LEVEL 0 IMMORTAL-Chapter 148: You Are Made of Poison
Elias glanced at the flower that was tucked beside his hips. The Commander, his master, had called it a Divine Vestige, and he had used it to kill the mutated cannibal. For something so poisonous, Elias had to always keep it enclosed, and he wondered why he chose to keep a poisonous flower by his side, instead of burying it far away from him.
"Maybe because, like this flower, I am also made of poison."
Previously, the flower that resembled a rose had only five petals, but after devouring the unknown heart from the cannibal leader, it had begun to develop the sixth petal, but it was still small... Elias did not know if it needed to devour more hearts like those to grow further, or if its growth was just slow like a plant.
However, he expected the poisonous ability of this Divine Vestige to grow, and he thought that he was not using this flower to its true potential, and most likely would only be able to use it at the Mist Phantom level.
He had planned to visit Supervisor Chen today... Yesterday, the man had given him a week of grace, and Elias was on the fourth day; there was no reason to rush, but he wanted to go early to ensure that no one took his position from him.
Elias would be entering the Fragment of Divinity again in the near future, and if the Fragment was a one-to-one representation of the present city of Stormfall, then it was extremely important that he knew and understood this city well enough.
He had seen too many strange things in that tunnel, and Elias needed the chance to study them when he was not being chased by monsters.
Elias’s interest in Alchemistry was also a factor. No matter how strong his body or his talents became, his first love was that of a Craftman, and he knew that this path was a long one that had been fully developed by the gods in the past, and there may be great surprises waiting for him ahead if he stuck with it.
While his teachers here in the Asylum were great, Elias did not look away from the fact that they were soldiers first, and whatever craft they taught him was from their personal experience, and they were not the best at what they did.
Through Supervisor Chen, Elias hoped to join the Guild, since they had the best craftsman in the world, and getting a teacher and a structured plan for advancement was truly essential.
Elias did not know when he was going to have free days in the future, nor was he even planning on getting one. His life was on a timer, and every moment he was not spending to accelerate his power and knowledge was one where he was slowly sliding towards his doom.
His slumber was disturbing, but Elias believed that if he could stop himself from getting hurt more often, then the chance of falling into such deep sleep might drastically reduce; he would need to experiment to ensure that it was indeed his regenerating factor that was causing him to sleep for such a long time.
Looking at his appearance one more time, especially his long red hair, Elias knew that he could not walk around like a normal person any longer because he had become frankly too pretty. There was also something strange about his eyes, although now they were green, but there were faint lights of different colors shining beneath. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Perhaps it was the body responding to all of his attributes or the forging of his flesh, Elias’ body was slowly becoming even more perfect, and he knew that this sort of change was not natural, else all Siphon would be incredibly beautiful. This must be an effect of being an Ascendant Candidate, but Elias could not be sure; the only other angel he had met was the Commander.
Before he headed out, Elias needed to deal with two things: the first would be related to his third Lumina Art, the Art of Stone, which he felt was related to the stone blade that was in the other room, and the second would be the issue of clothing.
Inside the Asylum, Elias could wear his swarm, but he could not do that outside these walls, so he did not attract all the wrong attention.
His body had grown, and he needed to make new clothes for himself, or better yet, buy them. He could afford to waste time on side activities as a mortal, but not now when every moment counted.
With the first part of the day planned, Elias hurried to the bathroom, where he enjoyed the cold water rushing down his body a little too much, as he remained under the shower for ten minutes. He did not think he needed to bathe, because he hardly sweated, even under intense action, and it seemed that his swarm was cleaning his body even when he was not telling them to do so; perhaps it was all linked to the way they were able to multiply his vitality pool.
Ensuring that his physical state was in the most perfect shape should be one of the criteria for ensuring that his Vitality always remained tripled. Elias was a bit unaware of how the System was able to place a number on his health pool, but so far, it was very accurate.
Stepping out of his bathroom, Elias walked over to his lab, which was the biggest room inside his home. Along the way, the swarm constructed a comfortable robe for him, but no footwear. Elias preferred some part of him connecting to the ground.
Elias glanced over at the first room, which had the door that led to the outside, and saw his workbag and another large package. It would seem that while he was asleep, one of the members of the Order had entered through the front door and dropped off a package.
He did not find this surprising because someone would have come into his home to check up on him throughout yesterday, and yet he had not awakened from his sleep.
Elias hoped it was because he did not sense any danger that was the reason he did not wake up; otherwise, he would need to work on his perception even further.
Picking up his workbag, it contained everything that he had placed inside, including the stone blade, and gently placing it aside, he opened the next larger package and found that it was filled with clothes and a note.
He would recognize the handwriting of Lyssa anywhere,
’It’s a good thing you are deciding to sleep an entire day. I measured you while you were sleeping. Thanks to the Ascendants, you have not grown taller! Still, Brother Valerius tells me that you won’t be growing taller anymore as the first spark of divinity inside you have brought your body to the peak of its potential in the aspect of physical shape, and thats good, because from now on you are my model... try on these clothes, give me feedback, and most especially I left little nuggets of surprise in each of them... I expect you to find them!’
Elias smiled as he read the note again, and then purple dust emerged from his fingers and consumed the note. He paused at this change, not expecting his swarm to follow his unconscious reaction to dispose of this note in such a manner.
He was reminded that the swarm grew through battle, and he had taken them for quite a ride during the fight in the oasis.
