Limited Time Marriage: Nice to Meet You Mr. Foster-Chapter 38 - 37: Speak, Your Conditions
South held the discharge papers in his hand, glanced at the attending doctor, and reached out to pick up Seth before leaving the ward. The doctor felt a jolt inside when South looked at him. South’s eyes were as dark as an abyss.
That feeling was particularly noticeable when she glanced over just now.
After South left, the doctor realized that a thin layer of sweat had formed on his back. Just a youngster, really a strange feeling.
South carried Seth out of the hospital, just as they reached the lobby, they ran into Nathan Foster.
Nathan Foster glanced at Seth in South’s arms, his arm hanging against South’s side, bandaged, revealing the extent of the burn.
Feeling upset, South didn’t want to pay attention to him, but as he was about to walk past, Nathan Foster’s unique cold voice was heard.
"Is this what you call reclaiming everything by your ability?"
Upon hearing Nathan Foster’s words, South was reminded of what she said in Harold Foster’s ward yesterday. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Nathan Foster, seeing South’s tightly pursed lips, knew her stubbornness.
"Ivan, take the young master to my father’s place, and ask the director, should the Foster Family’s people be unfit to stay here?"
As Nathan Foster finished speaking, Ivan Keller came over to take Seth from South.
At that moment, South suddenly recalled Nathan Foster helping her retrieve Seth from the orphanage in the past life.
Upon careful thought, South realized that Nathan Foster only seemed to behave perversely towards her.
Even in the past life, he never troubled Seth.
South released her hold, allowing Ivan Keller to take Seth away.
After Ivan Keller left with Seth, only South and Nathan Foster were left facing each other.
"Speak, your demand." South said nonchalantly.
Nathan Foster was never one to do things without purpose, and his repeated assistance to her was certainly with an agenda.
Seeing South speak directly, Nathan Foster also didn’t beat around the bush and told her: "Give me the U-disk you swapped out; it’s of no use to you."
South raised an eyebrow subtly, thinking back to the day she deliberately left the U-disk at The Lynch Family’s place, which Nathan Foster picked up.
He might have known at the time that the U-disk had been swapped, but he waited until now to ask.
"I glanced at the U-disk randomly, couldn’t understand what it meant and threw it away. Later, after knowing your identity, fearing you’d hold me accountable, I found a similar U-disk and recorded what I remembered on it, hoping to bluff my way through."
South said half-truthfully, as Nathan Foster stared into South’s eyes.
Her eyes were calm, showing no signs of evasion or guilt.
Her expression made it seem like she wasn’t lying, yet Nathan Foster knew South wasn’t telling the truth.
Though he hadn’t looked through the U-disk’s contents, he knew it contained information about Stella Foster.
He couldn’t believe that South could act so composed upon seeing Stella Foster’s information.
The only explanation was that South was lying.
S captain had been investigating this matter for years and handed the U-disk to him before dying.
He hadn’t had a chance to look at it before losing it.
Hence, the only two people who knew the contents of the U-disk were left.
One was S captain, the other was South.
S captain had already passed away, leaving the only clue with South.
