Legacy Of The Extra-Chapter 67: A Duel(2)
Chapter 67 - A Duel(2)
"I, Felix Von Frostholm challenge Noah Von Blitzfeld, to a Duel."
Felix's words reverberated in the room, and silence followed. Raiden's eyes widened at the two figures standing face to face.
Neither of them is stepping away.
"Hey, are they really going to fight?"
"Wait, the Blitzfeld has not even accepted the duel yet."
"What do you expect him to do? He is the weakest amongst the Blitzfeld, don't you know he was known as the Disgrace?"
"I heard he only has control over one affinity?"
"Yeah... Sir Felix is going to win, no doubt."
The murmurs began again, waiting for Noah's response to Felix. Forget about the Academy tour, all that was in the feeble minds of these nobles and commoners alike was the challenge the Frostholm heir had thrown out.
I should stop them... Raiden stepped forward but halted as soon as Noah gave him a side glance, his legs froze, not moving. The hell?
[Raiden, don't throw away my advice.] Gabriel warned again. [And also, let them fight. Then, I can gauge the extent of this boy's abilities.]
Yes, sir Gabriel.
"You got that angry from a little joke?" Noah chuckled again. His voice dripping with mockery, he was not taking Felix seriously at all. "You still are an insecure brat after all."
"Just accept the duel, Blitzfeld!" Felix fumed. His veins were popping up in his arms as his knuckles tightened.
"Sure, I accept." Noah stepped forward, his taller frame overshadowing Felix. "But, don't regret it later."
"I won't."
Suddenly, Raiden felt someone tugging at his sleeve. He turned his head to see his sister Leona and Cynthia approaching. Cynthia was only looking at the two idiots before her.
Leona leaned in closer, her voice lowered in a whisper. "Are you not going to stop those two fools? It is the first day of the Academy."
"No," Raiden replied, turning his head back to the two. "I won't. Felix is already fuming with anger, no one can stop him now unless..." He turned to Cynthia, who was still staring at Noah. "Cynthia," Raiden called out to her.
She snapped back and looked at him with her usual icy expression. "What is it?"
She became her usual self again, huh?
"Won't stop them?" Raiden asked.
"No,"
"Fine..."
Raiden shrugged his shoulders. He decided it was best to just let it happen, but still he had a weird feeling crawling up his neck, as if something bad was going to happen.
Not to Noah.
But to Felix.
"This is getting interesting, isn't it?"
A sweet voice attracted everyone's attention. The crowd parted as they noticed the figure approaching them—Platinum Blonde hair cascading down in waves, deep crimson eyes with a glint of amusement as she looked at Felix and Noah.
Celestina smiled and asked. "You two do know what a duel is, right? It could affect both the family's name."
Felix straightened himself and bowed at his waist while putting his hand to his chest. "Yes, your highness." He looked her straight in the eyes. "But I must reclaim the honour both Lady Elisabeth and I have lost due to a disgrace." He gave Noah a side glance, but he did not react at all.
Seeing this, her gaze shifted to the man who had struck headlines on the first day of the Academy. The man who had slapped his own fiancée in front of the whole student body.
"It is good to see you, sir Noah." She raised the hem of her skirt, greeting the young man.
"It is indeed good to see you too, your highness." Noah followed the same gesture as Felix and bowed before her. "I hope you are doing well."
"I indeed am." She replied. "I hope you do know what situation you are getting yourself into?"
"I am aware," Noah replied, his tone never wavering.
"Then, you may proceed." She turned towards Raiden with a knowing smile that he did not feel good about. It was that same twisted smile he had seen since his childhood. "How about you become the referee, sir Raiden?"
Why is she dragging me into this?
[That is good, I can properly study that kid.] Gabriel supported her decision.

Raiden let out a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "As you wish, your highness."
Seeing Raiden's reaction, Celestina let out a small chuckle. Raiden did not want to comply with her request, but the thing is... He just can't reject Royalty. Not him or anyone else. And also, they have been friends since their childhood.
"Let us move outside, then."
—
—
The air outside was fresh with the smell of fertile soil and flowers. Students—both boys and girls—gathered outside the ceremonial hall. They whispered and murmured among themselves.
Even some seniors of the second and third years joined in on the commotion that was happening.
"What is all the commotion?"
"Yeah, what is happening here?"
"Apparently, the Frostholm heir has challenged someone from the Blitzfeld to a duel..."
"A Duel?! This is going to be fun."
"Who is the opponent?"
"It is—I heard his name was Noah or something..."
"Oh, I know him. He is a meek boy, rarely seen on some occasions."
The murmurs entered through Raiden's ears, tensing him up more than the duelists themselves. This is the first day, and I have to deal with this...
His eyes landed on Leona, who was with Cynthia and that beautiful brown haired girl from earlier, Alicia. She smirked at him, showing some weird signs with her fingers.
Typical of her.
Cynthia just stared at the two duellists, completely ignoring Raiden's presence. She switched between her brother and Noah. She stared with something unreadable that Raiden could only frown at.
And then there was that girl Alicia. She is beautiful... is all Raiden could think now. His mind wandered off somewhere else.
"Hey, Raiden! Start the duel already." Came Felix's voice, shattering through his utopia.
"Uhm, y-yes. Are both participants of the duel ready?" He asked, his eyes darting from Felix to Noah.
"Yes," Felix replied, his sapphire gaze not leaving Noah's frame. His face bulged with veins as if he wanted to tear the man in front of him. He reached for his storage ring, taking out a thin curved blade with a knuckle guard at its hilt.
It was a sabre. White and Blue mana surged around Felix as his grip tightened on the sabre's hilt. "Take out your weapon, you bastard."
Noah shook his head, he raised his fists near his face. A silver coat around his forearm and knuckles. "My fists are enough for someone like you." He spat, with a smirk tugging at his lips. He was not taking Felix seriously at all.
It made Felix fume even more, as blue mana burst out of him. His hands generated ice, and frost clung to the curved edge of his blade. "You will regret that." He ground his teeth. White clouds exhaled from his mouth, mixing with the spring air.
Looking at the participant's readiness, Raiden raised his arm in the air. "With this, the duel between Challenger Felix Von Frostholm with the Challenged Noah Von Blitzfeld."
He dropped his arm in a swift vertical arc.
"...Shall begin."
