Lord of Ascension: The Birth of Chaos-Chapter 47 Stalker
Chapter 47: Chapter 47 Stalker
"You even offered him a cup of water... You haven’t done that for me before." Scarlet huffed, crossing his arms across his chest.
Kaelith stared daggers at him before he turned to River, who stood a few feet away from them, standing close to the wall. "River... Scarlet will take you to the other servants. They will show you the quarters and teach you the rules of the palace."
"Me? Why me?" Scarlet’s eyes squinted in anger.
"I’ll see you... Later."
Saying that Kaelith walked out of the room, leaving the stunned Scarlet with the confused River.
Scarlet pinched the bridge of his nose; his eyes suddenly turned so cold, that even River felt shivers down his spine.
"Come with me." His voice was cold and sharp like a blade.
River scrambled behind him, afraid to annoy him.
Scarlet walked down the hallway with his hands tucked in his pockets. River noticed how the female servants were squealing at the sight of him.
Scarlet’s eyes fixated on the space ahead of him, and he didn’t spare a glance at the servants.
After the long walk, they arrived at the servants’ quarters, which were located in the northern wing of the palace.
"Look for the servant named Quill, he will show you everything you need to know," Scarlet said nonchalantly.
"Yes, my Prince. I appreciate your kindness for bringing..." He didn’t finish his words before Scarlet turned and left.
River was left stunned, his eyes following after his retreating frame. He nervously brought his hand up, scratching the back of his neck, and he turned around. He hesitated for a moment, before knocking on the door.
........
Scarlet walked down the hallway, his hand reaching to the pendant hanging inside his clothes. He brought it out, rubbing his fingers against it. "I’ll show you all that I’m not a weakling. Magic is not the only way to be great... and I, Scarlet Pendragon, will be the first person to prove it."
From the corner of his eyes, he saw the figure of Kaelith walking out of the palace gate. "Well. Well. Well. Where are you heading to again?" his eyes glinted. "Why not find out?" A small smirk formed on his lips.
He threw himself off the railings. He held on to the protruded block of the wall, then he let go, before gripping the nearest pole. He turned midair, swinging to the next railing. Then he pushed himself by kicking at the wall. He flew midway before landing on the ground with one of his knees and his hand dug into the ground.
His hair covered his face. He raised his head, pushing them backward, his blue cold eyes fixated on the carriage that was riding out of the gate.
He stood up, hastening his steps to the other carriage parked beside the gate. "Follow that moving carriage." He threw a gold coin to the driver.
"Yes, my Prince." The driver bowed, before pulling the reins of the horse.
"Yah!"
The carriage creaked slowly before it began to pick up speed. The carriage was luxurious, made specifically for the royals. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Scarlet followed Kaelith’s carriage to a manor on top of a hill. He stopped a few feet away from him. He peeked out of the window, watching as Kaelith stepped out of the carriage.
He hid inside the carriage when he noticed that Kaelith had turned towards him.
"Come outside now." A stern voice echoed from outside.
Scarlet closed his eyes, knowing that he was already caught. Hesitantly, he dragged himself out of the carriage.
He flashed a smile at Kaelith, the moment his eyes locked with Kaelith’s.
"Now you have the guts to stalk me?" Kaelith’s voice was dangerously low.
"Stalk you? Who? Me?" he widened his eyes innocently at him. "I didn’t stalk you... I was just enjoying the beautiful weather with you." he waved at the blue sky.
"Go back home... Now." Kaelith turned to walk away.
His jaws gritted in anger, and his fingers twitched beside him.
Scarlet’s smile faded slightly before they came back in full bloom. He ran towards Kaelith. "Brother... Let me come with you. I know you have been getting stronger every time... introduce me to your master, to train me too. Please." He tugged at his sleeve, pouting his lips at him.
Kaelith’s steps halted. "I said go back home! He swatted his hand away.
Before Scarlet could say any word, the gate to the manor opened. A girl around the age of eleven had her back to them as she slowly stepped outside, her head peeking inside, checking if anyone had seen her.
She gently locked the gate closed. She was dressed in pants and a tunic shirt. Her short wavy hair bounced with her every movement.
A smile crept on her lips, knowing that she had succeeded in her escape. She turned around, and her dark brown eyes widened like a saucepan when she saw the two boys who were watching her all this time.
One of them had raven black hair with cold sharp grey eyes. His features were sharp, his brows were thick, and his skin was smooth however his expression was too stern for a boy at his age.
But the other one was like an angel, with shoulder-length blonde hair, and one part of his face was covered with his hair. His ocean-blue eyes were the most beautiful she had seen of that shade and his expression was softer and easier to approach.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, folding her hands across her chest. Her eyes stared daggers at them.
"Why are you asking when you are a thief?" Scarlet asked, eyeing the strange boy, who looked too smooth for a boy and too rough for a girl.
"Are you talking to me?" She asked, stunned at the fact that she was called a thief.
"Do you see anyone behind you? Or are you that dumb to comprehend things?" Scarlet arched his eyebrows at her.
"This... is... how dare you?!" Her eyes burned with anger. She headed towards Scarlet, and she met his gaze.
"I dare you to repeat that." Her voice lowered, her hand clenched tightly beside her.
Meanwhile, Kaelith stood with a bored expression, he didn’t interfere with their batter. He only held his hand behind his back.
"I asked if you are dumb..." Scarlet paused, before leaning towards her. "Are you dumb?" his lips tugged up in a smirk.
Before he could pull away, his left eye saw black as her fist connected to his eye. Scarlet groaned, and his hand flew to his left eye.
"That is what you get for calling me dumb." she stomped on his foot.
"Ouch. Ouch." Scarlet raised his leg in pain. His other good eye narrowed in anger.
He raised his hand to punch her, but Kaelith suddenly held his hand back, before pushing them down.
"What?! He punched me in my face... My face!!!" he yelled, fuming in anger.
"Afraid you will turn ugly now that you have a red circle around your eyes," Kaelith said just to annoy him more.
"Let go, Kaelith."
"He’s a girl. You are going to lay a hand on a girl?" Kaelith asked with arched brows. He wouldn’t have cared about it, but he knew she was Gabriel’s daughter.
Scarlet’s eyes widened... and that fact just caused critical damage to his ego.
