Level up is hard? I can Directly Purchase infinite Levels!-Chapter 115: Prey, Identity Shift
Before they could react, another graceful figure flew into view.
Connie waved her hand, unleashing an ice-blue beam imbued with destructive energy. In an instant, it pierced through the bodies of seven or eight alien races’ geniuses, sending them flying.
The remaining alien races’ geniuses, attempting to close in, were temporarily blocked by an ice crystal wall that Connie conjured.
The surviving human geniuses took the opportunity to quickly retreat.
Lex, Rob, and the others regained their composure and immediately charged at Raine with killing intent.
Boom!
Raine tightened his grip on Andy’s head. The skull exploded like a watermelon, sending red and white splattering everywhere.
[ Ding! Killed an Expert-level powerhouse, bloodstone +3850! ]
The brutal scene made Lex, Rob, and the others’ pupils contract, their steps instinctively retreating.
"Not a single one of you is getting away!" Raine’s voice was devoid of warmth.
With the Thunder Light Wings and Lightstep activated simultaneously, Raine became a streak of light, darting between the remaining alien races’ geniuses. Each time he flickered, a brief and anguished scream followed.
Ah! Ah!
However, every time they tried to lock onto Raine, all they could hear were the death screams of their comrades. They couldn’t capture Raine’s movements at all.
"His speed is too fast, we can’t catch him!"
"Thunder Light from the Thunderclan!"
"This is impossible!?"
Several alien races’ faces turned panicked.
The sound of those screams, so close and yet so distant, was like a nightmare. It filled them with a strong sense of unease.
Thompson and the other human geniuses, seeing reinforcements arrive, felt their spirits lift and immediately launched a counterattack.
"It seems like a human powerhouse!"
Dozens of Master-level Protectors from the alien races could no longer just watch. They all joined the fray, surrounding Raine from all sides.
Raine wasted no time and immediately ascended two ranks, his aura skyrocketing as he reached Master-level!
Then, the Blackwater Clan’s Dark Descent quietly activated!
A dark mist that seemed capable of swallowing all light emanated from Raine, quickly spreading around him and engulfing the ruined area for miles.
The world turned pitch black, and even mind power was strongly disrupted and corroded.
Thompson and the others also lost their sense of direction.
The dozen or so Master-level Protectors were also plunged into darkness, their hearts filled with terror. They quickly took to the air, trying to escape, but no matter how high they flew, they remained surrounded by the endless blackness.
Meanwhile, Raine could see every movement in the dark domain clearly.
With Dark Avatar activated, he took out the Blackwater Sacred Pearl in one hand and the Thunder Prison Blade in the other.
Enhanced by the extreme darkness, Raine moved like a silent reaper, diving into the darkness and starting his efficient hunt.
"Ah—!"
"Ugh—ah!"
The cries of agony echoed, reverberating through the absolute darkness, sounding particularly eerie.
"Damned cowards, come out!" the Protectors, trapped in the darkness, yelled angrily, their minds cracking. They desperately summoned their Godforms, launching wide-scale attacks.
But the screams came from all directions—left, right, up, down—they couldn’t pinpoint the source. Their mental state began to crumble.
"Cowards, get out here!" Lex and Rob, losing their composure, flew wildly through the darkness. They just wanted to escape this death domain.
But the cries of agony kept echoing, like the tolling of a death bell.
Finally, one Master-level Protector, after having half of his body severed, chose to self-destruct in despair!
Boom——!!!
The destruction storm exploded in the darkness, shattering the space in that area!
The spreading dark mist was temporarily drawn away by the terrifying collapse force.
Raine was violently thrown back by the explosion’s shockwave.
The others fared even worse, like rag dolls, crashing into the broken spire and the ground.
Thompson, even with the Blood Knight Armor protecting him, felt his organs shift. Blood flowed along the inner walls of his armor as he opened his faceplate and spat out several mouthfuls of congealed blood.
The others were similarly badly injured.
Lex had also taken a heavy hit, his energy waning.
Rob’s silver bones were incredibly hard, but the soul flame in his skull flickered wildly, unstable from the intense shock.
When the darkness finally cleared, the sky only showed shattered, mirror-like voids.
The ground was littered with the corpses of over thirty alien races’ geniuses and a dozen Protectors.
Although Raine had also endured the blast from the self-destruction, the powerful healing ability of the Obsidian Golem Codex was rapidly repairing his injuries.
His gaze locked onto the remaining Lex and Rob, and an immense pressure descended.
Lex and Rob wanted to flee.
"Some petty pests think they can escape?!" Raine’s voice rang out coldly.
The surviving human geniuses immediately blocked their path with all their might.
Thompson, gritting his teeth through the pain, locked onto his target.
Lex and Rob stood back to back, their faces pale.
The situation had completely reversed. The identities of hunter and prey had switched in an instant.
Thompson moved with lightning speed. A pair of auxiliary wings shot out from the back of his mech, drastically increasing his speed. He swung his sword at Lex!
Lex and Rob tried to resist, but Raine’s foot was already descending.
The pressure of Master-level power weighed down on them like a mountain, holding them in place.
Crack!
Lex was cleaved into three pieces by Thompson’s two swift strikes!
Rob’s silver bones were incredibly hard, and though he took the hit, the soul flame in his skull flickered violently.
Without Raine’s suppression, he might have been able to escape.
But they had forgotten one person—Connie!
She had once fought against the Skeleton Royalty and knew its weaknesses.
Just as Thompson struck, an intense cold wind swept through, the sound of freezing crackling through the void.
Rob, along with the surrounding space, was instantly frozen!
Then, a thin yet deadly ice-blue beam struck precisely at the gap in his skull.
Crack!
Like a frozen lake shattering, the soul flame in Rob’s skull shattered with a loud crack.
His silver skeleton, deprived of its soul’s support, fell apart and scattered on the ground.
...
The battle quickly ended.
Connie looked at Raine, her eyes wide in disbelief, filled with shock.
In such a short amount of time, he had killed over a dozen Master-level powerhouses, and could instantly rise from Elite to Master-level...
These unbelievable feats were beyond her understanding.
When he said he would be her protector, she hadn’t fully understood, nor dared to think too much about it.
Now, she truly realized that he wasn’t just a genius—he was a peerless prodigy with terrifying combat power that was beyond estimation!
Thompson also looked at Raine in disbelief, wondering which previously unknown human genius he was.
Out of their original group of more than ten, only five remained.
Joanna and the other two had managed to escape under the cover of their comrades’ self-destruction.
Looking at the shattered bodies of their fallen companions, the surviving few were filled with deep sorrow.
"We’ll take them back... even if we have to bury them, we’ll bury them in the land of our homeland," Thompson said hoarsely.
The other four silently began to gather their fallen comrades’ bodies.
