Chapter 452: Chapter 452 - The Long Journey Isn’t So Boring Anymore (Part 1)

I smiled at him and thanked him for showing up even if he was still obviously angry at me and still completing the task I assigned to him. He rolled his eyes at me and clicked his tongue again showing his annoyance. He then said, "You know that I can never say no to you. That’s why you are treating me like this. But what could I do, you just are too popular and have a bunch of husbands already. As for me, I have already fallen too deep to get out of this. Ugh."

I promised that I will make it up to him once his race has settled inside the new World Tree realm and he readily agreed to that arrangement. He then said that they can pack up and move as early as three days from now. He also mentioned nonchalantly that the blood demon king wanted to have an audience with me as well, most likely to ask if they could move to the realm as well.

I know that Void hated the guts of the blood demon prince and it truly bothers him that I have a child with the guy though we really know nothing much of each other and only met once. It is just he is too good-natured that he still told me that the other faction wanted to move out too. This is a fact I know so I asked my deity husband to create the original homes for the mystiques.

Aeterdumnox is originally the home of the blood demons alone. The dark elves have their own domain so to speak but due to scarce resources and mutual benefits, they lived together in such a small space in the human realm. To prove that I like this guy, I asked Laerad to rebuild Myrkasvana, the original home of the dark elves in the original World Tree realm. I hope that my pouty dark elf prince and my father-in-law likes my surprise.

After getting all of his grievances out, he finally gave his report to me about the "Church of Lumienere". As per Void’s report, they are indeed a cult that worships "Lumienere" who they believe is the goddess of light and fertility and the creator of this world. The said religion boasts that their founders have personally witnessed the goddess walking on the lands of this world and providing grace and blessing to the chosen ones.

Just like the religion in my previous world, they are currently governed by a pope which is of the highest rank. There is a rank higher than it but as per Void, it has remained vacant for several centuries for reasons unknown but as per his investigation, the rank was called "Saintess" which means it should be owned by a woman. The next rank after the pope were the cardinals followed by the bishops, abbot, templars, high priest, priest and novices. This proves that they already have established their own system and ranks from the start.

Void had a smirk on his face and I knew that the next thing he would say would be something ridiculous. He said that he sneaked in to the headquarters of the religion and into their archives. He then said that he confirmed that the "Lumienere" that they were worshipping was the previous leader of the Rosenoir family that liked to play around. Her name was indeed Lumienere.

At least now, I have a name and a sketch of how she looked like based on the archives of the said religion. It would be easier for my parents to confirm the information. I immediately sent a message to my parents about it.

Void continued that the members of the religion do not marry but once an official member has been deemed ready for the "blessing of the goddess", they were sent out of the religious order and will disguise as a part of the populace after undergoing a certain ritual. Once these men are out, they would have the ability to recognize which woman is deemed as sent by the goddess to bless them.

As for the blessing, Void simply said that the members that came out of the order will come back pregnant. If the child was born a male, they will keep them under the guidance of the abbott until they can become novices which is around the age of 12. They will grow up knowing their fathers but they are brainwashed into believing that they were conceived through the power of the goddess, through a miracle and a blessing.

From everything that Void has said, it is totally a cult and not a religion to me. I also noticed that he said that only the male children were kept so I couldn’t help but ask Void, "You said that they only keep, educate and turn the male children as novices so what happens if the member of their belief gives birth to a female child?"

Void smiled as if he was excited to share some gossip. He then replied, "If they could still find the mother, the child is left to their care in exchange for allowing the priest to put her under a ritual where she will remember nothing about the father of her child. Most women agree to it since as we all know, this world values female children more than males since they are rare. If the mother could not be found, they will be left at the doors of an orphanage. Isn’t their way of making sure that their church continuously has members amazing?"

I smirked at how amused Void looked at everything he found out after going through the archives and investigating the core of the Church of Lumienere. I then realized another peculiar thing and asked, "The fertility rate of this world is low so what happens if the member that went out couldn’t get pregnant?"

Void clapped his hands as he realized he missed discussing this point. He then answered quickly, "The ritual they go through before they leave the church increases their fertility to a certain degree albeit only good for half a year. The effects of the ritual is different for everyone though, according to the records. Some are lucky and can come back quickly but some stay longer outside. They can’t come back without fulfilling their mission."
