Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1550: True colors
Chapter 1550: True colors
The dragon god recovered when Rain landed on the ground and while he waited for a continuation of the attack, nothing happened. He just turned to look at him... still unable to explain the sudden speed that even surpassed his who had already maxed out all the skills of the temporal path.
"You said that you kept an eye on me after I returned, right?" Rain asked. "No wonder something like this would surprise you. You wouldn’t understand anything that I learned and used before that time, then."
The Dragon god couldn’t help but scowl. He didn’t like to hear that Rain implied that he was no different from the machine gods, that he only learned what was convenient for him, and that he was unable to use his creativity or find solutions to difficult problems.
Rain didn’t have time for games, so he decided to move around so fast that, at some point, he had thousands of afterimages. He was just using Impulse with time magic and increasing its potential almost endlessly, and it was almost like he was in two places at the same time.
"What do you think?" Rain asked.
"You certainly are getting carried away," The dragon god said, and then his aura began to change.
Even though he was moving so fast, the dragon god suddenly appeared in front of Rain and then smashed him with speed even beyond before... his charge had been so fast that they crossed dozens of kilometers in a single instant and Rain felt his back almost burning thanks to the friction against the air... it seemed that such a thing only happens when crossing large distances in a straight line.
"Don’t mess with me," The dragon god said.
"That is like telling me not to breathe," Rain said.
The dragon god kicked Rain and then made him fall on the ground, creating a path of destruction as his body left a mark on the surface of the planet. Despite that, Rain got up quite fast and then healed the scratches on his body.
"That was the power of Hermes boots, huh," Rain said. "You can use them with the spirit aspect without showing the relic, or did you eat the relic and absorb the spirit?"
"I will leave that to your imagination," The dragon god said.
"Careful, you are showing your true colors," Rain said. "Anyway, what are you going to be forced to show next? Probably Athena’s shield if I use the same technique I used against Lonos."
The dragon god raised his guard and then went silent... he also knew very well that things could get complicated if Rain were to use that technique. The power of the shield was simple; it could deflect any attack that the user could understand, but Rain knew that, and he could change that technique to satisfy his needs... with his ever-evolving strength and skills, there was no telling what that technique could become next.
"You will regret making me this mad," The dragon god declared, and then his aura changed once again.
The dragon god opened its nine mouths, each emanating a distinct elemental power. From one mouth emerged a sphere of roaring flames, while another exuded a swirling vortex of air. Earth materialized from a third mouth, solid and steadfast, while the water cascaded forth from another in a shimmering orb. Lightning crackled from yet another, accompanied by bursts of electric energy, while ice formed in a chilling sphere from the next. Light radiated from one mouth, illuminating the surroundings, while darkness pooled from another, shrouding everything in shadow. Finally, a ninth mouth produced a sphere of pure energy pulsating with raw power. Together, these spheres represented the fundamental elements of creation and destruction, each embodying its own unique force of nature.
Before long, the dragon god unleashed his power, but nothing came out of his mouth... on the other hand, Rain began to shake as his body began to be damaged. His body began to burn, freeze, be electrocuted, sliced, and smashed...
"Ares’... Spear," Rain muttered.
Rain began to use Full Heal much faster than before to counter the damage, but the start was rough, and it got even harder... the light magic decreased the effects of his spells and defense, the dark magic made his body heavier, and soon it began to crush under the weight of his own body.
It was clear that Rain had to use something else to even things out, even if just a bit... using the power of the other aspects would do the trick... However, just much like Lonos knew that he had to break Rain’s spirit to defeat him, Rain knew that he had to break the spirit of the dragon god first and forest most...
Rain grunted with all his might and then ignored the pain while assuming his fighting stance... the dragon god felt the danger since it was the same stance that Rain used to kill Lonos, and then when Rain began to move his fist, the dragon god changed his aura and the attacks changed.
In the next moment, Rain punched the ground so hard that it felt like the entire planet was screaming in pain... he didn’t charge the attack fully, but his fist was completely evaporated. The dragon god clicked his tongue in annoyance for falling for that...
"It seems that you can’t use their power all at once... hehe," Rain said. "That is good to know. I take it that they didn’t go down that easily, even if you had the Powers of spirit and information aspect."
As long as Rain knew that, he would have a clear way to fight the dragon god since he knew what each weapon could do. Hermes boots granted the wearer five hundred percent speed, Athena’s shield granted defense against known attacks, Ares’s spear granted the user the chance to attack the enemy no matter where they are without moving from their spot, Aphrodite’s mirror granted the user the power to copy the skills of the enemies, one at a time and the Dyonisus Thyrsus granted the user complete sustenance at all times.
Out of those five, four could be a problem, and the dragon god already used three... he should have his own tricks, but it was hard to imagine that they would be that effective against Rain.
"Begone," the dragon god said and then made a rain of meteors fall on Rain.
The area cracked with power and shook for a while as the dust and the destruction spread in the area, but when the dragon god stopped the attack, he still found Rain standing with his arms crossed and completely unfazed.
"It is flashy, but it won’t work anymore," Rain said. "How about you cause a supernova to kill me, as you said before?"
The dragon god eyebrows twitched and then he swung down his head... even before he could reach Rain, the attack hit him and smashed Rain against the ground. Still, the damage had been minimal.
"It seems that they are getting closer. You are truly out of time..." Rain said.
Rain’s defenses increased a lot and soon the dragon god realized the cause of it... the former lords were approaching the area and their presence boosted Rain’s strength.
The dragon god moved his head to attack them from a distance, but Rain created entrances to his pocket dimension and then made them escape before the attack could happen... his strength decreased, and the dragon god noticed that, but he didn’t care.
"I wonder if you obtained the transcendental path as well, you should know what other cards I have aside from that one," Rain said.
"The tricks of a weakling that needs help from others mean nothing to me," the dragon god said.
"Wow, so edgy... I guess I was the same when I was reincarnated in this world. I wonder if the overseer picked us because of that," Rain said.
