Chapter 107: Chapter 108: Iris, are your legs injured?

His heart, however, felt as if it were soaked in cold water, even his fingertips were icy.

He broke his promise; he said he would bring her back today, but he didn’t.

If she died, what was she feeling before she died?

She wasn’t supposed to suffer any of this.

It was him, indifferent, watching her being taken away by kidnappers. He should have saved her, after all, none of this originally had anything to do with her.

Yet she has to die because of him.

Brandan Hyde slightly bowed his head, feeling the pain of his heart in confusion. It really hurt, and he realized that heartache truly exists in this world.

If she died, it must have been his fault.

He killed the person who loved him most in this world.

After a brief rest, the group once again prepared to set off.

Brandan’s expression had completely calmed down. His young, handsome face held a pair of eyes dark and dim, like they were soaked in water.

This version of him looked somewhat lifeless, making it unclear what was on his mind.

"There’s something moving up ahead!"

The bodyguard scouting ahead suddenly shouted and stopped in his tracks.

The group behind him halted instantly. Brandan looked up and indeed heard rustling from the jungle in front of them.

In the primeval forest, anything could be lurking. On their journey so far, they had killed more than a dozen snakes, and they had heard that there were wolves on this mountain...

But why would wolves appear during the day?

As Brandan was thinking about it, a staggering figure stumbled out from the bushes. That person had disheveled hair, and the originally pure white dress was now stained and tattered, no longer recognizable. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Brandan was stunned, almost unable to react, but Lady Hyde, standing beside him, screamed: "Iris!"

That person seemed to hear her voice and paused. She lifted her head and looked forward, showing a moment of daze on her dusty, haggard face.

"Iris!"

William Moore rushed over, his voice filled with joy upon seeing Iris Harris.

Iris looked at him, then glanced over to Lady Hyde, and staggered forward, colliding into William’s embrace.

Brandan watched this scene, and he was taken aback, a trace of confusion appearing on his face.

William firmly embraced her. He only felt that Iris was so very cold, yet his heart, originally filled with despair, was completely relieved by her presence.

It was her; she’s still alive...

For the first time, he wanted to thank the heavens — she was alive!

William hugged her for a long time before he slowly released her, stepping back slightly to scrutinize her. Iris’s face was extremely pale, but there were no obvious external wounds, only some scratches from branches on her cheeks.

His gaze lowered, and when he saw the hem of her skirt, his eyes widened.

Iris’s skirt was covered in blood.

The stains were masked by dust, filthy and indistinct, but he was not mistaken, it was all blood!

"Iris, is your leg injured?"

William immediately wanted to check, but Iris stopped him.

"I’m fine." Iris smiled slightly. "Xavier, let’s go back."

Her face was so pale, and her smile appeared remarkably illusory at this moment.

William wondered how she could still manage to smile.

His heart ached beyond measure. He took off his jacket, draped it over Iris’s frail shoulders, held her securely, and responded with a soft, "Let’s go."
