Interstellar Beast World: All My Husbands Are Powerful and Rich!-Chapter 199: Ridiculous luck
Rory happily accepted the storage ring Nix handed to her.
Then she quickly reminded him, "Nix, a lot of pearls rolled downstairs earlier. Remember to help me pick them all up."
Nix nodded without hesitation. "Got it. I’ll go collect them in a bit."
Wen suddenly remembered how uncontrollably he had cried just moments ago. A faint blush crept onto his usually cool, composed face.
"Master... I’m not normally this emotional. I only cried so much because I thought you were sick and got too worried. Please don’t dislike me for it."
Many females didn’t like males who cried easily.
But how could Rory possibly dislike him? On the contrary—she adored it. He gave her so many pearls!
Not only could she use them herself, but she could also sell them for a fortune in star coins.
Wen was practically a walking star-coin generator.
"Wen," Rory said with bright eyes, "being able to cry so many pearls is amazing. I don’t dislike it at all. If you ever have time... could you cry a few more pearls for me?"
She looked at him expectantly. "You don’t have to cry so many at once. Just take it slow—crying too much at once isn’t good for your eyes."
Faced with Rory’s hopeful gaze, Wen had no way to refuse. "If Master likes my pearls," he said softly, "then whenever you want them, I’ll cry as many as you wish."
To him, pearls were the most useless things in the world. He never imagined his master would like them so much.
Just then, Jasper walked in carrying breakfast.
"Rory, it’s time to eat. The private doctor we invited yesterday has also arrived. I’ll have him come check on you later."
The moment Wen heard the words private doctor, he turned sharply toward Rory.
"Master, didn’t you say you weren’t sick? Then why invite a doctor?"
Nix chuckled and explained, "Rory isn’t sick. She’s pregnant."
Wen stared at Rory in stunned disbelief.
Master... was pregnant?
"Whose child is it?" he asked instinctively.
Who was lucky enough to already have a child with her?
Nix and Jasper both shook their heads.
Rory explained, "It’s still too early to tell. We don’t know whose baby it is yet."
At those words, Wen’s eyes suddenly lit up. "Master, would you like to find out right now?"
Nix, Jasper, and Rory all turned to look at him at once.
Nix immediately asked, "You have a way?"
Wen nodded. "Our clan has a treasure. The moment a female becomes pregnant, it can determine who the father is. Master, wait here. I brought it with me—I’ll go get it right now."
As soon as Wen finished speaking, he leapt down from the balcony.
Moments later, he returned at full speed, dragging the large suitcase he had brought with him.
This kind of suitcase was unique to the Water Domain. It was crafted from a special kind of mer-silk, and the interior contained its own spatial dimension.
It could store far more than a normal storage ring—and was even more convenient.
Wen opened the suitcase. Immediately, a pile of storage rings spilled out.
He glanced at Rory with a slightly embarrassed expression. "Master... I brought too many things, so I had to pack them like this."
Rory, Nix, and Jasper stared in stunned silence.
Good heavens. A space inside a space—inside more space. Had he brought half the merfolk clan’s treasures with him?
Wen rummaged through the rings for a moment before pulling out something that resembled a bronze mirror.
Yet it was clearly different.
Strange symbols were engraved along its surface—characters Rory couldn’t understand.
"Master," Wen explained, holding it up carefully, "this is crafted from the shell of a special spiral creature unique to the Water Domain. As long as you place your hair and the hair of your mates on its surface, the strand that links itself to yours will reveal the father of the child in your womb."
"This is how we identify a child’s parent in the Water Domain."
He set the mirror-like artifact in front of Rory.
Rory curiously plucked a strand of her own hair and placed it on the mirror.
Nix and Jasper immediately followed suit, each placing one of their own strands beside hers.
They were both very curious as well. Who exactly did the baby belong to?
One second passed.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
A full minute went by.
The strands of hair didn’t move at all.
Rory raised an eyebrow and looked at Wen. "Are you sure this thing works?"
Wen nodded firmly. "In the Water Domain, many beastfolk species have very long pregnancy cycles. Females often use this artifact to identify the father. It has never failed."
Looking at the three strands of hair lying perfectly still on the mirror’s surface, he continued confidently, "If nothing happens, there’s only one explanation... The baby’s father isn’t either of them."
"Not us?" Nix and Jasper exchanged a glance.
Nix shrugged slightly. "Rory has only bonded with Jasper, Xarion, and me. If it’s not the two of us... Then it can only be Xarion’s."
So the baby belonged to Xarion?
Neither Jasper nor Nix knew whether to feel disappointed... or secretly amused.
Wen, hearing that the child was Xarion’s, couldn’t help twitching at the corner of his mouth.
"If the baby really is Xarion’s... it won’t grow up just like him, will it? Half-dead and lying around all day?"
Xarion’s reputation was well known across all Four Domains.
The thought of his child...
Nix and Jasper exchanged another look, their expressions equally complicated. Even they couldn’t help twitching their lips.
Rory, however, wasn’t bothered in the slightest. After all, Xarion would be the one raising the baby.
Let a lazy wolf raise a lazy cub. Let’s see who can out-lazy whom!
The image alone was amusing enough that Rory nearly burst out laughing.
After Rory finished breakfast, Nix, Jasper, and Wen tidied up the table. When they stepped out of her room, they saw Xarion sprawled across the sofa downstairs.
He wasn’t asleep—just lying there with his eyes open, lazily stretched out across the cushions.
Ever since Xarion had bonded with Rory, he rarely returned to lie inside his crystal coffin.
Nix and Jasper had always assumed it was because Vincent wasn’t home. Xarion probably felt responsible for protecting Rory, so he no longer dared to spend his days sleeping in the coffin.
As Nix passed by on his way to the kitchen with the dishes, he raised an eyebrow and glanced at Xarion.
This guy really had ridiculous luck. The very first time—and he already had a cub.
And Rory hadn’t even gotten angry with him. Just what kind of trick had Xarion pulled?
Noticing Nix’s scrutinizing gaze, Xarion frowned slightly.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
Had Nix taken the wrong medicine this morning? What kind of expression was that?
Nix snorted lightly when he saw that Cotton Candy wasn’t around.
"I’m looking at the sofa. Who said I was looking at you?"
Jealous. He was extremely jealous of Xarion.
Xarion blinked. "...Did you eat something weird this morning?"
Why was he talking so strangely?
"I don’t feel like dealing with you." Nix clearly didn’t want to continue the conversation. Carrying the dishes, he walked straight into the kitchen.
Xarion could only shrug.
Jasper walked over next. He gave Xarion a slow once-over from head to toe, then turned and headed outside.
He had gone to collect the pearls Rory had mentioned earlier.
Originally, Rory had asked Nix to do it, but since Nix was busy cleaning the kitchen, Jasper had taken the task instead.
Xarion’s eyes narrowed.
What was going on with these two this early in the morning? Why were they both acting so strange?
Wen was the last to come downstairs.
He glanced briefly at Jasper leaving outside, then turned his gaze toward Xarion, who had just sat upright on the sofa.
"The young master of the Snow Domain truly is impressive." With that cryptic remark, he picked up his suitcase and walked away.
Xarion: "?"
What were these three trying to say? What exactly had he done?
Impressive?
Xarion felt completely baffled.
He stood up and headed upstairs to find Rory.
All three of them had come out of the Female Master’s room acting strangely—something must have happened inside that he didn’t know about.
When Xarion arrived upstairs, Rory was sitting on the bed, examining the pink pearls scattered across the blankets.
Each one was the size of a pigeon egg.
She was quietly thinking about what she should make with them.
Wen really could cry. These pearls were perfectly round and almost identical—large, smooth, and luminous.
The sound of the door opening made Rory glance up briefly.
Seeing that it was Xarion, she deliberately pretended not to notice and continued studying her pearls. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Xarion closed the door behind him and walked over.
When he saw Rory ignoring him and focusing only on the pearls, he looked a little aggrieved.
He sat down beside her, wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, and rested his chin lightly on her shoulder.
