Chapter 108: Chapter 109 Iris Is Now One of Our Own at Hyde Residence [Extra Update]

The way back was much easier than the way there.

Lady Hyde walked alongside Brandan, frequently glancing at the figure of Iris Harris, then at the bloodstains on her skirt, seeming deeply pensive.

Brandan remained silent throughout, lost in his thoughts, his gaze fixed heavily on the backs of Iris and William Moore.

By the time they made it back, it was already around seven or eight in the evening. An ambulance was already parked at the mountain’s exit. Iris watched the nurses approach and smiled, declining, "I’m fine. Xavier, I want to sleep."

William looked at her. She appeared calm, not at all like someone who had just narrowly escaped kidnappers. He wanted nothing more than to ask what had really happened, why she was there, and how she had managed to escape.

But he knew now wasn’t the right time and had to hold himself back.

William sighed, "Iris, are you really not hurt?"

Iris shook her head, "They didn’t hurt me."

William nodded, waving the nurses away.

He touched her face, took her hand, and said, "Then let’s go back."

"Iris!"

Lady Hyde’s voice called from not far away.

She had a coat draped over her shoulders, her face haggard, with red-rimmed eyes fixed on Iris.

Seeing Lady Hyde, Iris called out, "Auntie."

"Come with me." Lady Hyde took Iris’s hand. Her eyes were red as she pleaded, "Alright?"

"..."

Off to the side, William furrowed his brow slightly. He didn’t want Iris to have any connection with the Hyde Residence right now.

"Master Moore, no matter what, Iris is now a part of the Hyde family." Lady Hyde looked at William, "I..."

"Heh." William, who hadn’t spoken, let out a cold chuckle at Lady Hyde’s words, "A part of the Hyde family?"

Lady Hyde seemed on the verge of tears, gripping Iris’s hand tightly with teary eyes.

Iris looked at Lady Hyde for a long while before gently sighing and turning to William, "Xavier, I’ll go back with Auntie."

William seemed dissatisfied, frowning as he glanced off into the distance before pulling his gaze back coldly, "Will it be safe?"

Iris smiled, "It will be. Auntie has always been good to me."

William looked at her with a complex expression; he really didn’t want her to go back, but he didn’t want to force her.

He nodded slightly, stepped back a bit, and, with some hesitation, said, "Remember to call me from now on."

Iris nodded gently, watching as William turned and walked away.

She withdrew her gaze and said to Lady Hyde, "Auntie, let’s go back."

Lady Hyde wiped her tears and nodded, "Let’s go, we’re going home."

Iris turned around. By a car not far away stood a tall figure. She glanced at it briefly, then calmly looked away as if she hadn’t seen it.

Sitting in the car with Lady Hyde, Iris turned her head, watching as the terrifying forest outside the car window slowly receded. Then she looked down at her own hands,

Lady Hyde sat beside her. Her mind was burning with urgent questions about where those kidnappers had gone, how Iris managed to escape, if she was truly unharmed, and what the blood was about.

But Iris’s expression was so calm, excessively calm, that Lady Hyde didn’t dare to ask a single question.
