Legendary Awakening: Strongest Class In the Apocalypse-Chapter 42: Bloodmancer Thalia
Although the world was in absolute shambles, even when facing the mindless zombies and bloodthirsty mutants he didn’t bleed, but now this so‑called bloodmancer, whom he hadn’t even met face to face, could make him bleed.
Xavier heart grew slightly alert; he wasn’t afraid, just curious.
Meanwhile, others like elven prince Sunark and princess Evelyn, who were bowing respectfully, got up and saw Xavier standing tall with his back straight like a spear. Princess Evelyn’s beautiful face slowly tightened into a frown; she had not expected Xavier to behave this way.
Sunark’s expression turned slightly chilly, a hint of killing intent appearing in his eyes.
He could tolerate everything, but if someone disrespected the bloodmancer, and that too so blatantly, he could not tolerate it. Unconsciously, his hand had reached out to grab the hilt of the sheathed sword.
Just as he was about to attack, a hoarse voice came from ahead.
"Ohh, so it is Princess Evelyn and Prince Sunark... hmm, so you have brought guests. How rude of me not to come out and greet them."
These words had barely echoed when both Sunark’s and Evelyn’s faces changed.
"No need, Bloodmancer Thalia.
"No need."
Their responses were identical. The next moment, without even sparing a glance, Sunark made his way inside the temple, quickly disappearing from view.
Princess Evelyn turned to Xavier and the others and slowly started to speak in a low but solemn voice, thinking that earlier Xavier’s "mistake" might have been due to ignorance, so she decided to give some explanation.
"Bloodmancer Thalia is the lone Sequence One being left in our village. If not for her protection, we might not even have made it to this world at all. She is someone who is respected by millions of elves, so please behave yourself."
"Of course, respecting the elders is part of our culture and something that even many humans learned from the old ages," Jackie had to intervene when Xavier didn’t speak and simply gazed deep into the temple.
Princess Evelyn saw his reaction and the frown on her face only tightened; however, she didn’t say anything and instead led the three humans inside the temple.
Once inside, Xavier’s eyes darted around, examining the so‑called temple. It was a large hall, almost big enough to fit hundreds of people. Although the hall was large, after walking inside Xavier felt as if he had walked into some sort of cave. The only source of light in the hallway were two large holes in the roof above. The light from these two holes allowed Xavier and the others to examine the surroundings more clearly: a floor that reminded him of the industrial gyms before the apocalypse, those grimy and sweaty rubber tiles. In the distance sat a couple of figures.
He recognized one of them: elf prince Sunark. Directly opposite him sat a mature elven woman dressed in a black gown, hanging loosely from her body. Her two crimson eyes seemed to twinkle like stars in the dim light. Watching Xavier’s group led by Princess Evelyn walk over, a smile appeared on the woman’s face.
One look and Xavier knew who he was looking at: Bloodmancer Thalia, a First Sequence being of the elven village.
Princess Evelyn stopped when she was finally in front of Bloodmancer Thalia and bowed again. "Respected elder, this is the human that I told you about..."
At those words the smile on Bloodmancer Thalia’s lips widened even further.
"So it is you, benefactor..." Thalia gasped in apparent shock, as if she could really tell Xavier was the one who had saved Evelyn and Lirin.
After that, as if a completely changed person, Thalia warmly welcomed Xavier and the others, hugging each one individually. For some reason she showered Xavier with special care, hugging so tightly that his face was practically buried in her bountiful assets; it was only when he struggled to breathe that she let go of him.
With those actions, the ice between humans and elves broke, the elves happily chatting with Jackie and Millie, allowing them to relax.
Watching this scene, a slightly dazed look appeared in Xavier’s eyes. Witnessing it, he felt as if everything was normal, as if there was no such thing as the apocalypse.
Just as these thoughts appeared in his mind, Xavier shook his head to get rid of them. "No, I can’t think like this. No matter how good it looks, I must not lower my guard."
After all, he should not forget the feeling he had when he was outside the temple. There was no way this Bloodmancer Thalia had gotten to know about him only now... this was highly unlikely. Yet she had attacked him outside—yes, for Xavier that "test" was no less than an attack.
While he was thinking, the conversation finally shifted to the main reason why they were here. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Hmm. Princess Evelyn mentioned our honored guest is trying to find someone. Although I am old and weak, fulfilling an honored guest’s request will not be an issue."
The moment she made this claim, the eyes of the elven priests turned reverent; some of them even started bowing profoundly.
However, Thalia paid no attention to any of this and instead shifted her focus to Millie first, speaking in a low voice.
"Hmm, young girl, I can sense a strong desire for revenge growing in your heart. So young, and yet having to carry such a heavy burden..." By the end of her words, genuine sadness seemed to flash on Thalia’s face.
Then, the next moment, Thalia gestured for Millie to come forward.
"Don’t be afraid, come over here..."
With her figure trembling like a leaf in a storm, Millie still stepped forward and stood in front of Thalia.
Princess Evelyn never left Millie’s side. Although Millie’s performance was not as impressive as Xavier’s, even then she had managed to stay strong against the goblins; this made it clear her potential was also not that bad.
Jackie and Xavier calmly watched the events unfold.
Under their eyes, Bloodmancer Thalia asked Millie to raise her hand upwards. She did as she was told. Next moment, a ceremonial knife appeared in Thalia’s hand out of nowhere. Xavier wasn’t shocked; if he had access to an inventory, there was no way someone like Thalia wouldn’t have it.
Then Thalia made a gentle cut on Millie’s palm. Instantly a thin blood‑red line appeared on her hand and blood started to rapidly gush out.
Millie’s face instantly turned pale as a sheet of paper, but she didn’t scream or cry.
The blood flowing out of the open wound didn’t splash onto the ground but instead gathered into a spinning ball.
Just as Xavier was racking his brain to understand what the hell was going on, suddenly the crimson ball started to glow, then, flying like a bullet, disappeared after hitting Millie’s forehead.
Thalia looked at Millie’s figure and said, "Done. I have cast the karmic spell. Not only will the spell tell you the general location of the murderers, but it will even alert you when they are nearby."
Millie’s face lit up like a torch. Indeed, as Thalia said, she could feel two dark, malicious auras somewhere north of her. Moreover, from their intensity, they weren’t too far away either.
Feeling overwhelmed, Millie bowed again, repeatedly chanting, "Thank you! Thank you so much!"
