Chapter 146: Chapter 147: We Go to the Hospital

Iris Harris blinked slightly, bent down to pour a glass of water from the coffee table, took a sip, and then gently smiled: "Auntie, why would you ask that?"

"Brandan said..." Lady Hyde shook her head, "Just be honest with me, you’re not sick, are you?"

"No." Iris maintained a calm smile, the steam from the tea mingling in her eyes, making her smile seem somewhat indifferent, "I’m fine, Auntie."

What’s the point of telling others? Besides unnecessary pity, it only adds to their sadness.

She slowly finished a cup of hot water, feeling as if her stomach had warmed up as well. Iris leaned back on the sofa, looking at the sunset outside the door, her expression very serene.

Brandan Hyde might know something, might have discovered something, but Iris didn’t care.

He didn’t come to ask her, only occasionally looking at her with eyes that seemed to be probing.

Yet, all of this was bearable, Iris did not find it unbearable.

Perhaps from that day when he accidentally pushed her down the stairs, this man truly felt a tinge of guilt towards her. Recently, he hadn’t bothered her, sometimes it was clear he wanted to say something to her but held back. The days passed by in such a peaceful and undisturbed manner.

This might be the most comfortable period before her imminent death after all.

That’s what Iris thought.

There were many benefits to living at the Hyde Residence. Lady Hyde was very kind to her, making dishes that suited her taste. Although she did not have many hobbies, she was very particular about food. The ingredients sent to the Hyde Residence were top-notch, naturally making every dish exquisite and delicious.

In her lifetime, she hadn’t had many such idle days. She had always been studying when she was young, and after graduation, she quickly began working for the Harris Clan to help her family. Sometimes she was so busy that she couldn’t even eat. Now, stealing half a day’s leisure was truly not bad.

This day, Iris came downstairs as usual, later than both Brandan and Lady Hyde. When she entered the dining room, they had already eaten halfway.

Seeing her come down, Lady Hyde gestured for her to sit beside her.

"Iris, today it’s red dates and white fungus soup, eat it while it’s hot."

Iris thanked her and sat by Lady Hyde’s side.

It was very quiet while eating. Iris sipped slowly, the soup was aromatic and sweet, a flavor she liked. Recently, she realized that she actually liked sweets.

Unfortunately, she hadn’t eaten them for long.

Iris thought absentmindedly until she heard Lady Hyde’s somewhat alarmed voice: "Iris?!"

Iris was momentarily stunned, lifted her eyes, and when she saw the red liquid continuously dripping into her bowl, she understood immediately.

The blood was like broken pearls, rolling one after another from her nostrils, slowly diffusing into the white fungus soup.

Iris raised her hand, instinctively covering her nose, thinking, how terrible it was for the illness to flare up at this moment... 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

The dining room fell into extreme silence. Brandan, who was eating across from her, also looked up, staring at her with emotions in his dark eyes that she couldn’t comprehend.

Iris slightly lowered her head, feeling nothing but regret and helplessness. She hadn’t wanted Lady Hyde to find out so soon.

She didn’t want her to be too saddened over her.

The blood wouldn’t stop, oozing through her fingers. Iris felt a bit dizzy and sensed a hand gently holding hers. Whether it was an illusion or not, the hand seemed to tremble slightly.

She slightly lifted her head and saw Brandan’s face.

"Let’s go to the hospital."
