Limitless Evolution: I'm The New Dragon God?-Chapter 48: Success?
Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Success?
Ryu couldn’t help but admire her courage. Even as her body trembled and her breath came in ragged gasps, her gaze never wavered.
She had just agreed to undergo a procedure that could very well kill her, and yet she stared into the unknown with fire in her eyes.
He let out a quiet breath.
"Crazy girl..." he muttered, but there was a faint smile on his face. The kind of smile that only appeared when someone reminded him of who he used to be.
He turned to the side and called out a bloodline Orb from the Archive. It was a spinning sphere of radiant crystal light with a soft blue-white glow.
Sacred Crystal Wyrm (C)
A bloodline he had cooked up earlier while their conversation was ongoing.
A sacred serpentine dragon with crystal-forged scales and healing properties. It had more defensive than offensive, but it possessed an innate ability to purify and repair spiritual damage.
It might just be the key.
With that thought in mind, he gently guided the orb toward Venus’s chest.
As it descended, the air grew tense. Static crackled softly around them, like lightning caught in glass. The Fusion Lab responded as if sensing something different about this one.
The orb hovered just inches above her sternum.
Venus clenched her fists, eyes shut tight.
"Do it," she whispered.
Yuki nodded.
The orb went inside.
[ Fusion Initiated...]
A flash of crystal light burst across the space. Sharp streaks of blue and white lit up the chamber, followed by a resounding chime that echoed like a temple bell striking deep into the soul.
Venus’s back arched once again as the fusion took hold.
He body slumped to the floor of the Fusion Lab, limbs trembling but intact. Her skin glistened with cold sweat, and her silver-blue veins pulsed gently with newfound mana flow. She looked fragile, like glass just forged and still cooling, but unmistakably alive.
Ryu, still in his dragon form, let out a long breath. Steam curled from his nostrils as the tension that had coiled in his chest finally began to unravel.
"It’s a success," he whispered to himself.
He could feel it clearly now. The faint yet steady currents of mana coursing through her. They were not wild or explosive, but calm and pure, flowing like water rediscovering a long-lost riverbed.
The unknown seal that had shackled her potential had finally cracked. Her body was responding. Something inside had awakened.
He took slow steps around her, studying every inch of her resting form. Her breathing, though shallow, was rhythmic. Her expression had softened. Her hands, once clenched tight from pain, now lay open and relaxed. Her hair was damp with sweat, clinging to her flushed cheeks.
No violent mutations. No rejection. Just silence and peace.
He tried scanning her status again, hoping to confirm the change, but unable to as she was not his follower or subordinate.
Nevertheless, a faint flux of light flickered beneath her skin, like tiny rivers of starlight moving beneath the surface.
"I can’t see the exact system yet. But I can feel it. She has mana now."
He lowered his glowing claw and gently tapped her forehead.
"You did well, Venus. Rest for now."
All these time, she had been told she had no future as an Evolver. She had been measured, judged, and discarded before she had even taken her first real step. Yet now, that same girl lay before him, having endured three fusions back-to-back and awakened a powerful bloodline.
It was not just impressive.
It was inspiring.
"If she can awaken like this, then how many others have been tossed aside for no reason?" Ryu muttered, his voice low and thoughtful.
He turned his gaze toward the horizon beyond the Lab. The sky above was a swirling canvas of void energy and drifting celestial fragments, casting an eerie glow that pulsed with an ancient rhythm. It was beautiful in a way only the unknown could be, yet haunting with all its unanswered questions.
"But I have no obligation to help them. I am not a saint," Ryu muttered under his breath. His voice echoed faintly in the vastness of the Lab, swallowed quickly by the silence.
With a casual flick of his claw, he gently teleported Venus back into her bed in the real world. She was still unconscious, but her breathing was calm, steady, and filled with mana-infused life. The rest would do her good.
Ryu then returned to his own room and let his human form settle back onto the bed. The sheets felt strangely softer tonight, or maybe it was just his body finally giving in to exhaustion.
There were still a few hours before morning would come.
Outside, the city remained quiet. The usual howls and distant cries were absent tonight, as if the world itself had taken a breath to pause.
In the next room, Grakar’s loud snoring echoed through the walls like a crocodile-shaped war drum. The floor even vibrated a little with each deep inhale.
Ryu cracked a tired smile and let his eyes close.
He slept like a log, without a care in the world.
For now, the night belonged to peace.

The next morning, Venus woke up feeling stiff and disoriented.
Her body ached in strange places, as if she had just run a marathon barefoot through a storm. Groaning softly, she stretched her limbs and rubbed her neck.
"What a weird dream," she muttered, blinking the sleep from her eyes. "I must be losing it... dreaming about some talking dragon calling himself Mana Daddy and offering me powers."
She scoffed and shook her head.
"Absurd. Completely absurd."
Just as she was about to throw off the blanket and get out of bed, something unexpected happened.
A glowing line of text floated into her vision, hanging there like a ghost in the air.
Her heart skipped a beat.
[ Congratulations, Evolver! You have awakened the Strongest Body System. You’re ready to step onto the path of an Evolver. ]
Her eyes widened.
"Wha—what...?"
She blinked several times, but the glowing interface didn’t disappear. Instead, more information unfolded in front of her eyes.

Her breath caught in her throat.
"So that... wasn’t a dream?"
Venus stared at the floating screen, frozen, as the realization slowly sank in.
She had awakened.
She was an Evolver now.
