Chapter 439: Chapter 439 - I’m just letting you know

After the happy and a bit dramatic breakfast, I bid the three brothers a quick goodbye since it is time to work again as an envoy. In front of them, much to their surprise, I changed my clothes through magic and teleported away towards the Ferreira territory.

After arriving at the Ferreira territory, I started inspecting the things that are being built and renovated. The workers are very efficient as it looks like they immediately started working once the sun was out.

While watching them discreetly, I sent letters to all three leaders. They are official letters stamped by the land registration office in the capital informing them that the land considered as the open area is now fully owned by the Halcyon Corporation. The letter was a bit forceful as it simply stated everything in a blunt and straight to the point manner and that improvements and construction will happen on the area at the soonest time.

One should know that removing the open area from the rest of Kolyer’s control will eat up quite a huge chunk. If we compute it, it is like having 20% of the area removed from the territory and given autonomy instead. I am not sure how the leaders would take the news but it is not like they can do anything about it.

I plan to do all the construction work in the wee hours of the morning, focusing on a quarter of the area at a time. I don’t want to disturb too much how things are in the open area even if the ownership has changed.

I continued the rest of my day going over the ongoing construction in Ferreira. By lunch time, I disappeared again to go back to my wagon. I reappeared in a secluded area near the open area and simply walked across the crowded area.

Just before I reach my wagon, two elderly gentlemen suddenly kneeled in front of me. They introduced themselves as chief stewards of the Erdene and Oriol regions. I thought they were going to complain about the letter but it seems like none of the leaders have read it yet.

The two stewards were begging for me to make a visit to the respective territories they were serving as well. They promised that their leaders and all the citizens of the area will do anything I ask of them and cooperate to any changes I propose as long as it is for the best of everyone. To summarize, they want the same promise of better living conditions that I gave to Ferreira.

I never intended to only extend my help to the Ferreira area only because that would contradict the reason why I visited here as an envoy. I could have done the improvements to three territories at once if I wanted to but I want them to realize that pride and in-fighting won’t get them anywhere when it comes to me.

I greeted the two stewards politely and asked them to tell their masters that I will be visiting Oriol on the next day then Erdene the day after that. For a split second, I saw the attendant from Oriol smugly smile at the attendant from Erdene. As if it was an illusion, the Oriol attendant looked back to me and gave me a sweet smile, assuring me that my message will be delivered the soonest. He bowed then left. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

The attendant from Erdene, though obviously scared still asked a question, "Lady Envoy, may I know why you have placed our territory last? I am not complaining but I just want to know what I will say to my master if he asks."

I looked at him with an emotionless face and replied bluntly, "Your territory is the richest based on my observation. If you wanted to, you could have improved the facilities just with the money you earn from mining. Your territory also has the lowest long term workers due to your poor management. You should know what I am talking about, steward."

The steward’s eyes slowly widened as his face paled by the second. He bowed low and said his goodbyes. He then turned around and literally ran back to his leader to relay the news. I hope he does not get in trouble with how blunt I responded to his question.

Back in Oriol, the attendant has relayed the message of the envoy to his master. The master was still somewhat pleased since the next visit would be for his territory. He still can’t help but feel irritated though since Ferreira got the envoy visit first. His master asked the reason why Ferreira was chosen first but the attendant simply apologized that he was not brave enough to question the envoy’s decision.

The master immediately ordered the servants in his mansion to clean the place and start preparing ingredients for a sumptuous meal for the envoy anytime tomorrow. Everybody suddenly became busy, running around to complete the endless tasks assigned to them.

On the other side, the attendant of Erdene has just arrived at his master’s private study. He relayed that Erdene will be the last territory to be visited by the envoy. The leader immediately scowled and slammed his hand on the table in anger. He started his boastful tirade that the capital will get more benefits from him because he has the biggest land area but the envoy is showing favoritism. After his long monologue of rants, he asked the attendant for the reason why they were last.

The attendant couldn’t help but gulp loudly, thinking about how he can rephrase the envoys words without angering his master even more. He opted to just make it sound like a factual response instead.

He started explaining with a shaky voice, "The envoy said that our territory has the least number of long term workers so it would be best to work on the other areas where the improvements can reach more citizens. She also said that the territory is rich so we don’t need much help and we can even make repairs out of our own pockets if we wanted to."

For some reason, the Erdene leader laughed and praised the envoy suddenly for having a keen eye. He said that the other two territories are indeed poor and are more desperate for aide.

Suddenly in a good mood, he ordered he servants to clean up and stock up the kitchen so they will be prepared when the envoy arrives in two days. The attendants bowed their heads and went to complete their tasks.
