Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 753: Arielle And Ronan On The Journey
"This blizzard seems to be last long," said Arielle while looking outside where half of the mouth of the cave was covered with snow.
"No, it will stop in a few hours. But this is enough to delay our journey."
"You know how to read the weather?" Arielle asked confusedly because Ronan had predicted the oncoming blizzard from the start.
"I think every animal has a way of knowing when a storm is coming as a form of self-protection mechanism. Ever since I was a child, I have always had the gut feeling about the weather."
"Wow... does that only apply to the weather in Northendell?" asked Arielle curiously.
"Nope, when I was ten years old and visited Wolgast, the sky and sun were very clear and bright. Yet, I said that it would rain soon, and in less than an hour, it actually started to rain. Then, a few minutes later, I said it would rain for three days straight and what I said came true."
"Is it true?? It’s my first time hearing this. You’re like a clan of unicorns who can read the future," Arielle replied, making Ronan laugh.
After a few hours that the two of them rested in the cave, the blizzard died down. Arielle used her powers to warm their horses as well as to melt the snow at the mouth of the cave. Ronan helped her by clearing the snow on the other side so they could walk out of the forest to the nearest town.
As a result of the storm, it looked like they wouldn’t be able to reach the next town until the next day.
"There will be no settlements around here, so most likely we will ride all night," said Ronan and Arielle nodded as she was ready to face this challenge.
"Fine, but don’t force yourself. I don’t want you to get sick. If you’re tired, tell me right away so I can find another place for us to rest. You got that?"
"Yeah, I totally understand," Arielle replied, making Ronan smile at his wife’s enthusiasm.
This was Arielle’s first experience of riding. Thus, she really felt excited. Right now, Arielle got braver to increase the speed of her horse so they could arrive faster.
Just like Ronan had said, they didn’t find any settlements and ended up having to rest under the trees while eating the cold food they bought in the previous town. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Of course, Arielle felt tired. Her back hurt, but she still helped Ronan to warm his body with her power.
"Let’s rest here for an hour and then go again. This is the place farthest from the forest. You can sleep. I’ll be on guard."
The cold weather didn’t bother Arielle or Ronan. Arielle easily ignited the dry wood that Ronan had collected from around the area. After that, she invited the man to warm their bodies by the bonfire. Ronan took out some sweet potatoes from his horse’s pouch.
The three sweet potatoes were stabbed using a piece of wood and then burned over the bonfire. Ronan’s sword never left his hand as he stayed alert. Arielle came closer and sat while leaning on the side of her husband’s body, waiting for the sweet potatoes that Ronan prepared to be cooked.
It was very quiet outside at night. Only the crackling of the fire from the bonfire could be heard, as well as the scraping of the tree branches blown by the wind.
Ronan took one of the cooked sweet potatoes and split it with his bare hands. The man didn’t complain at all even though the sweet potato was very hot.
"Be careful, it’s still very hot," he said as he gave the sweet potato that had been split to his wife.
"Hahaha, heat or flame would never be a problem for me, Ronan," Arielle replied. She chuckled lightly because her husband had forgotten that neither heat nor flame could ever hurt her.
Ronan just laughed along and took another sweet potato for him. Seeing Ronan blowing the hot sweet potato, Arielle absorbed some of the heat from it so the man could eat them while they were still warm. Ronan thanked his wife for the help.
The two filled their stomachs in silence.
"Arielle, if someone passes by here, they won’t believe that we are the king and queen, right?" Ronan asked.
Arielle just laughed. "Yes. Who will believe it?" she replied with a smile.
Ronan watched Arielle’s face, which looked dull from peeling the sweet potato. The area around her mouth looked dirty by the black ash. He reached out his hand to wipe off the dust.
The man was surprised because he forgot that his hands were even dirtier because he directly touched the sweet potato skin that was burned, so Arielle’s face looked even dirtier. The black stains around the girl’s lips make her look like an old man with a mustache and beard.
Ronan couldn’t stop himself from laughing.
"Why? Is there something funny?" asked Arielle with her innocent expression, as she was still not aware of the pitiful condition of her face.
"Ah... I’m such a bad husband," Ronan muttered, feeling guilty and amused at the same time.
He rubbed Arielle’s face with his clean robe. Now the girl was back to looking like her usual self again.
"Nothing. You’re just too adorable. Do you like the sweet potato?" Ronan asked.
Arielle nodded. "I like it. It tastes really sweet even though it’s only being grilled."
After eating the sweet potatoes, Arielle and Ronan rested a bit longer than Ronan had planned. Ronan didn’t want to force his wife to move quickly like he usually did when he was with his knights.
This was Arielle’s first long journey on a horse. Of course, the girl would feel exhausted. Even though she kept saying she was fine, as someone who always paid attention to every detail of his wife’s expression, Ronan could see when Arielle was getting tired or uncomfortable with her horse.
"I think I can continue our journey," said Arielle after feeling her body had gotten better.
