Chapter 43: Younger sister whereabouts

While walking step by step, Xavier’s gaze couldn’t stop but unconsciously drift toward Millie’s figure standing in one corner. To think that a happy-go-lucky girl like her would carry such a heavy burden in her heart.

As he walked forward, the focus of everyone present in the hall was on Xavier, no matter who it was.

This was normal, considering how much influence Xavier had on the people surrounding him.

Under the eyes of everyone present, without even being told, Xavier raised his hand and placed it directly in front of Bloodmancer Thalia, waiting for the ceremony to begin.

At such close distance, the pressure emitted by a First-Sequence being was even more direct and brutal. Every moment, Xavier was trying to suppress his fight-or-flight response. Taking a deep breath, he looked directly into the eyes of Bloodmancer Thalia, his gaze crystal clear and decisive.

No matter what, today he was only leaving after he learned about Lina’s status.

Bloodmancer Thalia also did not waste any time. The corner of her lips curled upward as she gestured.

"Very well. Let’s begin."

With those words, she took out another ceremonial knife from her inventory.

Xavier only felt a faint prickling sensation on his palm when blood slowly started to gush out, forming a spinning ball a few inches below his hand.

Bloodmancer Thalia closed her eyes, chanting something in an unfamiliar language.

Time passed, and soon five minutes went by without anyone saying anything.

By this point, Princess Evelyn and Jackie’s eyes had a strange look in them as they stared at Bloodmancer Thalia’s figure.

Did something happen? Last time it didn’t take this long.

Not only them, but Xavier also had the same concern.

He was just about to ask when he noticed Bloodmancer Thalia’s long eyelashes fluttering wildly, as if she were having some sort of nightmare. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Hmm... what happened? Xavier thought, with a slightly anxious look on his face, his thoughts turning paranoid by the second.

Don’t tell me something happened to Lina...

His expression turned dark like charcoal.

As if floodgates had been opened, a strong feeling of regret filled his heart.

I should have stayed the entire night here. I should have rushed back home when I had the chance... maybe I would have been able to save her.

The more he thought about it, the darker his thoughts became.

Maybe noticing his mental state, even Zerin was alerted. Her voice, filled with alertness, echoed in his mind as she tried to calm him down.

"Don’t think too much. Did you really think you could have reached her? Do you know how many monsters are roaming outside? And most importantly, you are just a non-evolved human. Even if you had somehow evolved, you still wouldn’t have been able to do anything."

However, instead of calming Xavier down, Zerin’s words were like sparks that further ignited the fury in his heart.

What did she mean by those words? Did she really think he wasn’t capable enough to save her?

Before he could retort, Bloodmancer Thalia’s eyes opened, and a slightly confused look appeared on her face.

Xavier didn’t notice this. He immediately asked,

"Tell me what happened. Did you manage to find Lina’s location? Is she safe?"

Thalia didn’t seem to be paying attention to his words seemingly still lost in her won thoughts. After a brief moment, a look of clarity appeared on her face.

"Strange... very strange. Something seems to be interfering, making it difficult for me to deduce her exact location."

"Someone interfering...?"

Xavier’s heart instantly chilled, but at the same time, a wave of relief washed over him.

From Thalia’s words, he could deduce many things. First, his younger sister Lina was fine. But because of some interference, Thalia couldn’t find her exact location.

Thalia nodded and continued.

"Exactly. But there is also another possibility, although it should not be possible."

"What possibility?" Xavier immediately asked.

Thalia didn’t answer right away. Instead, she thought for a moment as if gathering her thoughts.

"How should I say this... It’s either someone interfering, or she is too far away from my detection range for me to pinpoint her exact location."

"Just how far would that have to be...?"

"I am not sure, but she could be outside the boundaries of this country... or maybe even farther away."

Outside the boundaries of USA, that would mean Lina was at least thousands of kilometers away, that was simply not possible.

Before Xavier could interrupt, Thalia sighed.

"Only if you were a First-Sequence being. Detecting her using your blood would be much easier."

Xavier’s eyes flickered with a look of enlightenment. Then he spoke in a slightly relieved tone.

"You could have told me earlier. If I had known this before, the sun would only rise when I reached the First Sequence."

The feeling of supreme confidence was felt by everyone present in the hall.

Some elves who were also present almost laughed out loud.

One elf who was closest to Xavier simply smiled and muttered,

"It seems this human still doesn’t know just how difficult it is to evolve."

"Doesn’t he know that only one in thousands could successfully reach the First Sequence? Moreover, how long has it even been since this world integrated with the Infinite Records?"

"Considering the time, he might still be stuck at Level 5 or something."

Another elf, not feeling confident, shook his head.

"I hope this human does not take unnecessary risks."

Prince Sunark was the loudest in expressing his opinion. He was someone who had trained for years and still had yet to reach the First Sequence, yet this arrogant human think he could reach first sequence in one night.

However, the only ones who didn’t show much reaction were the three women who had watched Xavier in action.

Princess Evelyn, Millie, and Jackie had strange looks in their eyes as they heard the crowd ruthlessly criticize Xavier’s confidence.

"Oh really?"

Bloodmancer Thalia looked at Xavier with a slightly interested look in her eyes. She had a feeling that either this human was truly capable... or completely stupid.

There was nothing in between.

Xavier simply nodded his head as if it were a matter of fact.

Thalia’s lips rose upward, and she said with a smile,

"You know what, human? As long as you can reach the First Sequence in three days, I will use my bloodline magic again to find your sister."

Her offer echoed like thunder on a clear day, instantly silencing the entire hall.

The discussions immediately quieted down.

The eyes of every elf present focused on Bloodmancer Thalia, worry and concern clear in their expressions.

"No! You can’t do this, Elder Thalia!"

Sunark was the first to protest.
