Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1149: Arena
After following the left path, the corridor turned to the right side and kept going for a while. Rain kept looking for traps to see anything out of the norm, like traps, but he didn't find anything out of place.
"I thought that seeing someone falling into traps would be something the enemies would enjoy seeing," Rain thought.
Before long, Rain found a large stone door ahead, and as he got closer, the door suddenly opened upward and revealed a new area, it was an open space. While squinting his eyes, Rain left the corridor and soon found himself looking around.
The open space revealed itself to be an expansive arena with towering walls that rose at least thirty meters into the air. The vastness of the area stretched for a kilometer in both length and width. Massive pillars were sporadically placed, creating an almost surreal and relatively ancient landscape within the enclosed space.
As Rain traversed the area, he suddenly heard a low grunt coming from the side. Instinctively, he turned to face the source of the noise and saw a goblin leaping towards him. The creature, with its greenish skin and menacing snarl, moved with surprising agility.
His first instinct was to split the monster in half with the ominous sword, but soon Rain pointed the wand toward the monster's head and used Mana Bullet. The projectile hit the head of the creature and made it stop in the air. The goblin fell on the ground and trembled while moving from one side to the other holding its forehead.
Although the goblin wasn't part of the problem, Rain still smashed its head with an axe kick in order to relieve some of his stress. It didn't help, and he only felt worse afterwards, thanks to the blood and the feeling of a skull cracking.

"There are more coming," Elisabetha said.
Rain looked around and saw more goblins moving from the backs of the pillars to attack Rain… he was pretty sure that they hadn't been there a second ago, but Rain didn't have time to worry about that.
"There are more than I should be able to handle at level one with this kind of system… those who chose the wand will be in a hard spot," Rain thought.
Following the magic path would be difficult since they could only use magic and fighting with their fists would be difficult for most people unless they had experience with that.
In any case, the parameters were still low for everyone, and they were all the same, so perhaps not everything was lost. Rain used all the remaining mana that he was supposed to have with that path and then stored away the wand. Three goblins charged at him with their hands raised, but Rain effortlessly passed through their formation and then smashed the head of another goblin with his knee.
He did the same thing over and over until all the monsters that had fallen had been dealt with.

"Are you really going to play their games?" Elisabetha asked.
"We need more information, and I am also trying to understand how this system works," Rain said. "I am not sure if the paths system is modeled after this or the other way around, but we should be able to use it as well."
Five goblins were left, and to make things easier for him, Rain increased his strength with the points. When those beasts arrived, Rain didn't hesitate in smashing their faces with a right straight… they were all killed with a single hit, but Rain's hands suffered some damage as well. The skin had been peeled, and it was bleeding quite a bit.

…
"And that is why you shouldn't punch foreheads," Rain said and then looked around. "What next? This should be the time when the enemies will force me to fight one of the others."
Before long, Rain heard the sound of a wall moving on his right side, and then he proceeded toward it. He found another area similar to the other one, and he also saw another person on the other side of the area… it was almost anti-climactic. Regardless, Rain couldn't recognize the person… his clothes were also weird.
No one in the vessel wore clothes made of fur that looked like the ones cavemen would wear.
(Before heading to the next area, you need to choose. Both participants can choose between fighting each other or a special monster. Do you wish to face the special monster? Y/N)
"I am pretty sure that guy isn't someone from the vessel…" Elisabetha said.
The vessel had humans, demi-humans, and the sea folk, and while that guy looked quite human, it was hard to imagine that he was a prisoner from another place as well… maybe it was from another group that also messed with the enemies or got in their way…
"... Well, I guess it wouldn't happen so fast," Rain thought and then chose Yes.
(Your opponent wants to fight you, so you will fight him first and then fight the special monster alone, and if you survive!)
Rain clenched his fists, feeling the familiar surge of anger welling up within him. The voice in his head seemed to amplify his frustration, becoming an unbearable screeching voice. The shadows started to dance on the edge of his vision, threatening to engulf his consciousness.
Not willing to succumb to the wrath that lingered within him, Rain forced himself to concentrate on the opponent. The strange individual had swiftly taken cover behind one of the massive pillars with a bow in hand. The situation had escalated quickly, and Rain knew he needed to keep his emotions in check if he wanted to navigate this predicament successfully.
