After moving for a while, Rain found some giant frogs blocking his path… they were only half of his size, but they had powerful tongues that could grab his limbs and pull him. At first, he just pierced those with the arrows while keeping them in their hands, but soon, he changed his strategy when Elisabetha informed him of the news.

"The presence of the relics got weaker, a lot weaker," Elisabetha said. "It seems that they moved from this area already."

Rain stopped to think for a moment. Those who had the relics were Roan, Terra, Liss, Sealyn, and Seara. The other relics were emitting too-weak signs for Elisabetha to pick them up, so those guys were moving quite fast… Rain couldn't imagine Roan and Liss being that hasty… unless they were truly worried about the others.

"If the enemies see them as a threat, I guess I will have to catch up with them as soon as possible," Rain said and then sighed. "Let's hope that this won't backfire us splendidly…"

Rain's decision to be more cautious came from the recent incidents that caught them off guard. The unexpected challenges they faced emphasized the need for increased vigilance, and even more so when they didn't have enough intel.

However, the urgency to catch up with the others added a layer of trouble to Rain's decision-making. Despite the need for caution, the synchronized movements of his allies suggested a coordinated effort, and falling behind could jeopardize their overall strategy. It was a delicate balance between prudence and the necessity to keep pace with the group.

He started by expanding his domain, and that allowed Rain to gain a better sense of the surrounding area. Using Impulse, he scanned the vicinity for potential threats. The giant frogs blocking his path became small targets.

His combat skills were on full display as he unleashed a series of powerful kicks. The impact of each strike was amplified by his enhanced abilities, causing the frogs to explode in midair. This not only eliminated the immediate threat but also showcased Rain's determination to face the challenges head-on.

Before long, Rain suddenly heard a trembling in the distance and then the sound of water moving. When he went to check the place, he saw a giant frog with a crown at the top of his head standing on a massive leaf.

"Fuck you," Rain said and then used Impulse once more and punched the beast.

Soon enough, Rain felt another tremor, and then he went in the opposite direction of his starting point and he found another door made out of shadows, which he crossed immediately.

"I feel several presences around, and they aren't from monsters," Elisabetha said.

It seemed that they weren't Rain's friends and companions either since Elisabetha didn't say that. Regardless, he didn't have to worry about them because the scenarios changed once again. It looked like Rain was in the Pokemon League when the fighting arenas would change all the time…

Now he was in the middle of a rocky desert… the same thing was everything, nothing, aside from rocks and the heat that was starting to build up. There weren't many places to hide, but people there wanted to do that.

"Are the others still here?" Rain asked.

"Their presence is stronger, but they don't seem closer," Elisabetha said. "We can't use this kind of information to think when we will find them. The enemies probably set this up to make sure that we won't reunite with them anytime soon."

Elisabetha had a point, but Rain still felt his head aching… in the end, he truly couldn't confirm or not if the enemies were watching him or not. Regardless, there was no time to keep thinking about that.

Once again, Rain moved around while using Impulse and soon found his first target behind one rock… The first target looked as if he hadn't enjoyed a decent meal in months. His showed frame that was draped in tattered rags that barely clung to his frail form.

The sunburns on his skin told a tale of repeated scorching under the relentless desert sun, leaving his complexion marked with painful-looking burns.

As Rain materialized in front of him with the suddenness of a storm, the fear etched across the man's face became palpable. His eyes widened, reflecting a mix of terror and desperation, realizing that he had been discovered by an adversary whose presence was far more deadly than the harsh desert surroundings.

The harsh reality of the situation seemed to grip him, and he quivered, paralyzed by the immediate threat standing before him.

In the end, Rain hesitated for a moment… that guy wasn't one of his enemies; it was another prisoner like the other that Rain had killed before, but soon that guy swung a bone spear toward Rain's neck with all his might and almost hit him… Rain grabbed the spear in his hands, and he felt the skin being burned… After closing his eyes for a moment, Rain pierced the heart of the man with his hand.

Rain took another deep breath as he pulled out his hand. The blood was hot, and Rain felt that it was still pulsating… it was definitely his imagination. Perhaps his guilt made him feel that way.

It wasn't like the first time Rain killed something much weaker than him; he killed monsters that were many times weaker than him, but he truly felt horrible like never before. He felt sick to his stomach…

"They look human, but they definitely aren't…" Elisabetha said. "Well, that is to be expected." frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

When Rain looked at the corpse, he saw it transforming into a mummy in a matter of seconds… Rain didn't know the cause of that, but he couldn't disagree with Elisabetha's statement. Still, at least the situation gave him another idea… one that certainly would surprise the enemies.
