Infinite Game - Start With SSS Rank Class-Chapter 113: Night Parade of a Hundred Demons (4)
Rover, Nanoe, Morie, and Monica all stared at the TV. On the screen were small tiles, each showing footage fed by the security cameras.
Morie had installed the cameras so they could observe as many key locations as possible.
Rover frowned when, within the thick fog opposite the main gate of Block C, a bizarre figure appeared.
A skeleton over two meters tall, draped in a black robe, holding a scythe like the Grim Reaper.
Black miasma seeped off its body. Even through the camera feed, Rover could feel the chill, the evil, and the death radiating from that aberrant creature.
A lantern hung from the scythe. It looked like the one Otrix used to carry, but it did not emit blue light. Instead, it glowed blood-red.
Then behind it came zombies, but unlike before, they weren’t moving in a frenzy.
Right now, they formed two neat lines, slowly entering the building.
That Grim Reaper-like living creature simply stood at the entrance, holding up the lantern on its scythe, the lantern’s blood-red light strangely eerie.
Woo... Ah...
Oh... ugh...
Low, muffled wails echoed as the zombies, as if hypnotized, slowly moved into the lobby, then began climbing the stairs.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Gunshots rang out as the defense towers in front of the first-floor rooms immediately opened fire on the zombies.
Only... the zombies seemed to not care at all, continuing forward.
When a zombie died, it immediately turned into ash and completely vanished. The zombies behind kept advancing, as if they had only one purpose: to reach the [Destination Point].
Nanoe frowned. "Strange. These zombies don’t seem to have any intention of attacking any rooms. It’s like they only want to reach the [Destination Point]."
Morie nodded. "Exactly. Even though it looks simple right now, I think the difficulty will keep ramping up."
Rover agreed. He didn’t believe this round was going to be nothing but weak zombies.
You had to know that Round 1 already had mutated zombies, and there were even souls with terrifying power.
For Rover, this was Round 2. The difficulty definitely wouldn’t be lower than Round 1.
Rover opened the chat panel. Sure enough, everyone was thinking the same thing.
....
XXX: Just zombies? I can defend against this for days without any real problem.
XXX: Are you stupid? This is only the beginning. If it were that simple, then Floors 1 and 2 would be enough to defend.
XXX: Exactly! The difficulty will definitely keep increasing. First zombies, then mutated zombies, then it’ll definitely be other higher-tier monsters.
XXX: We still better be careful.
XXX: While these monsters aren’t strong yet, we should kill as many as possible and farm as many points as we can.
XXX: Fuck! Have you thought about the people living on Floors 8, 9, 10? You picked Floor 7 as the [Destination Point]. Now Floors 1, 2, 3 get all the benefits, while Floors 8, 9, 10 don’t even get a single monster spawning.
XXX: Hahahaha... voting was voluntary. Didn’t you vote for Floor 7 too? Who are you blaming now?
XXX: Sigh! If I’d known it’d be like this, I would’ve just bought a room on a lower floor and at least gotten some points from these zombies.
XXX: Don’t worry. Later, when the monsters get stronger, the guys downstairs will injure them, and we can enjoy the fruits of their labor, hahahaha...
XXX: Fuck! When we run into strong monsters, I’ll just reclaim my defense towers.
XXX: Oy! Why are you so stingy? You’ve eaten your fill, at least leave me and everyone else some soup.
XXX: Bastard! Eat shit! When we run into monsters that are too strong, I’ll just shut my defense towers down. Eat shit!
XXX: Stop arguing. Everyone should unite. If we fail this round, we... all won’t have a good ending.
XXX: That’s right! We need to unite too.
XXX: Eat shit!
XXX: Fuck! Which room are you in? I’ll come right now and tear down all your defense towers.
XXX: Eat shit!
XXX: AGH!!!
....
Rover looked at the chat, which had completely turned into a chaotic mess, and let out a sigh.
He also observed that the defense towers in the rooms on Floors 1, 2, and 3 were nowhere near as strong as the defense towers he owned.
By the time the zombies reached Floor 2, nearly all of them had been wiped out.
After thinking for a moment, he still decided to take out the [Survival Guide] and read it.
Just as he expected, on the [Survival Guide], the old information had completely disappeared, replaced by new information about this [Night Parade of a Hundred Demons] round.
He suddenly thought of Sunny. If Sunny found out the [Survival Guide] could be used multiple times like this, would he regret it so hard he’d spit a mouthful of blood?
...
"Achoo!!"
Somewhere in the fog, Sunny sneezed. He rubbed his nose, frowned, and muttered, "Weird, did I catch a cold?"
He noticed the system notification saying the next round had begun, but he didn’t care. Right now, he had found something more interesting to do.
His eyes fixed on the dilapidated building in front of him, over ten stories tall, looking like it had been abandoned for decades. The upper floors had completely collapsed.
Instead, on top of the building was a gigantic tree. Its trunk was over a hundred meters tall, and its canopy emitted a strange green glow.
The scene was like the moment a protagonist discovered a new world in a fantasy novel.
Dreamlike and mystical.
"Hahahaha... Thanks to my parents for naming me Sunny." Sunny held the old lantern in his hand and laughed. "I... really am the Protagonist, the chosen one, hehehe..."
...
Inside a room on the first floor.
A brown-haired man wearing black-rimmed glasses, with a well-proportioned build and the aura of a successful businessman. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Beside him were three others: one man and two women.
One woman spoke up, "Felix, what should we do next?"
Felix pushed up his glasses and looked outside through the screen in front of him.
Of course, that screen could only observe the area in front of the door and within two meters around it.
Felix rubbed his chin, then said, "You all keep trying to kill as many monsters outside as possible."
He looked toward the bespectacled man sitting cross-legged beside him in a posture more typical of a woman, and his face twitched.
"Alan! Can you sit properly for once?" Felix gritted his teeth.
That man was Alan, Nanoe’s husband. No, Nanoe’s ex-husband.
Alan glanced at Felix, contempt flashing across his face. "Big brother, in this place I’m free. Why should I restrain myself like before?"
Felix pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, not knowing what to do.
Back when he arrived in this world, he had thought he was the only one who got dragged here.
Until two days ago, when he found Alan.
At that time, that bastard Alan was clinging to the arm of a bald, muscular young man, nuzzling against him like a baby bird.
Seeing that, Felix wasn’t just shocked to the extreme, he nearly threw up.
He never imagined that his successful younger brother, who had once married a wife so beautiful it made him jealous, was... gay.
Felix stared at Alan, teeth clenched. "I’ll say it one more time. Sit properly!"
Alan pouted, looking like a sulky woman, and adjusted into a more masculine sitting posture. But his hands rested on his thighs, his chin slightly lifted, lips pursed, and he swayed with more affectation than any woman.
"Blegh!"
One of the two women suddenly puked.
Alan: "..."
That woman waved her hand and hurriedly said, "Maybe I ate something unclean this morning, so I feel nauseous right now."
Alan felt that line was strangely familiar. Veins bulged on his forehead.
Felix shouted, "Enough! Focus! We strengthen our defense and kill as many monsters as we can."
The other woman spoke up, "Master, even though we can collect a lot of points right now, if the monsters keep getting stronger, doing this will let the upper floors enjoy the fruits of our work. After all... ammo for defense towers isn’t cheap."
Felix nodded. "You’re right, but that’s also part of my plan."
Everyone looked at him with confused eyes.
He continued, "I’ve contacted the others on Floors 1, 2, and 3. They’ve approved my plan."
"First, we just need to defend as hard as we can and kill as many monsters as possible. Ideally, we make it so the later floors don’t even have monsters left to kill."
"That way, it’ll give the Survivors on the higher floors, especially the [Destination Floor], the impression that this round isn’t difficult. Until..."
At this moment, an icy smile appeared on Felix’s face. He said, "Until we can’t defend anymore, and the defense towers’ damage no longer matters. Then we immediately reclaim all the defense towers."
"At that point, a huge wave of extremely powerful monsters will wipe out all the Survivors on the upper floors."
Hearing that, everyone sucked in a breath. They hadn’t expected Felix could come up with a plan like this.
At this moment, one woman in the group suddenly asked, "Master! What if the plan fails?"
"Don’t worry, I still have this!" Felix laughed and pulled out a card, holding it up in front of everyone, making them all jump.
