Legendary Traveler: By Earning Progress Points I will Become Supreme!-Chapter 184: The Thurston Family (6)
Only someone who has seen the horrors of being a Traveler could have such a view on the profession or way of life, and Jason was just that person.
On the outside, he looked rough and tough, but only his family knew about his softer side and the love he truly felt for each one of them.
That is why Aoni wasn't in the least bit surprised upon hearing what his Dad said. In fact, he wouldn't have been shocked if Jason and Lea had long since set up college funds or set aside money to be used in the event that their children didn't Awaken.
"I see…" what else could he say? Sorry for awakening? It's not like he had any say in the matter.
"While the others tally up the resources you brought back and come up with a business model, how about you tell me and your mother about your territory?" Jason said with a warm smile filled with that dreaded emotion that Aoni outright hated…hope.
"If I had to describe it in a single word, it would be isolation. Even from up above in the Flume, there is absolutely nothing around me except a vast expanse of mountains and white." Drumming his fingers on the table and casting a sidelong glance at Clara, since she was still playing with Vestr, Aoni began a lengthy and in-depth explanation about his Territory.
From being at the top of the tallest mountain he'd ever seen to the extremely wide variety of monsters and creatures, along with the existence of his underground Cavern, no stone was left unturned, and he willingly handed over every ounce of intelligence the combined effort of himself and Nyria had gathered.
Including that of the large shadow figure off in the distance that Aoni couldn't identify; however, when he got to that part, he noticed that the once-busy dining room had fallen silent.
"A colossus, hell, you really are in the middle of nowhere," Anthony stated with wide eyes and a bit of shock plastered across his face.
"Colossus? The heck is that?" Clara and Aoni accidentally said in unison, causing Clara to look at her brother endearingly while Aoni glared in annoyance.
"Think super big, super strong monster. There are only a handful of known Colossus scattered across the world of Genovia, and each one is at the pinnacle of power for their area."
"Due to their insane lifespans and power, they are generally avoided at all costs, yet treated like deities because, at any given moment, the Colossus could destroy civilizations on a whim." This time, it was Jason speaking, and while he did, the worry in his eyes was mixed with confusion.
"And you say it just looked at you and then turned to leave without doing anything?"
"Uh…pretty much; I mean, I think it stared at me, but given how far away it was and that it basically looked like a giant blob in the distance, I have no way of knowing for sure." Scratching his cheek, Aoni shifted in his seat and stared down at the table.
"Dad, this could be a good thing; if it left him alone and didn't move in on his Territory after the barrier came down, then that means it's a Protector type and not one of those aggro monsters that bring death and destruction. It also means that Aoni's Territory is truly in uncharted land because, to my knowledge, there hasn't ever been an Ice-Based Colossus documented." Placing down a neatly packaged pile of chimera meat, Charlotte added before casting a glance at her baby brother.
"Unknown land, a colossus, abundant resources, and a wide variety of lifeforms living nearby, and that Cavern, it may very well be exactly what we are looking for in case of emergencies." This time, it was the ever-quiet Archie who stole everyone's attention.
"Providing you can bolster up Aoni's territories defenses and build a stable environment; there is no reason it shouldn't work as a fortified safe zone in the event that everything goes to shit. I still have to do some digging, but given how long the Flume trip is to his Territory, there's a very good chance no human apart from maybe some Genovian Races has ever set foot in that area of Genovia."
"Also, the final tally is approximately 32 million 318 thousand and 52 Crypto Dollars, the largest haul any of us have ever brought back to Terra." Holding up a calculator for everyone to see, the number 32,318,052 was clearly printed, causing another round of gasps to spread through the dining room.
"Let me guess, that golden meat is the main source of income, isn't it?" To be honest, after receiving over a million CryptoDollars for his junk, Aoni wasn't shocked to see the actual good stuff he kept in his inventory was worth a pretty penny.
And given the fact that he knew more about that meat than anyone else, he was fairly certain it made up the largest portion of funds.
"Yes, from the scans, it not only permanently boosts the stats of anyone under D-Rank, but it also contains a high amount of Elementalized Ice Energia, allowing for steady growth in all facets." Giving his little brother a curt nod, Archie separated the golden meat from the other piles.

"Question, Archie, do you know what animal it comes from? Or is that another unknown?" Suddenly remembering that every single creature he'd come across in Genovia had weirdly scientific names, Aoni was curious to know if they'd been seen before.
Honestly, he was intrigued by the words spoken by his brother Archie.
"According to my scanner, it's from a monster called a Polar-Horn Bear."
"Huh! Polar-Horn Bear, what in the hell kind of name is that?" Looking like she smelled a fart, Clara stiffened beside Aoni, curious about the origins of the meat; however, when she looked down at her beloved baby brother, she noted he seemed lost in thought.
Soon enough, everyone had turned to the youngest traveler in the family because they knew Aoni well enough to understand he knew something they didn't.
From the way he was chewing his bottom lip and his unsettled body language, it was clear to those present he was fighting with what he was going to say next.
