretched thin. The sheer volume of information threatened to overwhelm him.
But he didn’t stop.
He couldn’t stop.
His Thought Acceleration stretched thin under the strain - then expanded.
1000x became 1050x.
1050x became 1100x.
1100x became 1200x.
Finally, 1250x.
With this new processing power, his analysis accelerated dramatically.
The patterns became clearer. The connections became visible.
And then...
Something clicked.
[ Congratulations ]
Skill Evolution: Skill Unpacking → Degenerate
[ Congratulations ]
Intrinsic Skill Acquired: Moon Body
[ Congratulations ]
Skill Merge: Moon Body → Infinite Adaptation
Lunaris heard the strange voice once again.
He had succeeded.
He didn’t particularly care about the merge. He had created the skill himself - he knew its exact code and could recreate it whenever he wanted.
This was huge.
After merging all those skills together, the resulting Moon Body was remarkably capable. It provided a massive boost to physical strength, resistance to corruption and physical attacks, rapid regeneration, an enhanced growth rate, and various other minor abilities.
It was basically an improved version of all the merged abilities combined into one.
But why had it been absorbed into Infinite Adaptation?
Hmm... maybe it’s because of the enhanced growth rate.
Infinite Adaptation seemed to like that sort of thing.
Wait.
Maybe...
He instantly created the Moon Body skill through Skill Creation.
Just like before, it was absorbed into Infinite Adaptation.
Hmm... I don’t sense anything different.
It seemed he couldn’t exploit this bug.
He sighed.
Well, no matter.
He had gotten what he was looking for. This Moon Body ability was going to become the signature ability of their tribe.
It was an intrinsic ability that formed the basis upon which all else could be placed. He could think of it as a starter pack.
He smiled.
He could even keep refining it, creating different versions. Maybe reward everyone with this as a blessing. Have a Version 2, Version 3, and so on - each with more features as rewards for contributing to the tribe.
He stopped himself.
Maybe I’m thinking too far ahead.
