Infinite Origin Summoner:Rise of Good for Nothing Extra-Chapter 32: ultimate battle of fate
If his memory was correct, the main story started when the elder brother of the protagonist, Brian Dreamwalker, did not return home. For the first time in years, Arthur Dreamwalker celebrated his birthday alone.
As for why he was not able to return—because he died in some random dungeon. Whether it was this dungeon, Zarek wasn’t sure.
Then his eyes slowly drifted toward Brian standing straight as a spear.
Although he looked calm and composed on the surface, Zarek could tell he was not doing well.
He was just like an injured lion, showing his might.
Maybe it really is the place where Brian Dreamwalker died.
Just then, Brian asked, his eyebrows raised into an arch: "Mr. Silversword, I don’t see your party anywhere. By any reason, are you lost?"
A forced smile immediately appeared on Zarek’s face and he shook his head.
Seeing this reaction, Brian became even more confused, then something seemed to occur to him and he suspiciously asked:
"Don’t tell me you are lost..."
However, Zarek still shook his head, and the conversation continued, but each time, Brian made even more bold assumptions. Hearing them, Zarek didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
So, unable to continue any longer, Misery Prime simply stated his master’s intention: "Neither am I lost, nor did my party betray me. Just like you, I prefer fighting alone."
To avoid the follow-up question, Zarek specifically focused on the "I" part.
Realizing something, Brian immediately fell silent, no longer questioning.
Next moment his face turned indifferent as a sculpture and he solemnly said:
"Then you better prepare yourself."
Zarek wasn’t also in the mood to talk. His dark eyes slowly focused on the large entrance at the center.
More than an entrance, it looked like a rift leading to another world. Without even focusing, he could hear the ghostly murmurs echoing everywhere.
Zarek’s eyes couldn’t stop himself from unconsciously narrowing. He didn’t know why, but the moment his gaze had landed on the rift...
Brian watched warily from a distance with an uncertain look. As someone who had traveled far and wide, he of course had heard about the Silversword family. Not just that, he even had dealings with them, purchasing large amounts of equipment in bulk and even a set of armor for his little brother.
If he wasn’t wrong, then this dark-haired young man must be the youngest son of the Silversword family—Zarek Silversword.
Thinking up to this point, he couldn’t stop himself from muttering: "But wasn’t he just an average individual?"
This was not some rumor but proven fact. From what he knew, the current head of the Silversword family, Zarek’s father, had even publicly announced he didn’t think his youngest son was capable enough to lead the family, and was grooming his elder son to be the next leader.
Of course, Brian didn’t care about the internal politics of the Silversword family. What confused him was, this young man in front of him was clearly above average. If this young man was average, then all the geniuses he had met so far would be nothing but trash.
Brian’s eyes stayed on Zarek, following him directly in front of the rift.
Zarek didn’t know what was going through Brian’s head as he couldn’t read other people’s minds. If he could, it would be exciting to know what he thought about this new identity.
Does this rift lead to some glacier or what...
Zarek mused, as the random gusts of wind blowing out of the rift were sending chills running down his spine.
Curious, he extended his index finger toward it, intending to poke it with his hand.
Brian could tell what Zarek wanted to do, so he shook his head while saying: "Don’t bother trying. I have tried several times to enter but failed every time. It appears this is only a one-way rift..."
However, suddenly Brian stopped speaking, his mouth hanging wide open. His eyes looked as if they were about to pop out of their sockets.
Then a shocked exclamation followed:
"How is this possible..."
Zarek stood there indifferently examining his hand which was halfway across the rift, his expression clinically curious: "Hmm, it seems I can also enter."
Then suddenly he felt movement behind him, and like a ghost, Brian Dreamwalker materialized beside him. Just like Zarek, Brian also moved his hand toward the rift, but just as he made contact with it, an invisible force seemed to block him.
This was Zarek’s turn to be surprised. Next moment, he asked Misery to come over and try to put his hand inside the rift.
Like a loyal summon he was, Misery immediately did as he was told, but to no surprise, Misery was also blocked by whatever force that was blocking Brian.
Just as he was thinking, a blue window popped in front of him out of nowhere:
[Ultimate class holder detected!]
[Initiating the protocol...!]
[Please prepare yourself, the ultimate battle of fate will begin in thirty minutes]
Next moment, the window disappeared, leaving behind a golden hourglass filled with crimson sand.
Seeing these prompts, countless questions popped inside Zarek’s head.
What the hell? What was this ultimate battle of fate? He had no idea what the hell it was, nor was there a mention about it in the book anywhere.
Even Arthur Dreamwalker who had the ultimate grade class didn’t face any such challenge... Suddenly Zarek remembered something. In the later part of the story, there was indeed an instance similar to now, but the author hadn’t bothered elaborating.
His shocked reaction didn’t escape unnoticed. Brian Dreamwalker was closely looking at every change in his expression, and knew something was wrong.
As such, while keeping a close eye on Zarek’s facial expression, he asked.
Zarek also got out of his thoughts and could feel Brian’s gaze and sighed internally.
He knew there was no escaping, so he sighed once again and conveyed his thoughts to Misery Prime.
"Master has no idea what the hell is going on, but it seems that he will be transported inside the rift in half an hour."
