Love You Till the End-Chapter 980 - 979: The Man Without a Sense of Humor
"When will they start?" she asked.
Ye Han lifted his arm and glanced at the watch on his wrist: "Exactly twenty minutes to go."
Shi Aoju was a bit surprised when he first saw Su Jiuyi standing by the window with another man. She had told him before that she never had friends growing up, and Qi Jingren had only established a friendship with her for half a year.
Yet here she was, chatting and laughing with the man beside her, as if they had known each other for a long time.
As he conversed with others, he casually observed them, then saw them leave the window and head outside.
"Young Master Jue, what are your thoughts on the development project in the west of the city?" The tall beauty beside him took a sip of red wine elegantly, glancing at Shi Aoju with a hint of flirtation in her eyes.
Watching Su Jiuyi’s departing figure, Shi Aoju placed his wine glass on the table and said slowly, "You can discuss the concept with my assistant, excuse me."
After finishing his simple statement, he walked away with long strides, completely ignoring the beauty’s attempts to keep him.
By this time, many guests who knew about the fireworks display were arriving at the building, including some photographers with cameras who rushed to get a good angle for taking pictures. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
After all, this event was hosted by the Aotian Group, so the fireworks display was bound to be spectacular.
Seeing the elevator was overcrowded, Ye Han shrugged and pointed to the stairs next to him for Su Jiuyi: "Waiting for the elevator is pointless, climbing the stairs should get us there just in time."
Su Jiuyi wasn’t a spoiled rich girl; she often cleaned the entire staircase at the Shi Family’s house. Climbing stairs was no challenge for her.
Quite a few people chose to take the stairs as well, turning the usually quiet corridors into a bustling hive. Some noble ladies who had never climbed stairs before kept complaining, making the corridor noisy.
"What if there are no fireworks when we get up there?" Su Jiuyi joked.
Ye Han had a wry sense of humor: "Then we should jump off the rooftop together, preferably loaded with explosives for a self-detonation, turning ourselves into beautiful pyrotechnics for the guests to enjoy."
Su Jiuyi adjusted her long gown, unable to hold back a chuckle at his words, "I always thought you seemed like a gentle and elegant gentleman during interviews. Who knew you had such a playful side?"
"Only being a gentleman would make people think I’m just all about appearances," Ye Han laughed, "Besides, who doesn’t have a sense of humor?"
Hearing this, the image of Shi Aoju immediately popped into her mind.
Actually, Shi Aoju wasn’t devoid of humor; he just had more of a scheming side. Though not expressionless, he was quite the iceberg, not usually insulting others, but inexplicably wanting to bully her whenever he saw her.
Thinking of Shi Aoju made Su Jiuyi feel a bit downcast, and then she struggled with self-reflection, knowing she shouldn’t always be reminded of that man.
Noticing her silence again, Ye Han asked, somewhat puzzled, "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing." She lifted her gown a bit higher, thinking of switching to another topic, "Will you be taking over your family business in the future or continue traveling the world?"
She genuinely wanted to know the answer to this question.
