Chapter 270: First Ability

Apart from these abilities, there were other abilities that Michael was much more interested in.

Surveillance Sight: It allowed one to see and hear through the senses of anyone inside a certain range. Price: 85 SP.

Thought Broadcast: It can force a single message into every mind in the city at once. Price: 100 SP.

Parallel Mind: Allows one to run multiple full thought processes at the same time without loss of focus. Price: 76 SP.

Collective Link: Can connect thousands of minds into one shared network under the user’s control. Price: 112 SP.

Psychic Clone: Can create fully functional mental projections that can think and act independently. Price: 90 SP.

Advanced Telepathy: Allows one to read and speak to thousands at once. Price: 88 SP.

Advanced Telekinesis: Allows one to control matter with their thoughts, e.g.; vehicles, debris, structures. Price: 85 SP.

By this point, Michael was not really sure what concept the system used to categorize the abilities and the prices.

Regardless, looking at all these abilities, just imagining having one, it would already be shocking. What would happen if he actually possessed all of them at the same time?

Just the thought of this was frightening. It was not that he was frightened possessing the skills himself, it was just that, what would happen if he encountered someone like that?

If he encountered someone that could directly read through his memories, would the system not be exposed? Unless the system had counter measures for this, it would be inevitably exposed. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

And at that time, things would get much more complicated, especially if he could not deal with the enemy.

At this point, the confidence that Michael was previously having vanished. Instead, it was replaced with urgency.

While in this world, the study of the mutation serum was still backward, with only grade A serum produced, and still having problems, who could say about what existed outside this world?

If there were more advanced civilizations out there, if they decided to attack, what would he even do?

That was especially if it was the civilization behind this system. He was not sure if the system would also turn against him at that time, but for those that were capable of creating a system like this, one could already imagine their capabilities.

Regardless, as Michael focused on the abilities that he could acquire, he thought about which one to acquire first.

He felt kind of relieved, as his body could handle multiple abilities at the same time. If he was limited like the other normal people, with only a single ability in his entire life, how would he even start choosing?

It took Michael quite a while to go through the abilities. After all, the abilities listed above were not the only ones available at grade SSS. They were actually almost a hundred of them!

Finally, after thinking for quite a while, he decided on one. Psychic clone, it was the ability that he decided to acquire first.

According to the description of the ability in the system store, this ability could allow one to be able to create fully functional mental projections that could think and act independently.

The reason why Michael decided to acquire this ability was quite simple. He thought, was it possible for him to be able to use the clones in order to be able to acquire more SP?

If it really worked, that would be amazing, and he would be able to rack up much more SP in a short time.

Of course, he would not have decided to try this out if the system had given him the response. He had already tried to ask the system if it was possible, but he received no response from the system at all.

This left him helpless, and had no other choice but to try it out. Luckily, it was not as though if he picked this skill, he could not pick another one.

As soon as he thought of that, he quickly completed the purchase, paying the required SP. As his SP balance reduced by 90 SP, there was a flash of light before right in his right hand’s palm, a small glass tube appeared.

This tube, looking no different from a lab’s test tube, with a cork. As for the contents, it was silver with golden spots inside.

As he removed the cork, Michael realized that the serum was completely odorless. And, the liquid itself was kind of viscous, unlike the evolution serum, which was extremely light like water.

Michael did not hesitate much, as he went towards the bathroom of his bedroom. This was just in case...

After getting inside the bathroom, Michael did not waste much time, as he gulped the content of the test tube.

The serum was tasteless, but it was kind of cold as it poured into his mouth. And as his swallowed, he felt a cold sensation as the serum continuously flowed down his throat.

After making sure that he had drunk everything within the test tube, he placed the taste tube on the sink in the bathroom, before he began waiting for the changes to happen.

But for a few seconds, nothing really happened. It was as though he had just drunk water, and as expected, nothing would happen, right?

But just as Michael was still puzzled, seconds after he had taken the serum, a deep pressure formed behind his eyes, spreading through his skull like an expanding weight that pressed against the inside of his head.

His body temperature rose by a small but noticeable degree, while his pulse quickened, and each heartbeat sent a faint vibration through his temples. His breathing became shallow as his nervous system shifted into a heightened state.

The reaction focused almost entirely on his brain. Neural activity spiked beyond normal human limits as billions of neurons fired in rapid succession, forcing new connections to form under extreme biochemical stress.

Synapses strengthened or collapsed within moments, and fresh neural pathways were carved through existing networks as the foreign genetic factor integrated into his cellular structure.

At the microscopic level, brain cells absorbed the altered genetic material, rewriting segments of DNA that regulated cognition, perception, and identity processing.

A wave of dizziness struck Michael as his sensory perception began to split and overlap. For brief flashes, his mind processed multiple spatial perspectives at once, causing disorientation and nausea as his consciousness struggled to stabilize.

His hands trembled from neural overload, while increased blood flow to the brain caused his skin to flush and a thin layer of sweat to form along his neck and forehead.

Minutes passed with steady intensity. His immune system initially resisted the mutation, triggering inflammation that sharpened the headache to a near breaking point, but the response gradually adjusted as the body recognized the altered cells as compatible.

The rapid cellular division slowed, electrical activity reduced from erratic bursts to controlled patterns, and the pressure inside his skull eased into a manageable ache.

His heart rate returned to a controlled rhythm, his breathing deepened, and the tremors in his hands faded. The dizziness subsided as his mind adapted to the newly formed neural architecture, allowing his thoughts to align into a single stable stream again.

When the aftereffects finally disappeared, the heat was gone, the pressure had lifted, and his body stood quiet and balanced, as if it had completed a drastic internal reconstruction.

Michael let out a deep breath, feeling much more relieved as everything returned to normal.

At the moment, he could not tell anything different within his body. Even though he had felt some changes, but now that everything had settled, it felt as though everything was normal.

But at this point, in his mind, rather, in his subconscious, he realized that he could do something that he could not before.

And, the moment that he thought about it, he actually went ahead and did it. And in the next moment, he felt his body being drained of energy, making him almost collapse on the floor.

Still, Michael was able to stabilize his footing, avoiding falling. It was not that the energy that had been extracted from his body was high. Instead, it was just that it was too sudden, at least for his body, making it unable to adapt immediately.

While he was still adapting to the sudden energy loss, in front of him, there was a flash of light, as the light formed a figure.

Just looking at the silhouette of the figure, Michael could see that it resembled him. And as the light began fading, Michael saw that in front of him, there was another ’him’.

This was exactly the clone that had been condensed through the psychic clone ability. In terms of appearance, physique, and even the clothes that it was wearing, it was exactly the same as Michael’s.

This left Michael amazed. All of this, it was something that he had only seen in fantasy and science fiction movies. But now, it was happening to him.

Looking at the clone in front of him, Michael felt that he could actually control it, or could allow it to control itself and do its own thing.

Additionally, internally, he knew that this clone would be absolutely loyal to him, and was impossible to betray him.

It was just that, since this was a clone, it was made from energy, and although it had the appearance of a human, possessing some emotions and the ability to think, it was not a human at the end of the day.

So, it did not have the biological abilities of a normal human like digestion and so on. Instead, its survival depended on the energy that was used in forming it.

It matched Michael’s physical attributes, and the skills that he had as well. Of course, abilities were something else, including the system.

Simply put, this clone could actually fight. It was just that, if it was involved in an intense fight, it would not be able to last long.

At the moment, just doing simple activities and so on, it could actually last for an entire week. But if it fought intensely, the time that it would exist would reduce, and if it was injured or killed, it would dissipate.

Anyway, that was not what Michael wanted to focus on for the time being. Instead, he thought, was it possible to use this clone to be able to acquire skills and SP?

The moment that he thought about it, he acted on it. So, he commanded, "Here, take this phone. I would like you to read the contents of this document."
