Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 420 - Rebuilding the Larkspur Territory (Part 2)
Chapter 420: Chapter 420 - Rebuilding the Larkspur Territory (Part 2)
Everybody in the room had widened eyes directed at me. Nobody was able to speak for a while, obviously not believing that what I was proposing was possible. The first one to come forward was the duke with a simple, "Yes".
The duke looked like he had a lot more questions that he wanted to ask me but with a sigh he simply moved on to the next topic on the improvements for the territory. We spent the rest of the afternoon till the late evening planning everything to the tiniest details.
After all the brainstorming and a few debates, we have finalized the construction plan to just the mansion and its surrounding gardens, the barracks used by the guards and attendants, the market area and lastly, the reinstatement of the farm lands. I would strengthen the wall around the lake and also create another wall around the territory itself for security. Lastly, I will be making 2 new rivers to divert some of the water from the mountain to other places, one to the left and one to the right of the territory.
I thought we would move to the next topic but all of a sudden, the duke’s face showed a hint of hesitation as he asked, "Which mystique kingdom are you from?"
I smiled at him and replied honestly, "The kingdom that has always been in alliance with Athanoviya but kindly keep it as a secret. I became a royal envoy after marrying Prince Aurum, the previously hailed as the most incorrigible of all the princes."
Everybody suddenly kneeled down and greeted me formally as they realized that I am considered a royal too, not that I accepted the princess title from this kingdom. I asked them all to stand up and told them that I am just fulfilling the duties as a new wife to the royal family but I declined the princess title which surprised everybody. They couldn’t help but ask why I did so. I simply answered that I value my freedom more than anything else and they immediately understood.
Since it is already late at night, everybody went to bed full of hopes and dreams for tomorrow. As for me, I told them that I will sleep inside my wagon since it is my mobile home so to speak. They no longer insisted in having me stay in their homes afterwards.
I spent the next few hours finalizing the plans for the territory and also making a list with the order of how I would do the construction first. Everyone would surely want to help out and I do appreciate the thought but if we do it the human way, this semester will end without me even reaching the northern military camps.
After a couple of hours while making sure that the villagers are all sound asleep, I started to quietly construct the outer wall of the territory. This is to not only secure the very few residents remaining as well as the land but also to hide the improvements we are doing inside the territory from prying eyes.
I only needed a couple of hours in the dark of night to finish the outer wall. Since I had time to spare, I also fortified and increased the height of the walls around the lake. I also created a safe set of steps so that people who need to go to the lake could get over the wall easily.
I did not forget to place a purification seal at the bottom of the lake and at the top most part of the waterfall to ensure that the water stays safe for use. I also secretly placed some runes on top of the walls around the lake to ensure that the previous tragedy won’t have a repeat.
I also made a winding path on the side of the mountain which started from the bottom next to the waterfall towards the top of the mountain where the waterfalls came from. It would make the monitoring of the mountains as well as the harvesting of useful materials easier for the villagers.
Once I was contented with completing two of the tasks on my list, I went back to my wagon just before the sun rose to rest for a bit and get my mana restored. I am about to do a territory-wide excavation job so resting a bit won’t hurt. I simply waited patiently for the people to awaken.
The first to awaken, as expected were the duke’s loyal attendants. As they saw the tall and looming wall that suddenly sprouted at the borders of the territory, I heard a startled scream that echoed throughout the territory. It was so loud that it instantly woke up the rest of the villagers.
I calmly walked out of my wagon amidst the surprised gasps of the people around. All their eyes were on me. Their eyes showed different emotions such as awe, admiration, fear, happiness and ones full of questions. I just smiled without any intention to defend or explain myself. As any normal human, I greeted everyone with a jolly "good morning".
Before they could even ask questions, I instructed them to prepare breakfast, quickly eat together then we will start the excavation for their precious items right after that. After hearing that such an important event will occur, people immediately started delegating work so that everyone can eat as soon as possible. They did not let me help out so I simply donated some cooking ingredients to add more to the food that will be prepared.
We all had a simply but filling meal. After eating, everybody hurriedly tidied up and each of them prepared some sacks where they can put some items that they will find during the excavation. Even the young ones, took their own small bags to help out.
I gave instructions for them to stand behind me during the excavation process. I told them that I will place a timer floating above the area so they know how much time is left for them to move around the ruins.
At exactly 9am, I covered myself with a light orb to hide my real countenance which comes out when I use a huge chunk of mana in one go. After casting the spell, I patiently watched as the ground loosened up and floated around, revealing the ruins of what used to be the Larkspur ducal village.
