Last Ruler Of The Empty Throne-Chapter 122: Best way to avoid danger
[SPIRIT: 10]
Spirit energy, the energy that was specialized in manipulating death and its attributes to an extent, it could be corpse controlling similar to John who controlled dead monsters to fight, however using spirit was more efficient for it, or necromancy like they had done previously.
They used the lives of the survivors and evolvers to create a dead and cursed land perfect for summoning skeletal creatures, and it was also perfect for sacrificing one’s life-force for more power.
Though that couldn’t be all of its uses, these were all the uses Jon had seen from the shamans till now. And that was just in the bad side of the energy, the good side of the energy was obviously going to be the opposite.
’Not enough’ he muttered inside him as he tried to control the spirit energy he just obtained. He could move the energy in his body and even release it a bit, but he couldn’t use it in a skill just yet or couldn’t form a skill with it.
If he had gotten enough of the energy, maybe he would have gotten a skill and fortunately, he happy it didn’t happen just yet. He still had to find the skill ’Sun’, and until then, he couldn’t risk learning any other for his future.
Pushing the thoughts to the back of his mind, he looked at the portal again.
Even after about five minutes since he had killed the second realm shaman, no one had come out form the portal, and he was getting a bit impatient waiting for them.
-Don’t tell me you’re thinking of it.
Amelia kept glancing at Jon and the portal continuously. She knew what he was thinking, he wanted to enter the portal. However he had fallen deaf ears to the matter.
He was already looking at another direction, some people had entered his ’divine mind eye’ radar for a while now. And in another direction he could see Jenny, Nancy, the other girls and the evolvers making their way at the moment.
"So it was you." He understood immediately he saw the grey skin and black markings around them like tattoos. They were the ones that caused everything that had happened till now.
He was angry, so angry, however he didn’t rage out of control like he had done before. He had already done something he wasn’t even meant to know about by taking his rage to the next level. And that realization was, he was still going to get his revenge, so why rage out of control when he could take his time and execute his revenge.
So he waited.
...
"Disperse now." The shaman chief shouted and following his command, the shamans dispersed and spaced out themselves.
WHOOOSH
The shaman chief tensed and gritted his teeth just by looking at the bloody figure they were all approaching. ’I will stop you monster.’
There was something about the shaman chief that only the shaman members currently with him knew about. It was about an ability he had, and it was called ’Next-way’
It was a skill that honestly if anyone had, they would want to reject, however when they read the description of the skill, they would thank whoever got it for them. The skill wasn’t complex or anything like that. No, the skill did one thing and only that thing.
It could predict the nearest future.
Though it was only predicting, the skill was so good in that it was just a possibility. Like when he said there was no point in running, it was because even after running, there was a possibility of still getting caught. And it was a high one at that, and it was also the case if they remained where there were.
However, it was only a prediction, it wasn’t accurate like the real future, meaning there were other paths to take. It was a great way to avoid dangers and to find alternative paths, and for them this was the only way.
By sacrificing themselves now, they could later succeed.
And the second good thing about the skill was that, there was no recoil or drawbacks to it. Nobody had to be told that to have a skill that could read the future, a sort of price had to paid.
The person was looking at the exact future, which is normally impossible for anyone else so there had to be some sort of drawbacks.
However, this skill had nothing like that, it was like a normal skill that worked with mana or spirit in the shaman’s case.
And this was exactly the reason the shamans readily accepted his decision. With this, one could say the shamans had a tough mentality.
First, after all their work, they had succeeded in opening a way to their homeland. However, it was all thwarted by an entity they still couldn’t believe was possible and that wasn’t even all, they were then told the only way to survive was to die. It would be too much for a normal person to take in on a normal day however these shamans took it well.
They would die. Heck, they wouldn’t get to even touch him or even know how they died. However, they would stop him from going in. And after stopping him, putting their hopes on Akis, their next chief, they would succeed later.
Upon dispersing, they started running towards Jon who was still waiting patiently or rather, expectantly.
One would ask, were these shamans stupid. They had seen an honored one get killed, yet, them as unranked were still running forward. It was like they were already accepting their deaths, however, that was until-
"NOW"
With the other shout, the shamans shot their hands towards their chest and muttered at the same time.
""Soul sacrifice""
’Is it like that one?’ Jon looked at them activating his ’Moon gaze’. He had seen the previous shamans do something like this when they stuck their hands into their chest and pulled out their hearts.
However, his gaze was telling him it was different.
Well, he really didn’t need his gaze to note the changes about the previous method from the current.
’They didn’t pull out their hearts?’
They stuck their hands inside, however they didn’t pull out their hearts and strangely they weren’t even bleeding even after piercing their hearts.
’And-’ He was almost dumbfounded just looking at it.
It was only recently and even in this fight he had said, it wasn’t possible to use external power or things like that to raise one’s realm. However, what was he witnessing now.
All of them were unranked, however with the black continuously wafting from them and the intense black tattoos that were now covering all almost all their skin, they were clearly standing at the threshold of the first realm to the second.
And, it was all of them.
