Invincible Divine Doctor of the Beautiful Lady-Chapter 110 - 108: Aren’t You the One Who Called Me In?
Chapter 110: Chapter 108: Aren’t You the One Who Called Me In?
Sitting on the couch with Tangyu, Song Qingyu soon felt a bit awkward; the atmosphere was just not right. She turned on the TV in a hurry, only to land on a love scene, which made the already embarrassing mood even more intense.
Song Qingyu’s cheeks, without her realizing when, had flushed a few shades of red. She hurriedly changed the channel, but somehow, the next one showed a couple deeply kissing. Another switch, and it was a breast enhancement advertisement—finding no way out, Song Qingyu simply turned the TV off altogether.
"You just can’t watch TV these days," Song Qingyu complained, trying to cover her embarrassment. She didn’t understand why she felt this way. There was nothing going on between her and Tangyu.
Watching Song Qingyu’s reaction, Tangyu couldn’t help but chuckle to himself.
"Your place is really well-decorated and cozy; it must be nice to have someone around," Tangyu initiated the conversation when he noticed Song Qingyu seemed somewhat uncomfortable.
Song Qingyu nodded, "Yeah, actually, Wen Shanshan and I only met during our last move. We both fancied this apartment and came to view it at the same time. We were both planning to rent it alone, actually. The location is close to our office, the environment is great, security is solid, and it’s very convenient for shopping and getting around—most importantly, it’s really cheap.
"The original landlord had to leave, so they were in a hurry to rent it out. After discussing it, we decided to share the place; it was a two-bedroom anyway, so we signed a two-year lease together. Gradually, Shanshan and I got to know each other. She’s really a great girl, kind-hearted and diligent; she makes everything look easy. She’s also quite lively, so every time I come home from work, she always has endless stories to tell, making the house lively indeed."
"She sounds like a really good girl," Tangyu nodded, but it’s a pity she’s not my type.
Song Qingyu glanced at Tangyu and suddenly offered, "Why don’t I introduce her to you?"
"Me?" Tangyu paused, then laughed as he shook his head, "Well, let’s not."
Song Qingyu looked slightly offended; Tangyu’s standards seemed quite high, but then she thought about the girls often seen with him. He might be the Lin Family’s future son-in-law; it made sense he wouldn’t be interested in Shanshan. Noticing Song Qingyu’s look, Tangyu explained, "Don’t get me wrong, Qingyu; it’s not like that. Love is indeed a feeling."
"All said and done, she’s still not up to your standard," Song Qingyu teased.
"Well, okay," Tangyu pursed his lips, supposing that was one way to look at it.
"Who’s not up to whose standard? There’s definitely something between you two," a voice exclaimed, as Wen Shanshan poked her head out from around the corner.
Song Qingyu glared at Wen Shanshan irritably, "Since when did you learn to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations?"
"What? No, I didn’t, I was just about to go to the toilet when I heard you talking. Since I was up anyway, I thought I’d show my face; carry on, I’m dipping out," Wen Shanshan said playfully with a laugh.
"Come back here, stop hiding. If you have free time, go cook something; I’m feeling a bit hungry," Song Qingyu said.
Wen Shanshan immediately emerged, "Alright, alright, I did buy quite a bit of groceries today. Now that we have such an honorable guest, let your lady here show off her skills and whip up a feast." frёeweɓηovel_coɱ
Tangyu stood up, "Let me do it, Shanshan. Qingyu’s body could use some nutritious food; I’ll take care of it."
"What, you’ll cook?" Wen Shanshan was surprised, not because Tangyu could cook—after all, it wasn’t unusual for guys to know their way around the kitchen these days. What surprised her was how eager the guest was to cook; he must really care for Qingyu.
This guy really has the makings of a good husband. Wen Shanshan smiled, "Okay then, I won’t fight you for the chance to show off. But, Qingyu is quite picky, so give it your best, Tangyu, hehe." After speaking, she playfully winked at Song Qingyu with a hint of flirtation.
Song Qingyu decided to ignore it altogether; she didn’t know how to explain the situation and feared explaining might make things worse, so she didn’t bother.
Tangyu went into the kitchen, and Wen Shanshan, chuckling, moved to Song Qingyu’s side and said, "Qingyu, Tangyu is truly a standard good man. Such attention to detail is really rare these days; you’re lucky to have it."
"Lucky my foot—stop talking nonsense. There’s really nothing between him and me. If you’re envious, you go find one for yourself," Song Qingyu replied.
Wen Shanshan said, "Just because there’s nothing now doesn’t mean there won’t be later. I can feel that he has a thing for you. Don’t miss out on such a good man; I’m serious, I’m not joking. I’m so envious; I’d love to find someone too, but I just haven’t yet. Good men are indeed rare these days. Either they’re wolves in sheep’s clothing or heartbreakers, and if they’re nice, they might not have money; if they’re rich, they’re probably too flirty. When will I meet a good man like Tangyu?"
Seeing Wen Shanshan’s lovesick expression, Song Qingyu glared at her but couldn’t help thinking to herself. To be fair, Tangyu could indeed be considered a good man, at least as far as she was concerned so far.
He was always very caring towards her, even going as far as protecting her when she was in danger, always showing up surprisingly. Plus, she vaguely felt that Tangyu might really have a fondness for her.
However, when it came to love, she had always been a bit slow to catch on.
"Stop overthinking it. A good man will always come along, and your Prince Charming will definitely appear. Someone as outstanding as you won’t have trouble marrying into a good family," Song Qingyu advised.
Wen Shanshan shook her head and said, "I do believe that I won’t have to worry about getting married; after all, nowadays any woman can find a husband. But just settling for someone is not what I want, at least not for now. Maybe I’ll think about it when no one wants me anymore. Who can blame me for still dreaming about my Prince Charming when I’m such a beauty? I’m not in a rush. I’m still young, and I can afford to wait a few more years."
"Hmm," Song Qingyu nodded in agreement.
"By the way, Qingyu, what’s going on with you? You seem to be doing pretty well, looking quite radiant. Also, why did you buy such small clothes?" Wen Shanshan asked.
Song Qingyu was momentarily stunned before realizing she was still wearing Guo Momo’s clothes, remembering she had forgotten to change: "I’ve been poisoned, not ill. These clothes are borrowed from a friend, I’ll go change." Saying that, she stood up and headed to her room.
As Tangyu was busy in the kitchen, he turned when he heard a knock at the door and saw Wen Shanshan standing there, "What’s up?"
"Heh, of course I need something from you. Qingyu asked for you to come to her room, I’ll take care of things here," Wen Shanshan replied.
"Oh, what’s the matter?" Tangyu inquired.
Wen Shanshan shook her head and said, "How would I know? You’ll find out when you go. Hurry up, Qingyu is waiting for you."
"Okay," Tangyu put down what he was holding, left the kitchen, and headed towards Song Qingyu’s room. When he reached the door and found it closed, he didn’t think much of it and walked right in. Upon entering, his eyes went wide.
What he saw was an almost completely naked Song Qingyu, who was changing clothes, having just taken off Guo Momo’s outfit, and was about to put on her own, when Tangyu barged in.
Song Qingyu was also momentarily stunned, staring at Tangyu with wide eyes. After a long moment, a hint of embarrassed anger showed on her face, "You jerk, who let you in?! Get out now!"
Song Qingyu was both embarrassed and angry; this was the first time a man had seen her in such a state. Even though she didn’t dislike Tangyu, having him see her body like this was hard for her to accept. She then realized she had forgotten to lock her door.
"Uh, didn’t you call me in?" Tangyu said, equally puzzled, and didn’t immediately leave.
"Who let you in? Get out!" Song Qingyu shouted furiously.
Taken aback, Tangyu quickly realized he had been tricked by Wen Shanshan and hastily left the room. Once outside, he saw Wen Shanshan smirking not far away. He gave her a speechless glare; that girl really had the guts to play such a prank, wasn’t she afraid Qingyu would hold her accountable? Shaking his head, he knew he had no choice but to accept the situation.
"It’s not my fault; I knew nothing," Wen Shanshan said, waving her hands and quickly ducking into the kitchen.
Tangyu touched his nose, wondering if all young girls were so mischievous nowadays. This made him think of Zhao Yaya, who was just as playful.
Having upset Song Qingyu probably meant no good would come of it, and Tangyu could do nothing but sit in the living room to wait for her.
Ten minutes later, Song Qingyu finally came out with a frosty expression and sat in the living room, glaring at Tangyu. That look made Tangyu somewhat uncomfortable.
"Okay, Qingyu, I’m sorry; I was wrong. I misheard and thought you were calling me. I didn’t do it on purpose," Tangyu said.
Song Qingyu replied coldly, "You sure have good hearing to mistake something from so far away. Was it Shanshan?"
"How could it be? I really misheard," Tangyu insisted, glancing over at Wen Shanshan who stood by the kitchen door, sending back a grateful look.
Song Qingyu looked at Tangyu for a long while before saying, "Fine, I won’t hold it against you this time, but don’t let it happen again, or I won’t be so polite. Also, forget everything you saw just now. Erase it from your memory."
Tangyu nodded and answered, "Yeah, I really didn’t see anything; I’ve forgotten it all already." But inwardly, he chuckled, amused, thinking how ridiculous it was to forget something like that. In the 21st century, it’s all about conservation, and wasting anything is shameful.
Song Qingyu knew the incident was probably another one of Wen Shanshan’s pranks, albeit a bit extreme. Seeing Tangyu willing to take the blame all on himself without naming her, she felt somewhat moved. If Tangyu had ratted Wen Shanshan out, Song Qingyu would have actually been a bit contemptuous of him. If a man couldn’t handle such a small matter, he wasn’t really much of a man.
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward again.
