Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer-Chapter 1132 Testing the genius
[Eon's POV: ]
"Arcane breathing, Energy threading, and-."
"And Materialising!"
"Yes. We are going to test these three things today, alright?"
"Yes~!"
I just finished up the spar with Carla a while ago, and now I'm with Anna, testing some of the things that we have been learning for a while now.
"Remember what I told you? You're not going to-."
"I'm not going to push myself~. Yes~!"
She was pretty excited right now. A little too much actually.
"Haaa… alright then."
I knew I could not be as harsh on her as my master was with me but I tried my best. To train her, to help her grow, to make her suffer a little so that she gets even a little demotivated, I did a lot of things that I should not have as her brother.
But she still endured it all and passed through the trials as if it was nothing big. She was strong already– if not physically, she was at least uniquely strong mentally.
Her endurance was great, her understanding of arts was great, her imaginative powers were great, and her entire mental state was great. In comparison to what I have endured, she did not find many of the things as difficult as I did.
'Be it the image training, the energy path tracing, the precision practice… most of the things that we were doing, most of the things that I had to endure for weeks to master, were already Consumed by her in a much shorter period.'
The rate at which she was learning new things, the rate at which she still had time to play around and read in the library above, and the rate at which she could grasp various concepts were far higher than what I used to be capable of.
[{ *We knew she was a genius, so we should have expected that much.* }]
'Our calculations were still off, Lucy.'
They were off by quite a lot and that feared me even more. But there was nothing else I could do anymore.
I needed to teach her things, and make her as strong as I could by putting her as many things as I could. The stronger she is when we get back, the sturdier base she will have.
'Perhaps she will not get to use her powers openly when we get back, so while we are here, I should also teach her how to hide her powers.' Find your next read on novelbuddy
But then again, she is still young. We might still be able to restrict her to our field of vision… or not. I don't know what she will want to do after we get back, so for the time being, I will teach her what I can.
"We will start with the breathing technique. Show me what you have learned and explain everything you're doing while doing so."
"Alright~!"
She had been diligent with her training until now. She was excited to do all the cool things that we could do, so, first of all, I was teaching her how to handle the Arcane energy inside of her.
When she is able to utilize it properly, I will teach her the arcane summoning technique and we will arrange a summoning ceremony for her first-ever summoned beast.
'If the beast likes her, it will make a contract with her, but even if it does not, she will still get to control the beast for a short while.'
These beasts summoned through an arcane contract are not the same as the energy beasts that exist naturally. They are creatures of a different realm, the realms of the beasts perhaps, and they are pretty much like spirits in this world.
'If she can control these beasts even without a formal contract, she will be able to control her body in a way we can without having to excessively train herself.'
Since she was so accepted by Arcane Energy, she did not practically have to solidify her physical foundations to move in a way a knight could or learn specific movement and breathing techniques like us.
'While she will need to do that for her sword training, she could still do a lot of cool things that we could just by training her arcane arts.'
That's why we were going to focus on that for the time being.
"First of all, a breath is not simply the intake of air through the mouth or nose, it comes from deep within us and flows naturally throughout our body before we exhale it."
Unlike Mana which exists everywhere in nature or Aura which comes from one's deep consciousness, Arcanum is an energy that, while existing in nature, is difficult to harness naturally.
The arcane masters who could use this energy had to learn about the energy itself before they could recognize it within the environment and channel it– but that was not the case for Anna thanks to her unique ability to feel things.
'She could feel emotions naturally, so along with it, she could also feel different elements of nature, like Arcanum.'
Since it was easier for her to feel the golden dots of energy in nature, it was easier for her to drag them towards her.
'Through a deep, concentrated breathing method that channeled the energy in the environment throughout her body, a deep breathing that takes much longer than the natural breathing of mages, knights, or even martial artists, this method of energy gathering was not easy to learn.'
Even the current arcane masters must have taken at least a year to learn it. But, she did it within a few days… which is scary, even to me.
"Gathering Arcanum in the core takes time, but since unlike Mana, the pool of Arcanum that we can store is much larger, we usually store energy over time before using it for anything else."
"Which is why the older the Arcane master, the stronger they are."
Even if you can gather and channel Arcanum like Mana, you cannot use it like one could use Aura. While one can be accessed much more easily and it's easier to channel it because of its lower density and abundance of presence in the environment, it is a lot more difficult to do the same with Arcanum.
'Aura comes from within so producing it depends on one's will and desires. Mana can continuously be channeled, making it a very good substitute for 'reserved' stamina. Even the Qi or internal energy of the martial artists that the President uses could be used like Mana.'
I could also say the same for Solnova, just that, unlike Mana, it's much easier to use it continuously because of the lower restrictions and greater availability.
Arcanum is not the same. The more one gathers it, the stronger it could be. But, they have to have a great enough energy pool to store it– and since the energy pool of arcane users grows as they grow, age directly corresponds with their strength.
Still…
It doesn't really mean the older they are, the stronger they are Compared to the other arcane users.
"The starting point is different for all of us. So…"
Anna drew out the Arcanum from deep within her. It was golden, as it should be. Not impure like most young arcane users would have it, but as pure as someone who has understood the energy for over a decade.
Then, materializing the energy, she extended her hand and created a straight line by moving the hands in opposite directions.
Following that, she moved both her hands in a circular form, creating a circle of energy thread with one line in the center.
"My materialization would not be the same as what the others might be able to create."
"That's right."
Threading of arcanum happened after one learned materialization, but she was able to thread out the energy and turn it into a usable form even before she learned materialization as if she instinctively understood how the energies should be for her to use them for anything.
'It's difficult for them to gather this energy, but the versatility of the energy makes up for its charging difficulty. Still, the difficulty of understanding the rawness of their energy is far worse.'

There were many guiding artifacts in this tower that had helped her learn these things. I was here, as well as the others. Perhaps Mave's boosting powers had helped her learn a little faster as well, but all these factors aside, if she did not innately understand these things, she would not have been able to know what threading meant, or how to pull her energy out of her core and give it a form.
'Even normal mages need a few weeks of Mana understanding to cast their first spell.'
She was not calculating here since arcane energy arts aren't spell casting, but it's not any less difficult than spell casting.'
"It's just a blank thread with an unstable base, but after you master this, it will act as an elemental release circle." She did not know it herself, but instead of being worse than the majority, she was far above normal.
The purity of her Arcanum must be the result of her innate Understanding of the energy, and the mastery of threading should be the result of her continuous exposure to Alf and father's spells, or the knight's Aura.
The only reason she could materialize her energy already was also because of the pure nature of her energy that made it innately unstable– a problem that will be solved after we give her a Quality stabilizing artifact.
'She's ready.'
I wanted to test her by putting her through multiple tests, but this simple demonstration was more than enough.
She was ready for the summoning process, to get her Arcane beast, the being that would be able to use her high-quality Arcanum much better than she could use it in any art right now.
'Perhaps, we will be able to test her in the outdoor environment soon as well.'
