Chapter 10: Chapter 10 - Miscalculation

Borami gave a small smile at Leonard’s confusion. Her honey-brown eyes glimmered under the moonlight filtering through the gaps in the roof.

"You did," she repeated softly. "I mean, your wounds healed on their own. You have the power of regeneration."

Leonard blinked. "Regeneration?"

Borami nodded. "I saw it with my own eyes. When that rabbit girl brought you here, your face was a mess." She leaned forward slightly, studying Leonard with curiosity. "But when I went to get water to clean your wounds, your lips began closing up in a short time. New teeth started growing from your gums. I saw it."

Leonard’s eyes widened.

"You’re an interesting person, you know," Borami continued. Her tone was flat, but there was a trace of admiration in it. "Usually, only Stage 3 beastkin have that kind of self-healing ability. Even then, not this fast. They need hours, even a full day, to recover from severe injuries. But you? You were done in minutes, like a Stage 4."

Leonard fell silent, processing the information.

’So that’s how it is,’ he thought.

But irritation quickly crept in.

’That damn message,’ he cursed inwardly. ’Why didn’t it tell me I had regenerative abilities? That’s important information! Would it have been so hard to mention something like that? "Oh, by the way, you have self-healing powers, so don’t be surprised if your wounds fix themselves."’

He took a deep breath, trying to calm down. But his mind kept racing.

If he had regeneration, then his body had already changed. But how much had it changed? Did the system alter his original body? Or—

The thought suddenly halted.

’Or is this even my body?’

He remembered all those cliché isekai novelkisss. The protagonist dies in the original world, then reincarnates into someone else’s body in a new world. Or their soul possesses a corpse.

Leonard bit his inner lip. He needed to know. He had to see himself. Since arriving in this world, he had never looked at his reflection. There had been no time. Everything happened so fast until he ended up here.

He had never seen his own face in this world.

"Rami," he called, unconsciously shortening her name. "Do you have a mirror?"

Borami’s eyes widened.

Her honey-brown eyes opened wide. For a few seconds, she simply stared at Leonard with an expression difficult to describe, a mix of shock, confusion, and something else. Was that sadness? Leonard wasn’t sure.

[ Borami’s Affection: 15% ]

[ Borami’s Trust: 20% ]

Leonard noticed the change and frowned.

’It went up again? Why?’

But then another realization struck him.

A mirror.

This was a primitive world. There was no way they had mirrors. They probably hadn’t even discovered the technology to make flat glass that reflected images. At best, they used still water—ponds, rivers, or rain puddles.

’Idiot,’ he cursed himself.

Borami finally spoke. Her expression returned to flat, like before—as if the shock a few seconds ago was just Leonard’s imagination.

"Mirror?" she repeated softly. "What is that?"

Leonard scratched his head. "No, it’s... forget it. I just... never mind."

Borami looked at him for a moment, then nodded.

"Then how do you feel now?" she asked, her tone returning to that of a healer examining a patient. "Does anything still hurt?"

Leonard opened his mouth to answer. "No, I’m fine—"

He stopped.

His eyes shifted to Borami. To that beautiful face. To that tempting body. To her large chest, nearly bursting out from behind her leather clothing.

He remembered something.

A novel. A smut novel he had once read in his spare time. A cheap story about a man stranded in a primitive world who discovered that the women there didn’t understand modern concepts of sex and... yeah, did inappropriate things with the primitive women. To them, sex was only for reproduction. They didn’t know about flirting, seduction, or complicated boundaries like in the modern era.

They were innocent. Naïve. And because of that, they were easy... to manipulate.

Leonard swallowed.

’Am I really going to do this?’ he thought. ’Am I going to try what was in that novel?’

His little brother below had reacted the moment he first saw Borami. And now, with the woman sitting beside him, looking at him with attentive eyes...

He was suffering. Truly suffering.

’I’m just curious,’ he whispered inwardly. ’I just want to know if it’s really like in the novel.’

Leonard made a decision.

Okay. I’ll try. If it works, maybe I can—if not, at least I’ll know.

He took a deep breath.

"Actually..." his voice came out hesitant, shy. "My lower part... feels very uncomfortable."

Borami looked at him. Her eyes narrowed slightly in curiosity. Then her gaze lowered to the lower part of Leonard’s body, which bulged slightly beneath his leather pants.

"Which part?" Borami asked innocently.

Leonard swallowed again. His heart pounded wildly. ’This is wrong. So wrong. But...’

He gestured with his chin toward his crotch.

"That part," he whispered.

Borami stared at him for a few seconds. Then, slowly, she reached for the knot of Leonard’s leather pants and untied it.

The pants were pulled down.

And Leonard’s mighty spear was revealed.

Firm. Large. Fully battle-ready.

Borami gasped. She stepped back, eyes wide. The blush that had once only colored her cheeks now spread across her entire face, down her neck, perhaps even to her ample chest.

"How can—" her voice faltered. "How can you be erect like that?"

Leonard felt his face burn. Embarrassed. Extremely embarrassed. But he had already started, so he had to finish it.

"It’s... it’s because of you," he said, his voice barely audible. "I saw you, and my body reacted like this."

Silence.

Borami simply stared at him.

Leonard wanted to disappear.

’Idiot! Moron! Why did I do this?!’ he cursed inwardly. ’I’m not some pervert! I’m not that desperate! I was just curious! Just curious! That’s all!’

He already regretted it. Deeply.

But the system screen above Borami’s head showed something shocking.

[ Borami’s Affection: 23% ]

[ Borami’s Lust: 21% ]

[ Borami’s Trust: 14% ]

[ Status: Interested ]

Leonard read it with wide eyes.

’It increased? Affection and Lust increased? But Trust dropped?’

He analyzed quickly. Affection rose by 8%, maybe because he said he was aroused by her. That meant Borami was... pleased?

Lust skyrocketed, meaning Borami was aroused seeing his body react to her.

But Trust fell by 4%. Because Leonard lied about feeling pain down there? Or because he did something inappropriate?

And the Status changed to "Interested."

’She’s interested in me. Even though her trust dropped, she’s interested.’

Leonard had just begun processing that information when—

SLAP!

Borami’s palm struck his left cheek hard. His head snapped to the side. His cheek immediately burned hot.

"You shameless man!" Borami’s voice was loud, but her tone was strange, a mixture of anger and embarrassment. "How indecent! You weirdo!"

Leonard held his reddening cheek, stunned.

"How can you get aroused by an old woman like me?!" Borami continued, her face flushed crimson from the tips of her furry ears down to her neck. "You’re not normal! I’m a cow, and you’re an ape! You should only be aroused by other female apes! Not by me!"

Leonard could only stay silent, lips tightly sealed.

That slap... woke him up.

He deserved it. He did. What he had just done was wrong.

’Idiot,’ he cursed himself. ’What were you expecting? That she’d immediately sleep with you, you pathetic virgin.’

Borami took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. Her hands trembled slightly.

"It seems your memory loss is truly severe," she said, trying to sound normal though her voice still shook. "That’s just a temporary bodily reaction. After bathing in cold water, it will return to normal."

Leonard nodded quickly.

"And listen," Borami continued, her tone firmer now, her eyes sharp. "Never do that in front of other women. Other women will be disgusted by you. And if their husbands or parents find out, you might be killed for insulting their women. Understand?"

Leonard nodded again, even faster.

Borami stared at him for a moment. Then she sighed and rubbed her forehead.

"It seems you’re completely fine now," she said. "There’s nothing you need here anymore. You can leave."

Leonard stood up. He quickly fixed his leather pants and tied them back. Without looking at Borami, he walked toward the door.

"Thank you," he said softly before stepping out. "And... I’m sorry."

Then he left.

The night air greeted him with a biting chill. Leonard inhaled deeply, trying to steady his still-racing heart. His body was still hot.

He walked away from Borami’s house, into the open area between the primitive huts. Above him, the night sky was filled with stars—more than he had ever seen in his life. In his city, light pollution had nearly erased them. Here, they scattered like jewels across black velvet.

Leonard stopped, looked up, and took a long breath.

"From now on," he whispered to himself, "I have to control myself. I need to think before I act. This is the real world. Not a game. Not a novel. If I keep behaving like that, I’ll die. Or at least be hated by everyone."

He exhaled.

’That damn smut novel. It almost got me killed.’

But on the other hand, he had learned something. The system was real. The Affection, Lust, and Trust parameters were real. And Borami’s reaction gave him clues about how the system worked.

Inside her house, Borami sat on a pile of animal hides, her face still red.

Her hand ran through her hair, trying to calm herself. But her mind kept replaying what had just happened.

’Because of you... I saw you, and my body reacted...’

Those words echoed in her head.

He had said that while looking at her. With eyes that... didn’t seem fake. And his body’s reaction... Borami hadn’t seen a man respond like that in a long time. Especially because of her.

Since her husband died on a hunt three years ago, no man had looked at her like that. They saw her as a cursed old widow.

But Leo looked at her differently. His eyes... truly admired her.

And his body reacted.

Borami placed a hand over her ample chest, feeling her still-rapid heartbeat. In her lower abdomen, there was a strange sensation she hadn’t felt in a long time. A warm feeling spreading, making her restless.

"I’m an old woman," she whispered to herself. "He must just be confused because of his memory loss. That’s all."

But why did his words feel so... nice?
