Chapter 100: Chapter 101: You Go, I’m Not at Ease

On the way back, mother and son sat in separate cars.

Brandan knew his mother was angry, but he was powerless and didn’t know how to comfort her.

He actually couldn’t understand why Lady Hyde was so angry. He felt that anyone in his position would have made the same choice as him...

Brandan felt a bit bewildered.

Upon returning home, four large boxes were already placed in the living room. A bank employee came over to tell him that all the money had been withdrawn and placed in the boxes.

Brandan walked over and glanced at the few black leather boxes. This was the money for redeeming Iris Harris tomorrow.

"Alright."

Brandan nodded, "I understand."

As he spoke, he waved his hand, instructing the servants to take the money away.

Outside the door, Lady Hyde was helped inside by the servants. Her makeup was all ruined, and her eyes were swollen and red. Even as she came in, her eyes were filled with tears, indicating that she had probably cried all the way here.

Brandan watched his mother being helped upstairs, pursed his lips in frustration, thinking, she’s not beyond saving, why cry so much?

Brandan felt a trace of resentment in his heart.

He sat on the sofa, leaning his back against the soft upholstery, and closed his eyes slightly, trying to calm himself down.

In his mind, the image of Iris Harris’s departing figure flashed unexpectedly.

She was slowly taken away by those two bodyguards, her back straight with a hint of determination.

The scene suddenly shifted to Iris Harris with a gun pressed against her forehead—"Bang!"

Her body slowly fell down, but her eyes were looking in his direction, those eyes that had always watched him, reflecting his cold expression.

"You really do hate me, Brandan."

Brandan abruptly opened his eyes, taking a deep breath, his face covered in cold sweat.

He didn’t know when he fell asleep and had such a terrifying dream.

He wiped his face, his heart still pounding, and the image of Iris Harris lying in a pool of blood seemed to still flash before his eyes.

Brandan took a deep breath, trying to calm down, but he just couldn’t settle his mind.

The scenes in the dream played in his mind like an endless movie, repetitively flashing back.

He knew it was absurd, those people couldn’t possibly kill her; it’s just things imagined during the day carried into the night...

Brandan took a deep breath. Feeling restless, he noticed the setting sun outside the window, and it was getting late.

He stood up from the sofa, paced a few times, gradually calming his frantically beating heart.

He felt his rationality slowly returning, not so panicked anymore. It’s okay, he told himself, those people only want money, they wouldn’t harm her.

When she returns, he would make it up to her, treat her well... Even if, even if she wanted to have that child, he could allow her to have it.

Brandan stood at the door, gazing into the distance, his thoughts finally calmed down.

The night passed quickly.

When Brandan came down from upstairs, he saw Lady Hyde sitting on the sofa, her complexion still weary, seemingly having stayed up all night.

"Mom," Brandan paused, "why are you here?"

"I’m going with you." Lady Hyde said softly, "I’ll go with you to rescue her."

Brandan’s brow furrowed slightly, "Mom..."

"I won’t be at ease if you go alone." Lady Hyde lowered her eyes, "I want to see Iris return safely with my own eyes."

Her tone was gentle, yet tinged with a hint of sorrow.
