Chapter 328 The girl who lost her all

Kevin finally breathed a sigh of relief as his plan was successful and he was saved.

Just when the crowd started beating the door he pulled out his two artifacts, one which froze everything momentarily, giving him enough time to use his second artifact Slave's Silence, one which can be used to control their slaves perfectly.

The clan of Kevin had the habit of marking their chosen maids by slave mark to make sure none betray their masters. This mark and control is then handed over to the person they're assigned to.

Though the naive fool Kevin had already freed Levi from slave duties and made her a shadow by his side, he couldn't erase the mark applied on her soul. Atleast not completely.

That's why by using the artifact that could control a bound slave perfectly, he altered a few things in Levi's mind. Replacing roles of his own and Leon's. Leading to the current scene.

"I'm sorry Levi. I didn't want to do this either, but I had no choice' He said in his heart knowing what kind of effects that artifact could have on her. He turned his eyes and kept watching Leon struggling against the mad crowd of students, as he kept hugging the beauty.

[Loki laughs at your foolishness.]

A sudden message on the world system broke his thoughts and got him thinking about why a God was paying attention to him here.

[The little trick of yours would only last for about 12 hours before she gains back her memories, and then she'll have you caught.]

'What? That's impossible.'

[Hehehe, blame your naivety for removing the original slave mark. You idiot mortal.]

'Whattt?'

As Kevin heard the words of Loki a shiver ran down his spine as he realized he really was a fool. He should've realized it when he felt the rejection during the memory spell.

'No, no, no, it can't be. I can't get caught. I still have to win my place at the sect. Prove myself in the academy. Wait, do I need to… kill her to… No, what am I thinking, she's mine..'

While Kevin started spiraling down his own thoughts the laughter of Loki kept echoing in his ears laughing at his coming misery.

[Don't worry about the punishments, mortal. The genius will kill you first before the academy does. Hehehe]

Loki's next word brought his focus back to Leon, who was glaring daggers at him in hatred and anger, as he blamed him for all these insults and loss of reputation.

As for blaming Levi, well, how can a protagonist ever blame a pretty girl.

[Oh his sister is here to save him. Ahhhahaha you're dead kid. Dead, done and dusted. Unless of course, you kill him first.....] Loki's playful words came to his ears, as Kevin remembered who Leon's sister was.

'No, I_I can't let him live.' A sudden thought was planted in his brain and the more he heard of Loki's words and laughter, the more sure he became that he needed to kill Leon to ensure his safety.

'Not just him, maybe I should kill her too.' This thought also started growing in his mind as he glanced at Levi. The hand holding her tightening its grip, until he heard her groan in pain and woke up again. novelbuddy. com

'No, no, no, what am I thinking, I can't kill her. I love her. Yes, I'll just talk to her and explain that someone drugged me and she'll understand. She likes me too, right. She has to be.' Surprised by his own thinking, Kevin hurriedly tried to push that thought away, as Loki silently whisked away as his job was done.

[Loki, you know I've seen my fate right. These two guys are supposed to be best friends and that girl, his future wife.]

That's what Rio told Loki this morning, and it certainly felt exhilarating for Loki to break the plans of fate.

He loved this feeling. To show a middle finger to high heavens and say fuck you fate. To be a rebel and feel free of anyone's constraints. It was almost addicting. Not to mention the free drama he gets to watch.

'I was right to choose him as my puppet.' Loki thought in his mind while giggling to himself, over his decision to let Hela choose Rio years ago. 'I bet even the old man Odin and the arrogant Luci, won't see him coming, hahaha it's going to be so much fun.'

Rio, who closely watched all of Kevin's changing expressions, was already aware that the idea of enmity between the hero and this idiot brother of his was planted successfully, so he just turned back and prepared to leave.

Already aware of what might happen next.

"You're leaving?" Rebecca asked as she followed him too.

"Well, the council president is here, and I know from personal experience that she's righteous and moral, so I'm sure she'll be impartial and do the right thing." Rio said as he walked by Lisa who was moving ahead to save her brother from the angry mob. "Even though it ends up hurting those close to her."

Lisa halted in her tracks as the words of Rio reached her ears, causing a distant memory to resurface again.

.....

The red sky spreading waves of corrosion mana, a seemingly infinite hordes of undeads surrounding them from all sides, while mages of Warzy kept showering them with spells to block their path and kill them. The echoing screams of wounded students, and the howling cries of the monsters calling more of their brethren to take their place, while the heavy earthquakes that signaled the end of that dungeon and their last chance to escape safely was about to crash- all the scenes painted a grim picture of a gruesome battle that some inexperienced first year students were forced to fight.

"We don't have any time. We should go while he's holding them off." Alfred said, looking at Rio, who was fighting against Virgil and two other Warzy minions.

Kendrick, who couldn't even stand straight as black marks of poison covered half his body and face, result of his battle against Rio whom he tried to kill, leaned on Alfred and spoke up too. "It already looks like they're after him anyway, we should just take this chance and run towards the exit."

"More than half the students have been killed, I don't wanna die in this dungeon."

"You're the leader, aren't you? Make a choice already."

"Fuck leadership, I'm leaving. Prince Alfred let's go. If she wants to die then let her die."

One by one all the students started saying the same words, blocking Lisa who wanted to lead a team to help Rio, who already looked like he was about to fall down any moment now with how injured he got after protecting her, Bernhardt and half these people few hours ago.

"We trusted you and followed you everywhere. Say something damn it. Don't just stand there." Another student came up to her and grabbed her shoulders and shook her body to bring her focus back.

"Lisa, they're right. All of us have lost our mana and most of the weapons or potions we brought. We've been fighting nonstop for three days now, any more of it and we'll all die. Save whoever we can, that's what he would want too." Ethan, another classmate of her came forward and spoke his point.

"We can't_ leave him to die. He just saved all your lives yesterday, why don't you understand that." she said in almost a pleading tone, hoping atleast someone would still have their humanity and support her. Yet none did.

Bernhardt was already in a coma, his life and death hanging by a thread. And Dahlia, she was dead - and now no one left here wanted to help her at all.

"You can't save him, you idiot. Don't you see. He's already dead." Alfred said, pointing at Rio who got stabbed near his heart as Virgil plunged a sword on his back, pushing it all the way until it passed right through his chest.

"What about the other villains, who'll handle them, they're still blocking the view." Kendrick said looking at the flying figures keeping their eyes on their group.

"Don't worry, I already have a plan." Alfred said and looked at Lisa, a cold glint passing his eyes. 'Just one more push, and he'll be dead. As for burnhard, I'll handle him too. I can't disappoint Zeus at any cost.'

...

"Lisa, let's go." The girl following behind her said and brought Lisa back to her senses in present.

Lisa looked at Rio's leaving back, joking with Rebecca, who seemed not so happy with his words. Her eyes landed on the shining star etched on Becca's golden hair and she furrowed her brows as a complicated look passed through her eyes.

Pushing the memories of their past aside, she just closed her eyes and gave a self deprecating smile to herself. Shaking her head to her friends she stomped her feet on the ground and flared her mana, sending waves of air to pass through the crowd of students blocking her path. Directly sending few of the mob to fly and crash to the nearby walls.

"Move" She said, as she grabbed the hand of Kevin who was about to give a solid mana coated punch to Leon's chest, hoping to blast his heart in one go and kill him.

"The student council will do the justice. Now back off." She coldly said and just one look at her angry expression chilled Kevin's heart, as he hurriedly backed away.
