Infinite Adaptation: Starting As A Level 1 Slime-Chapter 35: Skills, Skills, And Skills
He finally turned his attention to the other evolved ability.
Skill Unpacking had evolved into Degenerate.
Degenerate was essentially an advanced version of Unpacking. It basically did exactly what its name suggested - allowing him to degenerate complex structures into the simple properties that comprised them.
With this macro, working on skills was going to be much easier.
He stared at the next batch of compatible skills.
He noticed Mana Recovery among them.
How did I forget this?
He merged it with Rapid Regeneration, which now existed under Infinite Adaptation.
[ Congratulations ]
Skill Merge: Mana Recovery + Rapid Regeneration → Ultraspeed Regeneration
That fast? It seemed Degenerate was no joke.
Could also be because it was just two skills compared to eight but still...
He paused.
Maybe it’s okay that I forgot to add this to the initial batch.
He could bundle this with the advanced Version 2 of Moon Body.
He nodded to himself.
Yeah, that sounds great.
He turned his attention to the other skills.
[ Congratulations ]
Skill Merge: Mana Efficiency + Mana Channeling + Mana Manipulation + Dual Casting → Master of Mana (Unique Skill)
Another extremely overpowered skill.
This particular skill boosted his mana recovery, allowed him to parallel cast, and also permitted him to cast magic without chanting.
His haul today had been quite good. He was already feeling overpowered. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
He calmed himself.
These are just tools. I still have yet to obtain actual substance.
He turned his attention back to the compatible skills and continued.
[ Congratulations ]
Skill Merge: Telepathy + Mana Projection + Mental Fortitude + Intimidation + Pack Coordination → Thought Communication
Another useful one.
It was similar to basic Telepathy, allowing him to form a mental link with someone and communicate over long distances.
Unlike the original telepathy magic, this link was stable and persistent - requiring no mana expenditure even across extremely vast distances, unless facing interference.
Another useful feature was its ability to project his will onto surrounding individuals, intimidating them if they possessed weaker mental fortitude than him.
This would definitely be useful for avoiding trouble.
He continued merging.
[ Congratulations ]
Skill Merge: Mana Slash + Spider Thread → Mana Thread
Mana Thread was similar to Spider Thread, but now he could enhance it with mana to form extremely powerful threads that could even cut like Mana Slash.
He didn’t know when he might need this, but it was useful nonetheless.
And at last, he observed the final batch of skills.
These he had gained from the person spying on them earlier.
Dark Elemental Affinity.
Concealment.
Disguise.
Concealment?
Wasn’t that the ability the tank had been using?
Hmm... how come I didn’t get it from him?
After some thought, he arrived at a plausible conclusion.
Maybe the tank didn’t actually possess the ability himself. Maybe he had used an item instead.
He remembered that massive shield. It had seemed a little strange.
He sighed.
I should have paid more attention to items too.
Well, he still obtained the ability regardless.
Then he noticed something else.
Dark Elemental Affinity?
He wondered if this was the opposite of Holy Magic.
Then... the person watching them earlier - was she after the saintess and her group for something else entirely?
He paused.
No, maybe I’m overthinking it.
Holy Magic wasn’t elemental. But Dark was.
Maybe there was a Light element that served as the opposite of Dark.
That would mean Holy Magic was a special case.
He remembered the only other mana-like substance that wasn’t elemental.
That’s it.
Abyssal energy.
That had to be the opposite of Holy Magic.
He calmed down slightly.
Yeah, that has to be it.
With a sigh of relief, he made his final merge.
Disguise was absorbed into Shapeshifting, improving it slightly.
...
Lunaris observed his skills.

Then he noticed his rank.
Hmm?
D Rank.
Is this thing actually broken?
How was he still considered D Rank? Yuna was a C Rank. Was he considered weaker than her?
He decided not to worry about it.
At that moment, he noticed something.
A presence. Multiple presences, actually. Gathered just outside his door.
He rose from his seat and walked over, pushing the door open.
A crowd of rabbit beastmen knelt before his quarters, their heads bowed in prayer. Their ears were folded flat against their heads in reverence.
"What are you guys doing?" he asked.
Roselle stepped forward from the front of the group.
"We were performing our morning prayer, my Lord."
"Morning?"
Lunaris glanced toward the horizon. The sun was just beginning to rise.
It seemed he had been so engrossed in his skills that he had completely lost track of time.
"Don’t you have the church for that?" he asked.
Roselle shook her head slightly.
"The church is too small to accommodate everyone, my Lord. Besides..." She gestured toward him. "The Lord is here, so it is more effective to simply pray to you directly."
Lunaris sighed.
Then his gaze fell upon a familiar figure among the crowd.
Luna was kneeling with the rest of them, her hands clasped together in prayer.
"Luna, come here."
She perked up immediately and bounded over to his side.
He looked at Roselle.
"Don’t teach Luna strange things."
Roselle’s expression shifted to one of being wronged.
"My Lord, this is unjust. The Young Moon noticed our deep devotion and wished to join us of her own accord."
Lunaris patted Luna’s head gently.
"Don’t learn strange things from that strange woman," he told her.
"Strange woman?" Roselle’s lips twitched.
Luna tilted her head.
"It’s not strange woman," she said innocently. "It’s Roselle."
Roselle’s expression transformed into one of immense pride.
Lunaris stared down at Luna with an expression of utter betrayal.
This kid...
