"100 to 1, huh? That seems... Decent?" Alchemy said to herself hesitantly.
"Wait. 516 now. A level 23 fire cat gives 4600. Factoring elites, it’d take less than 10 kills in the second layer for 500... Yeah, it’s fine I guess."
It was definitely the least interesting reward she got. She knew that all of them couldn’t be winners, but it definitely felt lackluster compared to the rest.
Even the Mythical Evolution Core sounded useful. Just like the IDOL upgrade, it was an item that wasn’t from A.O.A. Unfortunately, Nera had already evolved right before the mimic invasion, Sapphire couldn’t be that close, and Alchemy herself was a ways away before she could become a Completed Divinity.
"Actually... Hey handler, I have a question."
<I have an answer. Not that I’ll give it to you.>
"Yeah, yeah. So, Nera got a second name, and Sapphire got an Epic or whatever when I named her, turning her into a Heroic Seed. Theoretically, could I name my normal units?"
<You could... But naming is a natural law of this world. Frankly, we have no idea how much Divine Power that’d cost.>
"But it’d be more expensive than with Sapphire?"
<Most likely Astronomically, yes.>
"Cool... Cool... Well, I know what my next project is. Another question, would it be possible for another person to give Sapphire a second name?"
<Unknown.>
Alchemy clicked her tongue.
She’s been thinking about it since the entire ordeal with Melphite, but giving creatures names to increase their power was a very interesting addition to her toy box.
Plus, everything lined up quite well. Subpar as she felt the EXP to DP conversion was, she needed to go hunting to fill up her new skill anyway. Not to mention that she had some errands to run outside of her civilization.
"Master Alchemy! The... Tribal hut changed!" Sapphire called from below.
She was still getting used to the system and had to remember what the previous Prospect’s Throne was called, which caused a small delay in her words.
"Perfect timing." Alchemy hummed to herself, leaping over the banister on the balcony.
"Yeah. Normally, I’m meant to upgrade it every time I increase our Civilization Tier, but I skipped it last time so I’m catching up now." She responded to her daughter.
"Although... I’m not sure how deer accessible this one is. Can you use stairs?"
"What are stairs?"
"Ah, right... Well, that can wait. Or you can figure it out yourself. I have things to do outside of our land. Can I ask you to hold down the fort while I’m gone?"
Sapphire nodded relatively quickly. While it’d be the first time Alchemy was planning to go so far away without Sapphire, it shouldn’t be that different from the other time when she left for the Instance Dungeon.
"Sure. How long will you be gone?"
"Not entirely sure. I plan to head into the second and potentially third layers of the forest. You don’t need to worry too much though. My Avatar will still be here so we can communicate through that."
As she spoke, the distinctive butterfly flew over and landed on Sapphire’s head.
She had it hidden in the trees toward the edge of her domain whenever it wasn’t in use. She didn’t want to unsummon it and waste Divine Power, but she couldn’t figure out how to stop it from relaying its senses to her.
Seeing double was already disorienting enough, but hearing and feeling double complex sensations constantly was awful.
She was sure that if she learned how to access the Pseudo-hivemind, most of her problems would go away, this one included, but that was something she had yet to take off the back burner.
"Alright... Be safe." Sapphire cuddled up to Alchemy.
"Well, with the Dryads pacified for now I should be fine. Later."
Saying her goodbyes to Sapphire and her brood, Alchemy began to dart off at her top speed toward the second layer.
Last time, it took her several hours, but with how much higher her stats were now, the barrier came into view in mere minutes.
"STAY BACK!" A familiar voice in the distance shouted out in desperation.
Shortly after that, Alchemy heard a loud growl and a powerful roar.
"That’s... The bear’s voice." Alchemy identified.
Now that she thought about it, she was quite close to the Ore Dwellers, and the voice she heard was definitely Sevi’s, the matriarch of their group.
’Sounds like they’re having fun. I should go say hi.’ She thought.
Launching herself above the trees to get a bird’s eye view, she saw the cave formations that the Ore Dwellers resided in under attack.
"Mint lions... No, there’s more."
On top of the fire lions that Gravana had taken her to eliminate last time, there were lions with the wind, water, and earth as well.
They weren’t as flashy as the Mint lions with their fiery manes, but they were all nicely color coded so Alchemy could make her own inferences.
And their numbers weren’t small. There were at least 60. Although she couldn’t see all of the battle, it was clear that the Ore Dwellers weren’t faring well.
’Am I getting involved in this?’ Alchemy questioned herself.
Truthfully, she didn’t care about the Ore Dwellers at all. If they were to be eliminated, it’d be easy for her to take all of their minerals for herself.
Fighting such large numbers simply wasn’t worth it. Plus, it wasn’t like Gravana would have any way of knowing that she didn’t step in to help.
’Sora...’ She suddenly remembered the matriarch’s daughter.
The child’s brown fur split up by the natural ore-like armor they wore. Her delighted face when Alchemy gave her and her friends some grapes.
’Damn, Alchemy... When did you become so heartless? She cursed herself.
She never saw herself as the selfless kind, but was she really about to let that child go. Even if she survived, it was likely Sevi wouldn’t.
Narrowing her eyes on one of the largest lions she could see, Alchemy took a deep breath.
"Alright. Game on."
