Leveling Endlessly with the Strongest System!-Chapter 427: Confession
Delilah's yearning for Roy was evident to anyone who laid eyes on her, and it was clear that she held Roy in the highest regard.
She appeared to be a delicate flower yearning for his light, soaking up every bit of warmth he had to offer.
While she knew deep down that Roy was a married man, Delilah found herself unable to resist his charm and allure. At this moment, the thought of Roy's marital status hardly registered in her mind. To Delilah, it was a mere technicality, a detail that should not stand in the way of their connection. What they had shared thus far was beyond the confines of conventional relationships; they had something special, something that transcended societal norms and expectations. They started out as enemies and ended up as more than just friends. Their relationship was still undefined as neither had made an attempt to confess their love.
But Delilah had enough of giving up on love and overlooking the perfect gem that was right in front of her. She had made up her mind; she was not going to give up on Roy, not now, not ever. Although there was an obstacle between them that neither she nor he could remove, and there were hurdles to jump over and barriers to break down, she felt these challenges were insignificant in the face of what she could get, mere trifles not worth her attention.
She knew that a person like Roy was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and she had to seize it, make him hers, no matter what. Even though it went against her perceived notion of a perfect love life that only had a man and his wife and no one in between, she was willing to be with him, to be his. Even if the odds were against them, even if society deemed their love taboo, she wanted to love him with all her heart.
The feelings that Delilah held for Roy were too strong, too intense, and too real for her to contain any longer. She wanted to act on them instead of letting them rot inside. This time she found it impossible to contain the feelings she held for him.
Delilah's heart was thumping loudly and fastly as she gathered up the courage to tell Roy how she felt.
"You do know I love you, right?" She asked, her voice quivering with nervousness and vulnerability. Her heart was racing, and her palms were clammy as she waited for his response. Confessing her feelings hadn't been easy for her. Her messy childhood led her to believe that exposing her vulnerable side would never end well. Roy was a lucky man as she was willing to show all her sides to him.
Roy felt a rush of warmth and tenderness wash over him as he heard her confession.
He held her close, indulging in her sweetness, feeling her love for him that was emanating from every fiber of her being. He gazed deeply into her eyes, his heart swelling with emotion. God knows what magic he cast, but it had made her fall head over heels for him.
"I know," he said in a low, husky voice that sent shivers of excitement down her spine. "And you know I love you too, more than words can express."
Happiness came all too suddenly for Delilah. She wasn't able to register it. She felt as if it was all a dream that would end when she woke up. She felt insecure.
"You don't mean it. You are saying this to keep my heart."
"Why else would I be flirtatious whenever you were around? I teased you because I wanted your attention. Sure, at first, it was because you were the most beautiful woman I had ever laid my eyes on, and I felt lustful for you. I won't deny it. But it's also the truth that my feelings for you changed after we spent time together and I got to know you better. Delilah, It isn't just your beauty that attracts me. I love you for who you are. You have won me over with your silliness, hot-headedness, and gentleness."
Roy was enlightened back in the cave when he saw how afraid she was of the dark. When she was feeling helpless, he was overwhelmed by the thought of comforting her. He never wanted to see her afraid, and he was always wanted to be there for her when she needed him. He wanted to be a man that could protect her from the world and give her whatever she needed. What could it be if not love?
Delilah's heart skipped a beat at his words, and she clung to him tightly, feeling safe and loved in his embrace. Tears welled up in her eyes, not because of sadness but because of happiness. She looked up at him, meeting his eyes that seemed to overflow with desire, and she asked hesitantly, "What do you see me as? Will I be just another trophy you add to your harem?"
Roy shook his head, a smile spreading across his face. "No, you're so much more than that. You're strong, independent, beautiful, and everything I could ever want in a partner."
Delilah was just his type, not only in shape but also personality. True, her past was messy, and her killings couldn't be justified, but none of that would have happened if she had been given the childhood she deserved. The true villains were the monsters that caged her up. He didn't feel the need to judge her, especially because she had never killed people indiscriminately. Before she met him, she took up assassination jobs to feed orphans, and after he got her to follow him, she hadn't done anything remotely bad. She had already turned over a new leaf.
Delilah blushed at his words, feeling a rush of happiness and contentment fill her heart.
Then, she took a deep breath and asked the question that had been weighing on her mind for so long. "Should I take it as a proposal? Are you willing to give 'us' a chance?"
