Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams-Chapter 32: Unbreakable Skin
His body turned into mist again, it was just a mirage. Realising it had been tricked again the draval roared with rage.
Viona appeared behind it, she jumped high into air with her sword shrouded in flames. With a roar she dropped it on it head like a guillotine.
Clang, the sound of steel against steel echoed through the desert sand. It bark like skin was so tough her sword couldn’t even leave a scratch on it.
She landed on it back, it roared and jumped like a furious bull trying to shake her off. She grabbed into a crack on it back and held on.
Khali was still invisible and hidden by the mirage ability. However after the mirage clone died, he couldn’t remain hidden for long.
The ability was going to cancel itself, he used that time to look for any weaknesses and he found one.
The draval was low centred, it stomach was almost dragging through the sand but there was a gap and through it he could see it underbelly.
Unlike the rest of it body, the underbelly did not have the hard charred bark armour. He knew he needed a way to get under it.
The mirage ability cancelled itself and he appeared out of thin air next to it.
The moment he did, it turned around facing away from him then tried to stab him with it tail.
The air exploded as the tail broke the sound barrier. It swung at him like a whip, the only thing he managed to do was raise his spear.
The collision made his arms shake, he gritted his teeth through the pain and he was somehow enjoying it.
No matter how painful, mortal feelings were still wonderful to him. He flew through the air like a thrown sack.
He crashed on the desert sand over 50 metres away and continued rolling for 6 more metres before coming to a stop.
He stood up with shaking arms, he was certain his bones had cracked. Unfortunately he couldn’t even call Freya for help.
If she even dared come here, she would die. Viona continued attacking it from it back but none of her attacks managed to damage it.
He shook his head when the warriors tried to shoot it. Not only would it be a waste of bullets.
They might end up harming Viona instead.
’ There must be something else.’ he tried searching for another weakness and saw a plausible one.
It eyes were small, like really small, something with eyes like that must have terrible eyesight.
Then how was it tracking them, how did it manage to see them through the sand?
’ Vibrations.’
That realisation hit him almost instantly and he knew he was probably right. He decided to test it.
He created a tiny fireball and threw it dozens of metres away. The fireball exploded, a second later.
The draval stomped it foot creating an earth spike where the fireball exploded.
’ As I thought.’
Then he used mirage again, his mirage clone and him overlapped then he walked to the left leaving the mirage in his place.
Mirage was still weak for now and wouldn’t work on a high rank enemy with intelligence. However it was still a powerful high grade ability under the illusion and dreams branch.
For something as dumb as this beast, even though it was significantly stronger than him, mirage still worked just fine on it.
Mirage was able to confuse senses, it made it hard to differentiate between him and his clone.
In it second stage where he turned invisible, although he couldn’t erase his scent, sound or footsteps.
He could transfer them to his mirage clone or to be more specific confuse the senses of his enemies to believe that.
As soon as he started walking away, it turned it tiny eyes towards his clone and fired a ball of earth.
The air exploded leaving sonic blooms and the earth ball shot towards his clone like a cannon ball. The sand flew up like a bomb had exploded.
His clone was completely destroyed by that attack. He knew if it hit him, he would die as well and strangely he found that exciting.
He wondered how death felt for mortals yet it also scared him which was quite confusing to be honest, he felt a rush.
’ Is this adrenaline?’ he wondered, even the spider didn’t give him such a feeling but this draval was stronger.
Much stronger, so much so that he knew he didn’t stand a chance against it. Even if he used his divine energy he knew he wouldn’t be able to kill it.
Speaking of, his divine energy points were over 19 thousand now, just a few hundred more points and he would be a rank 1 divine.
The draval raised it front feet like a horse which exposed it underbelly. Seeing an opportunity he attacked.
He infused mana into his arm and spear strengthening both. Then with a heavy stomp he threw the spear like a javelin.
BOOOOM, the spear left sonic booms behind. He threw it so hard he felt his shoulder dislocate.
The draval with it massive size couldn’t dodge something moving that fast from such a distance.
With it head facing the sky and it underbelly fully exposed, Viona jumped off it back, a moment later the spear hit.
There was a huge explosion of sound followed by a shockwave that created a sandstorm that covered hundreds of metres.
He tried to lodge his shoulder back but his entire arm was sore. A throw that powerful wasn’t something his current body could handle.
Some of his muscles were ripped to shreds for doing that. Viona on the other hand was hit by the shockwave while mid air.
It sent her flying back even further and before she could even land she was hit by a sandstorm.
" Damnit." She cursed and spit out the blood and sand in her mouth. The sandstorm cleared after a few dozen seconds.
He and Viona looked at each other, the draval was nowhere to be seen. Where it stood before, he saw his spear laying there broken.
However there was no blood, even the tip of the spear had no blood meaning it failed to penetrate even the softest part of the draval.
He looked around and saw something moving beneath the sand. " Stop." He raised his hand and whispered to Viona who heard him despite the distance between them.
Courtesy to her enhanced senses. They both stood still. " What are they doing? Why aren’t they running?"
One warrior asked. " They can’t, that thing seems to be tracking them through vibrations." Lucy answered with a worried voice.
A few minutes passed, he had managed to convert some of his mana into earth mana. Using it he created a fist sized rock.
Then threw the rock over a hundred metres away. A second later the draval jumped out of sand where the rock landed.
