Lingering Passion: Mr. Sutton Wants to be Your Male Lead!-Chapter 169: Want Me to Carry You?
Stella Grant’s voice was quite calm, without much fluctuation, as if she hadn’t brought any personal emotion into it at all.
But Silas Sutton knew she was vindictive, remembering the times Peter Wright had tripped her up before, and now she wanted revenge.
Silas Sutton narrowed his eyes, asking playfully, "So how do you think it should be handled?"
Stella Grant said, "Is Peter Wright’s current role to spy on me?"
Silas Sutton replied, "It seems that way for now."
Stella Grant said, "Then let him continue to spy."
Silas Sutton asked with a smile, "Tell me your thoughts."
Stella Grant raised her hand to yank down the suit jacket covering her face, turned to Silas Sutton, and said, "The information he spies on is only useful if it’s real. What if it’s fake?"
If it’s fake, he will only end up shooting himself in the foot.
Silas Sutton raised a brow slightly, his long, attractive fingers tapping rhythmically on his leg, he said, "That’s why they say, better to offend a scoundrel than a woman."
Stella Grant replied without changing her expression, "He hasn’t offended me."
Silas Sutton teased, "Those two times he tripped you up previously, don’t count as offenses?"
Stella Grant asked, "How did you know?"
Silas Sutton looked at her with a meaningful smile, but didn’t answer.
Stella Grant pressed her lips together, suddenly understanding.
He knew everything about the project department.
Before Stella Grant could say anything, Silas Sutton slowly spoke, "It’s not that I want to know, it’s mainly because Forrest Keller is so gossip-loving; there’s nothing he doesn’t know about in the company."
Forrest Keller, who was driving, twitched the corner of his mouth, "..."
Silas Sutton paused, then continued, "The key is, it’s fine that he knows, but he always tells me, huh."
After finishing speaking, Silas Sutton leaned his elbow on the armrest where the teacup was placed, using his fingers to scratch his brow thoughtfully.
He seemed impatient.
Forrest Keller’s grip on the steering wheel tightened.
In just that brief moment, many words flashed through Forrest Keller’s mind.
For example, necessity knows no law, or man endures for the greater picture, or patience brings calm and a step back makes you an office elite...
As Forrest Keller’s mental activity reached its peak, he heard Silas Sutton ask in a low voice, "Isn’t that right, Forrest?"
Forrest Keller forced the corners of his mouth to twitch into a smile, "Yes, yes."
Silas Sutton chuckled softly, took Stella Grant’s fingertips with his hand and gave them a pinch, "See, Forrest Keller is such a gossip."
Stella Grant looked up at him, remained silent, then after a few seconds she withdrew her fingertips from his hand, took out her phone, and made a call.
When the call connected, Stella Grant said gently, "Assistant Wright, I’m suddenly feeling a bit unwell, I’ll transfer the money to you later, please help me settle the bill."
Peter Wright said, "Manager Grant, are you alright? Did you drink too much?"
Stella Grant replied, "I’m fine, I guess I’ve been staying up too late recently, my head hurts a bit."
Peter Wright said, "Alright, then rest early."
Stella Grant said, "Mm, help me explain to everyone."
Peter Wright agreed repeatedly, "Don’t worry, I understand."
After hanging up with Peter Wright, Stella Grant clutched her phone distractedly for a moment, then turned to Silas Sutton, "May I ask you something presumptuous, if it’s inconvenient, you don’t have to answer."
Silas Sutton already guessed what she wanted to ask.
She was a smart person, now being forced into the mess of The Sutton Family, she would surely want to clear up the issues involving The Sutton Family with him.
Faced with Stella Grant’s question, Silas Sutton didn’t respond for a long time, then after a moment, he looked at her and said, "Let’s talk at home."
Home.
Hearing those two words, Stella Grant suddenly felt a tightening in her heart.
More than an hour later, the car arrived at Bloomwood Gardens.
Forrest Keller parked the car, and Silas Sutton and Stella Grant got out one after the other.
As they walked inside, Stella Grant, in high heels, walked ahead, while Silas Sutton, with a suit jacket draped over his arm lazily followed behind.
Forrest Keller looked out from the car window, unsure if it was the darkness blinding him, or a momentary lapse of reason, suddenly feeling that the backs of the two of them looked inexplicably well-matched.
Forrest Keller was still looking, when Silas Sutton suddenly stopped and turned around.
As their eyes met, Forrest Keller shivered and froze in place.
Silas Sutton looked at him with a raised brow and uttered two words, "Get lost!"
Then he turned around, shook out the suit jacket on his arm, and draped it over Stella Grant.
Stella Grant turned her head to look at him, and Silas Sutton hooked an arm around her waist, "Are your legs weak, do you want me to carry you?"
Stella Grant stopped walking, squinted at him, "Silas Sutton."
Silas Sutton laughed softly, "Hmm?"
Stella Grant said, "Do you need to put yourself in your place?"
