Chapter 41: The Gigantic Stone Guardians in the Abandoned church.

The silence flooded the entire area, like an immaterial veil that consumed every form of sound.

A great cloud of dust had risen, covering the place and preventing visibility.

Then, among the dust cloud, two blue glows made themselves present, shining like large gems reflecting light.

The air currents then began to push the curtain of dust that had risen, revealing the entity that was now in that place.

A gigantic stone giant.

A golem, built with grayish stone with different grains.

Over its body spread rivers of blue color, which constantly pulsed light.

The golem emitted a roar, expelling air from its mouth that made the whole place tremble.

Anansi turned her gaze away, not looking at the golem, but at the outside.

"So it was a trap," the woman said to herself as she analyzed the border behind the gate.

There was no one screaming, fleeing or reacting to that stone monster.

The reason was due to the very nature of the place, that area wasn’t only protected by a barrier.

It was also discontinued from the world.

If an external observer looked at that building, they wouldn’t see what was really happening.

It was an area separated from the conventional world.

However, the woman didn’t have time to worry about getting out of there.

The golem acted quickly, the lines on its body glowed intensely as they adopted a scarlet tone.

Five gigantic fireballs were materialized around Anansi, and shot out against her.

The woman didn’t move, around her shields of solidified air formed to protect her.

The fire and air exploded, annihilating each other in an explosion.

Anansi used the fire as a smoke screen to run out to one side, pointing at the gigantic golem’s shoulder with two fingers.

"Cut," the woman ordered.

The air came to life obeying her will, the spirits compressed into a vibrant blade of air that was expelled at great speed against the golem.

The air acted like a saw trying to penetrate the thick rock armor of the rock giant.

She could use air to attack, since the giant hadn’t adapted to that element.

However, the blade could barely scratch the golem’s armor before dissolving.

Even if it hadn’t adapted, its resistance was incredible.

The golem reacted quickly, turning toward Anansi as the lines on its body turned light blue.

From its mouth came a breath of frost, a mist that moved across the ground trying to trap her.

"Columns," the witch requested as columns of rock began to emerge from the ground, each one larger than the last.

The woman jumped from column to column, using them as stairs to avoid being trapped by the frost.

Anansi didn’t hesitate to counterattack, she threw her staff with force, making it stick near the earth giant’s feet.

"Swamp," she ordered.

The earth obeyed, and while the golem had adapted to water, it didn’t mean it could float.

The earth absorbed the water the staff was expelling, becoming mud.

The golem began to sink under its own weight, trying to move clumsily without success.

"Pierce!" the witch demanded.

Unfortunately, she could only have access to wind spirits in the area that made up the barrier before, since the connection from outside had been cut.

However, the air began to spin at an unimaginable speed, forming an air drill that fell directly on the rock giant, crushing it inward.

The golem acted quickly, the lines on its body turned golden, and from its feet it began to expel light.

The earth dried in an instant, becoming fragile, while the rock giant pulled its feet out, breaking the dried mud.

At the same time, the lines on its hands turned electric blue, and its fingers pointed at Anansi.

From it came powerful lightning bolts, but the girl didn’t flinch.

From her pocket a doll peeked out with a straw hat, and blue clothing.

The doll quickly pulled out a small machete, still peeking out of the witch’s pocket.

The lightning was attracted by the machete and absorbed.

"Thank you, Azaka," the witch commented, with her typical inexpressive tone.

The Lwa of lightning, Azaka Tonnerre, simply nodded as he returned to the witch’s pocket.

"I suppose it’s time to take more drastic measures," the lilac-haired witch then declared. "Damballa, devour."

After that announcement, the woman pointed at the golem with her arm, and under her sleeve a serpent hissed, which crawled outward, lunging at great speed toward it.

The white-scaled serpent grew, and its enormous head bit hard on the rock giant’s head.

The golem grabbed the serpent’s body, trying to strangle it, however its strength didn’t seem to be enough to harm the Lwa.

The witch didn’t move, as the serpent came out completely from under her sleeve, to finally coil around the stone giant.

"I suppose compared to that time, this won’t be a challenge for you, right Damballa?" the woman said, expressionless as the serpent squeezed the giant’s body hard.

The stone began to crack, little by little, until it broke into pieces.

The serpent didn’t hesitate, advancing quickly and swallowing the Golem’s head and core rapidly.

They had won.

"I’m sorry for having to make you fight today, Damballa, thank you for everything," the woman said, as the serpent shook its head.

Damballa, one of Anansi’s most powerful Lwa, in its true form has the shape of a white serpent.

While Anansi didn’t like making the Lwa fight, Damballa felt very proud to fight for her.

Then, the serpent’s pupils dilated, and it accelerated at great speed toward Anansi, who was surprised seeing that.

"What?" she wondered, then she saw it.

Five spears made of golden and silver mosaics pierced through Damballa, without her being able to react.

"Surprising, I didn’t think it could react in time, a shame, I lost the element of surprise," a voice then said.

Anansi turned abruptly to see who was speaking. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

And there he was, an old man with graying hair, dressed in a white robe with golden embroidery.

The one Anansi was looking for had arrived.
