Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 576: The Sound Of Tree Branches
William returned Irene to her room. In front of the door, he then stopped frantically. He did not realize that he had pulled the princess’s head. William immediately let go of his hand and touched Irene’s shoulder.
"Princess, Arielle... is not in pain. Maybe..."
Shit! William had a hard time making up a story he could give to a small child. Perhaps if it was Lazarus or Kael, both of them would immediately understand what was going on in the room, but Irene... William closed his eyes in deep thought. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Ah! Princess Arielle is probably very busy taking care of the dragon eggs that she brought with her," he said quickly.
Irene thought for a moment then nodded in understanding. Yes, she knew Arielle’s task was quite difficult and maybe that was also what made the princess sick. Irene immediately lowered her head, feeling confused because she was also afraid to go into her own room right now. She was afraid of the strange sound on the window in her room.
"Princess, why do you want to find Princess Arielle? Do I have to call a maid? I can also summon Aimee or Tania if you want."
Irene turned towards the door to her room that was closed tightly. Aimee and Tania weren’t very strong against the werewolf clan.
"Sir, can you check my room? I think there is a strange sound from outside the window," said Irene while pointing to her room.
"Strange sound? What kind of sound?"
"Um... like someone knocking on my window."
William instantly stood on alert. He pulled Irene to stand behind him, and his other hand rested on the hilt of his sword in case something dangerous disturbed Irene.
William opened the door to Irene’s room, and it was much darker than in the hallway. He saw that the fire in the fireplace had completely died out, so that the room was a little cold. Irene grabbed William’s shirt from behind and followed him so he wouldn’t be kidnapped by the werewolf clan from behind.
William paused to check the condition of the room, but it was quiet. He couldn’t sense any other living beings there. Only silence and the sound of the blizzard outside the room could be heard. William took Irene’s hand to walk with him towards the fireplace. He quickly lit the fire so that the room looked brighter than before.
William turned to check the room again, but there was no one there other than him and Irene.
TUK TUK TUK!
Irene and William turned towards the window.
"Princess, wait here," William said, telling Irene to rest by the fireplace to warm her body because she had been sitting outside the room for too long in her thin nightgown.
William opened the window curtains and found nothing there.
TUK TUK TUK!
He glanced at the side and saw a dry tree branch without leaves knocking into Irene’s bedroom window due to the wind. William then broke the small branch and threw it away so that no part of the tree hit the princess’ bedroom window again.
He wiped his hands and closed the window tightly again so no cold wind could enter.
"There isn’t anything. Only the sound of a tree branch hitting the window. It’s safe," William said, after closing the curtains again.
The man was now standing near Irene while smiling reassuringly.
"So? Is there anything else I can help you with, Princess?"
Irene glanced at the window then shook her head.
"Then, I’ll excuse myself, Princess. I still have to do some more work."
Irene nodded without saying thank you. William came out of Irene’s room. However, when he wanted to leave the princess’s room, William felt a little reluctant. The little girl didn’t seem to be able to calm down completely. Perhaps it was still difficult to adapt in the palace without her father.
Really, if Irene was Sasha, maybe William would take her out for a drink. Of course, he would give her warm milk, but Irene was Ronan’s sister. Considering how possessive the man was, William didn’t want to get into trouble. He looked back to see Irene who was sitting alone by the fireplace. The girl might still feel cold from being outside for so long.
William had to call Aimee or Tania. Perhaps Aimee was the best choice. Tania was very old, and staying up late at night would affect her health later. He then called the guard guarding at the end of the hall to stand by the door of Irene’s room while he went to look for Aimee.
William went downstairs and knocked on Aimee’s room several times. He looked at the clock in his pocket watch and made sure it wasn’t too late. However, it was also likely that Aimee was already asleep.
"Aimee... are you asleep?" William asked, knocking on Aimee’s door once again.
William was about to give up and leave the place, but Aimee opened the door from the inside. Her hair, which was always in a bun, left loose hanging on her back. She had long hair.
"Huah... is there... something wrong?" she asked, while holding up her nightgown robe.
"Are you asleep already? I’m a little worried about Princess Irene."
Aimee came out then closed the door to her room.
"Princess Irene? What’s wrong with Princess Irene?"
"It looks like she’s still having a hard time sleeping alone. Earlier, she said she wanted to find Arielle, but you know... if it’s a night like this, someone is locking her in the room and won’t let her out until tomorrow morning."
"Ah... then, I will visit Princess Aimee’s room after this."
"Thank you. I have to go back too."
Aimee looked at William from head to toe. The man didn’t wear his coat nor his shoes on a very cold night like this. "What are you doing here without thick clothes and shoes?"
"Oh, I lent it to Princess Irene. She didn’t want to go back into her room earlier," William explained, then left Aimee’s room after waving his hand. He was already cold to death. While running a little, he finally returned to his own room to warm his body.
