Tying Up Some Small Braids (3)

He asked them a few more times, but the children only came up with nonsense answers. There were all kinds of answers, but none of them were right.

At this moment, Jiang Xiaoman who was standing near the door quietly poked her head in and timidly raised her hand. “Teacher, I know it. Can I answer?”

Teacher Tang was taken aback for a moment, then he smiled and nodded. “Xiaoman, go ahead and talk.”

“The story tells us that there is an order to everything. You can’t get fat in one feast, you need to do it one step at a time.”

“That is the correct meaning.” Teacher Tang was very pleased. After Jiang Xiaoman said that, he continued teaching, but his heart was moved and he was thinking about something else.

When the bell rang after class, Teacher Tang walked out of the classroom and saw Jiang Xiaoman squatting on the ground. She was poking at the ants on the ground with a wooden stick, and every now and then she pulled out some small grass.

He asked her, “Where is your grandma?”

“She’s in the dining hall.”

Teacher Tang nodded, then he took Jiang Xiaoman’s hand and said, “Let’s go and find your grandma.”

Jiang Xiaoman looked up at him, not sure what was going on, but she nodded obediently, “Okay.”Teacher Tang was a very gentle person who had a kind smile. Jiang Xiaoman liked him. Grandma also told her that if she had the time, she should hang around Teacher Tang more. He was an intellectual person, maybe his influence would rub off on her and she would also become an intellectual in the future.

Jiang Xiumei was surprised when they arrived at the dining hall, not sure why Teacher Tang brought Jiang Xiaoman to her.

“Xiaoman, how old are you this year?” Teacher Tang asked her.

Jiang Xiaoman silently counted her age in her heart and held out three fingers. “I’m four years old this year.”Jiang Xiumei said, “Nonsense, it’s not a full year yet.”

Teacher Tang laughed and patted Jiang Xiaoman’s head. “She’s still too young, too far from the school enrollment age.”

“Teacher Tang, this… what’s going on? Did my family’s Xiaoman cause trouble and disturbed your class?” Jiang Xiumei asked.

“I just think that Xiaoman is very smart and clever, she would be a promising student to nurture.” Teacher Tang’s face looks proud. “I asked a few questions in class today. Of everyone in the class, only Xiaoman could answer them.”

“Really?” Even Teacher Tang himself came to compliment her. Look how smart her family’s Xiaoman was!

Jiang Xiumei smiled so wide you couldn’t see her teeth anymore.

Teacher Tang hesitated a bit, then said. “I have something else I wanted to discuss with you.”
