Life Of A Nobody - as a Villain-Chapter 463: Aelthar’s nightmare -1
Aelthar didn't know why, but for some reason, something deep in his soul, screamed at him to run.
Every fiber of his divine being trembled in an unspoken terror, a warning for some horrible future.
He looked at Rio, who was sitting silently on the ground, panting heavily like a possessed animal and couldn't help but wonder if the mortal had any other cards he hadn't shown.
'Whatever it is, I should just focus on leaving this place first.' He thought, already feeling the number of peeping eyes increasing with every passing second.
But he looked at the followers of night and their barrier, and couldn't help but think there was no other option, besides going forward.
Towards Rio.
Even though, in his heart, he felt provoking the mortal now could be dangerous, he had to do just that, if he wanted to get out safely.
'No matter what he does, I still have some divinity left. It should be enough to hold him back for some time.' He said to himself, calming his restless heart and gathering his courage for what's to come.
Yet his slightly trembling fingers were proof of the chills that swept up his spine.
"What happened, mortal?" He spoke, his voice devoid of any worry. His expression and body language showing no sign of hesitation or any hint of fear.
He stepped forward, slowly walking towards Rio.
"Don't tell me that girl actually meant something to you?" The god spoke, twirling his fingers while the invisible fog moved towards the unconscious body of Katherine.
"Too bad you missed the mark and ended up killing her yourself. The guilt _ it must be painful."
As Aelthar's words finished, his lips started to curl up in a smile.
After much thought, he finally found a way to survive.
(With her life in my hands, I'll finally tame you. And after I escape….hehe)
But just then, before his beautiful fantasy could be fulfilled in imagination… he felt the connection between his fingers and his fog getting cut off.
Before the god's curled lips could come down or his confusion could be answered, a pain swept up his consciousness as small pieces started dropping from his hand.
It felt like someone grabbed his arm and pressed it into some kind of meat grinder. And soon pieces smaller than an inch dropped down like dust. Dyeing the land in gore and golden blood.
It started with his nails, then to the fingers, and then in seconds, half his arm was torn to shreds.
The god tried to channel his powers and block whatever magic or spell was causing this pain, yet to his horror, he felt his powers slipping away.
Looking down to the ground where his blood had just now formed a shining pool, was now complete darkness.
An unfamiliar shadow was standing under his figure. Swallowing every piece of his being and sucking away at his divinity.
"Gluttony." Aelthar muttered and immediately looked up.
His first instinct now wasn't to trace Rio or to fight him, but to reach Katherine and capture her.
But there in front of the frail mortal girl stood Rio.
His gaze locked onto the god, and in those cold dead eyes, Aelthar saw …. his own demise.
Any hope, illusion, or false courage the god had previously gathered, immediately disappeared as he stared into that darkness.
His lips parted, but no words came out. The only thought that remained in his mind was a single, desperate prayer.
Let it be quick.
But how could that be possible?
Aelthar watched as Rio gently swiped his fingers, and the next second, the pain tearing away at his body disappeared.
He looked down at his right hand, only to see it empty, and still dripping blood.
Now both his hands were gone.
"Disperse." Rio muttered, and under Aelthar's surprised gaze, the bindings of shadow beneath his feet disappeared too.
Along with the hungry gnarls of the gluttony which obviously sounded not very satisfied.
Before Aelthar could come to his senses and make use of this chance to escape, a voice reached his ears.
"She was my friend."
Rio's words echoed from behind, and before the god turned around, he felt a gust of heatwave scarring his back.
Then came the soul burning pain as Rio grabbed his neck from one hand and pressed his other arm wrapped in hellfire at the god's open injury.
The flame seared the wound, cauterizing it. Making his skin melt in a blistering wave and stop the bleeding. - But only for a second, as then Rio's fingers, now turned darker under the shade of his element, and dug deeper into his soft tissue.
Scratching his skin and ripping it apart once more.
The cycle continued for a few times and the god couldn't help but howl in pain.
His screams echoing through the dungeon, setting off shockwaves which travelled far and wide, yet despite his best efforts he couldn't free himself from the mortal's grip.
Rio's nails grew darker and turned into sharp claws which dug into the god's neck like pliers. And every time, the god struggled and screamed, it only became more painful.
"And because of you, she's gone now." Rio said as he took his arms and kicked the god.
Aelthar felt like a mountain hit his back, and like a ball hit hard, his figure was sent flying. Rolling across the land.
"..Again." Rio muttered as he appeared in front of the god, before he stopped and kicked him in the ribs this time.
A sickening crack split the air as bones shattered under the blunt force, pieces of divine marrow piercing through his skin in grotesque angles.
Aelthar couldn't help but spew out blood, mixed with a few pieces of white, before being sent away once more.
This time, Rio didn't chase after Aelthar, but instead of that, he raised his arm and swirled his fingers in a pulling motion. ___ and immediately, the god who had just turned around mid air and took two steps to run, felt like a chain wrapped around his feet, and pulled him back.
Aelthar felt the familiar sensation of threads wrapping around his ankles and didn't even hesitate to cut off his leg himself, before flying away in a desperate state.
He couldn't understand how the mortal in front of him had suddenly grown so powerful.
The mana state for awakeners was fixed and he could sense his rank hadn't increased, yet Aelthar could feel from the aura that Rio now and Rio before were on two completely different levels.
Which is why he didn't even dare to fight back and just chose to mutilate himself to run farther.
Yet how could freedom be so easy?
The moment Rio saw his threads pulling over a chopped up limb, he immediately disappeared from his place and appeared in front of the god.
Two feathery wings of white appeared behind his back, and in his arms he held the broken leg like a mace.
Aelthar immediately halted after seeing this and cursed while running in the opposite direction, "Damn you, mortal. Don't force me…"
Yet before his threat could finish, what greeted him was a blow to the back of his head, which broke a few pieces of his skull. Sent a shockwave through his nervous system.
The sudden concussion caused the god to lose balance and stagger, in which came another blow, this time to his spine.
Rio looked at his bloody palms which just held a small piece of Aelthar's feet remaining left and threw it aside.
"I warned you to let go of your obsessions, and leave, before our fight started…" Rio said, falling freely in front of the god, who lay like a corpse under the pits of crumbled ground. "But now…it's personal."
When Aelthar opened his eyes again, he heard Rio's voice. His slow and steady footsteps echoing in the god's ears as if death itself was walking towards it.
"I'm hurting. It's painful." Rio said as a tear slipped through his eyes, before disappearing mid air in mist as heat from the hellish flames collided with it. "And I'll make sure you feel a million times worse."
As his words finished, Rio stopped in front of the god and grabbed his chin. Raising to his level, and opening that mouth forcefully.
"Ummmm aghh mmmm Nuhh"
Under the horrified eyes of the god and his muffled screams, he threw a tiny ball of hell flames down his throat.
Rarghhhhhhhh
The god's scream filled with a wretched tone of gurgling sounds, and charred skin and smoke _ echoed through the entire land.
"No one _ no one can save you."
Rio said staring dead into the eyes of the god who was looking at the sky with hopeful eyes, hoping that some god out there would watch this terror, and come forward to rescue him from this demon.

But unknown to him, it wasn't the Nyx's formation which blocked their battleground anymore. It was a barrier raised by the system.
One which blocked any and all gods from interfering in this battle. And all they could do was just stand on the sidelines and watch from the shadows.

After Rio 'woke up' from his guilt and gathered his thoughts into fumes of anger. He stood up and directly blocked Aelthar's path, stepping between him and Katherine.
He still didn't know she was alive, he just thought the damned god wanted to suck her soul energy, just like he did for all the monsters in this dungeon.
"System, lock this place." He said in his mind. The invisible fog of Aelthar, appearing as a mere flow of light in the absolute vision of his true eyes, "If you let this bastard run away, or let some other pest power him up, I will block you for life."
[.....] The system, who was still trapped by the devil, looked into the darkness, towards the shining red pupils, before they completely disappeared from vision.
"Do whatever you want. Just don't disturb me." The devil said as he took back his powers and prepared his throne, sitting upon it calmly and watching the story unfold.
"Let me see what the loss from two lifetimes does to his mind."
"Show me your real self, Shiva. Show me - your rage." The Devil spoke, tapping his fingers on the armrest, as he watched the scenes of torture in front of him with a smirk.
