Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 440 - The New Kolyer Mining District
Chapter 440: Chapter 440 - The New Kolyer Mining District
Though I won’t be able to wait for all the construction that were being done in the different areas to finish, I made sure to atleast focus on finishing the ones on the part of land that was mine. As a businesswoman, you need to get back the amount of money you paid to buy something as soon as you can. You don’t buy something just to keep it hidden. You buy it because you see potential from it to give you even more money.
During my small talks with Damian, Darren and Daryl, they said that the non-existence of non-mining jobs in Kolyer is one of the major sources of frustration and poverty for many families living here. It also technically stops people getting a better life which results to families like theirs who sell their children or men opting to sell other types of services instead.
Even if this is a mining district, not everyone can do mining jobs which is to be expected. Not everyone can do strength-based and labor-intensive professions such as this.
Based on that, I have finally decided what types of businesses I will build in my area. I decided to build the place gradually for the next 4 days, working on one quarter of the area at a time. I will only have to leave the wagon for about four hours in the middle of the night to construct everything for the next few days.
On the first day of work, I started with a quarter of the area first where I decided to build two three-floored buildings. The first building will be used as an inn, a laundromat, a diner and a bakery. The second building will be used for the trading post, a clinic, a pharmacy and the last floor was a learning center and mini library. This was decided based on my observations for the last few days, my conversations with random people and my little meetings with the people at home.
Once the buildings were completed, I also posted a signage in front of it about certain job openings. The job openings include bakers, chefs, diner attendants (serve food, ingredient preparation and wash dishes), inn workers (cleaning and tidying the rooms), laundry attendants, healers, receptionist for the trading post and teachers. The post simply stated that the start of the interviews and official hiring will be five days from now.
The sudden existence of two fully formed buildings just after one night caused a sensation in the territory. It caught a lot of attention since finally, somebody is offering jobs for non-miners. There were a lot of people who read the signage then started calling out other people to see it. Some people even curiously tried to open the door but it wouldn’t budge and peek in through the windows but all they can see was darkness.
On my second day of working, I assigned an area where the market place can be placed. I made proper stalls and placed a small fee of 10 coppers per 24 hours. You must understand that the store is big enough to be used as a place to put your goods and also for sleeping as well. The sellers can even share one stall if they wanted to do so it was very affordable. I also placed my own store in the area which will sell different types of cloths, sewing materials and even ready made clothes if anyone was willing to buy some.
I also added new things like the community kitchen and the existence of craftsman workshops. For a small fee of 5 copper per hour, people can do metal creation and repair, ore dressing, clothes making and even woodwork with complete set of tools included. My goal was to increase the variety of items available for sale in the territory.
The more money circulating in the territory, the better living conditions the people will have in the long run. Having a proper marketplace should eventually attract roaming merchants and even more investors as well.
On my third day of work, I started building the camping tent area, a proper resting area for passing miners, a bathing area and also the place where people can drop their trash for disposal. The camping tent area now has a minimal fee of 10 coppers per 24 hours as well. The difference is that I provide the tents that were sound proofed and has temperature regulating features, sleeping essentials like blankets, pillow and soft cushions that were of good quality, free flowing water for bathing, bathing facilities and items (liquid bathing soap and shampoo). The package I am offering for that small amount is simply "stay clean and sleep properly" every single day of your stay.
The fourth work day was spent improving the texture of the ground to make it easier to walk on and for carts to pass through. I even placed an arc at the entrance to the valley, welcoming all visitors to Kolyer. I had to go all out since I have already designed this place to be as good as any plaza of a major town or city. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
The morning after, I started preparing breakfast early since this day would be a bit more complicated to get through. When the three brothers woke up, they hurriedly went to the kitchen to check on what I was cooking. By that time, all the preparations for the meal are done so they only needed to sit at the dining table to eat. They happily ate the food I made and I was just amused how being well-fed and being in a safe place for a week has changed the three of them not only physically but also their overall personality.
Right after the breakfast, I asked them to gather around the living room since we have something important to talk about. They obediently sat next to each other and quietly waited for me to tell them about it. I told them that today, they have to help me give jobs to deserving people. The three of them looked at each other in confusion.
