Chapter 759: The Potraits

"Your Majesty, are you ready to visit the cathedral?" Lucas asked.

Arielle stood up and folded the letter. Aimee helped Arielle keep the letter and necklace with a vial properly.

"I will take them to the king after I’m done at the cathedral."

"I understand, Your Majesty. I’ll keep it well," Aimee replied.

Arielle then followed Lucas to visit the cathedral.

Priest Elis had been waiting, and Lucas asked her permission to leave before returning to the palace. Arielle and Priest Elis then visited the main hall of the cathedral where every seat was filled with priests and also some apprentices. Priest Jill nudged his glasses and told everyone there to get up to greet the queen, who also came to evaluate their abilities.

Arielle knew some of them. Like Namina who had now started to control flow mana one level higher than before. Together with the senior priests, Arielle examined how far the apprentice priests had learned to control their powers.

Each level consisted of a different age range. Unlike the class system in the academy, the classes in the cathedral were determined by the level of mastery of their respective powers.

Some had managed to get their flow of mana out. Some still had trouble forming the trigrams circling around their hands. There were also those who were still learning the basic part about practical knowledge.

Some of the youths who Arielle saved from the tragedy in Birwick Village were still in elementary school, and she gave them encouragement because their goal of joining the cathedral was to help their village.

After they graduated, they wanted to be assigned to Birwick Village as priests who helped their village.

Evaluating apprentice priests took a long time. Arielle just rested after receiving a report about some damage to the cathedral’s facilities due to several apprentice priests having difficulty controlling their powers. Then, Arielle also took notes on consequential things that she had to do first. She would talk to the royal treasury regarding additional funds for the cathedral.

Priest Elis escorted Arielle back to the Blackthorn Palace. The news that Arielle had met someone this afternoon already reached Ronan’s ears.

"I heard you had a guest this afternoon. Who is it?" asked Ronan as he smoothed his wife’s coat.

"A courier from the port city. There, I met an old man selling painting supplies. I visited his shop, and he asked my permission to look me in the eye for three seconds. The courier sent something from that old man. And Ronan..."

"Yeah?"

"Come with me. I want to show you something," said Arielle, who then pulled her husband to go to the Whitethorn Palace.

Arielle took Ronan to her personal library. Aimee had placed the two paintings that the courier had brought to be placed on the couch in the library. So was the envelope containing the letter, as well as the necklace with a vial.

Arielle took the brown envelope and gave it to her husband. Ronan fell silent for a moment, looking at the two paintings he had never seen before. The two paintings seemed to emit a different aura, but they had exactly the same facial features.

The portrait of the brown-haired boy looked like a normal teenager, in simple clothes with a shabby white shirt and brown vest whose colors were starting to fade. Meanwhile, the portrait of the teenage girl beside it looked breathtakingly beautiful.

Ronan seemed to see a second Arielle. The color of the eyes was bright blue. The nose and lips were small but proportional. Added with her sparkling white hair and thin eyebrows, all of them shouted Arielle’s traits.

Ronan squinted to read the writing on each end of the painting.

"Eden... Queen of Birwick. Sun Goddess. Guardian of Birwick. Who are those two, Arielle?" he asked confusedly.

Arielle then handed over the brown envelope in her hand.

"Read this first. I also have the same question."

Ronan accepted the envelope and took out the letter. He read every word carefully. As the sentence went on, the frown on his forehead deepened until finally he saw the sender of the letter.

"Didn’t you say that the Unicorn clan could see the future?" Ronan asked Arielle for affirmation.

"Yes, that’s correct. It turns out that the man who owns the painting shop is one of the Unicorn clan members. Perhaps this letter is a clue to our future," replied Arielle.

Ronan frowned. His wife’s answer only made him have more questions. More or less, the questions he had were the same as the questions that had been bothering Arielle.

"Who are those two?"

Ronan had a possible idea for the portrait of the teenage girl. However, the portrait of a random teenage boy who had a face similar to the previous portrait was the biggest mystery.

"What if I send someone to meet that man again? We need a clear answer," Ronan voiced out his thoughts.

Arielle shook her head. It was impossible to do it. She then took out the rest of the contents of the envelope and handed them to Ronan. There was an additional small piece of paper written by the old man and a necklace. The old man said that he had left his home and asked Arielle to give the necklace to her first daughter.

"First daughter..." muttered Ronan while glancing at Arielle as well as the painting of Queen Birwick in front of him.

The young girl was exquisite. If it was true... That Queen Birwick’s portrait was their daughter... It seemed Ronan didn’t have to hold back anymore? However, every time he looked at the portrait of the teenage girl, his eyes were always drawn to see the portrait of the teenage boy next to it.

"And what’s in the necklace?" Ronan asked as he opened the contents of the small vial on the necklace.

"Elixir of immortality," Arielle replied simply.

The vial may only contain two or three drops of the Elixir of immortality. However, it was enough to save people’s lives three times if used sparingly. Just like the old man said, Arielle had to keep it and give it to their first daughter.

"We better put it in a safe place. We’ll take it back if needed. Along with these two portraits. Don’t let things like this make the focus on our current life waver."
