Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 786: Sibling Confrontation
Arielle lowered her hand, holding Alexis’ hand gently.
"If you sincerely apologize, then I will forgive you. And we can start all over again."
"Arielle... this is too easy... I-I do apologize to you, but don’t forgive me so easily like this. I would feel even more guilty."
Arielle smiled faintly. "If you feel guilty, you must promise me not to make the same mistake as in the past. I’m not a difficult person, Brother. I don’t want to hold a grudge. Even though we have different mothers, siblings are still siblings."
Alexis fell back on his knees, breaking down as pangs of guilt blasted his heart. He knew his sister was a good girl. However, he didn’t deserve her kindness. Alexis silently sobbed when Arielle hugged him. He cried on the girl’s shoulder until he was satisfied.
Ronan stood with his arm crossed in the doorway. William glanced at his friend. The man’s patience seemed to be running out. Like a wet sheet of paper, it could be torn at any time. Ronan’s feet, which had been moving restlessly, made William look even more intimidating.
Actually, Ronan felt curious about what Arielle and Alexis were talking about inside. All he could hear was Alexis crying. Ronan hoped that the crying was because Arielle was slowly burning the man with her flame.
He still could not forgive what Alexis did to his wife. Even Archie hadn’t received his forgiveness. Ronan just tolerated the man because Arielle asked him to forgive Archie. If Archie made another mistake, Ronan would not hesitate to kill all the royal descendants of Nieverdell.
So did with Alexis. It was still vivid in Ronan’s memory when Alexis opposed his marriage to Arielle. Even the man wanted to marry off Arielle to one of the dukes in Nieverdell. Ronan would never forgive the person who nearly harmed his wife.
Arielle’s bedroom door suddenly opened. The girl came out and closed the door again, making Ronan unable to see Alexis who was inside.
"Um... William, can you make some warm tea for me?" asked Arielle.
William used this opportunity to escape from Ronan who had been emitting a dangerous aura.
"I’ll bring it right away."
"Thank you."
Arielle waited for William to leave, then approached her husband who had been waiting patiently.
"Um... Ronan, sorry. I still need some more time with Alexis. Can you wait a little longer?"
"Why are you taking so long? What are you talking about? I hope you eventually kill him."
Arielle just held back her laughter and patted her husband’s chest briefly. Ronan wanted to swear. Was his wife hiding something from him? He then pinned Arielle against the door.
"I don’t like secrets, Arielle. And that bastard’s existence only makes me uncomfortable."
Arielle stroked Ronan’s cheek. "You don’t need to worry. Brother Alexis won’t harm me again."
"How do you know? He could have stabbed you in the back. Then, allow me to cut off his other arm so he can’t hurt you."`
"Ronan. Brother Alexis and I are talking right now. I promise I won’t stop you from doing anything if he dares to threaten or hurt me. But right now, I need you to be patient."
Ronan clicked his tongue in annoyance. Meeting Alexis made him remember what the man had done to Arielle. The girl’s other siblings were just as awful as Alexis. Ronan hugged Arielle tightly and buried his face in the crook of her neck. He wasn’t satisfied with hugging Arielle earlier, yet he had to wait patiently again.
"You’re too good for those bad guys."
"If everyone is bad, who can share the good things? This world would be full of misery if everyone were evil."
Ronan couldn’t argue with Arielle. Someone then cleared their throat. William had returned with a hot pot of tea. Arielle asked Ronan to let go of his embrace so she could bring the tea into the room. Ronan hugged Arielle longer and then let go of his wife unwillingly.
Even though Arielle had told Ronan to rest, the man still stood on guard in front of her room. He didn’t want any guards from Thebis to purposely pass through the special passageway to Arielle’s room.
Inside the room, Alexis waited patiently. The man had stopped crying. The wound on his cheek began to swell, and his eyes were puffy from crying too long.
Arielle put the cup in front of Alexis, then poured the hot tea made by William into it. She also poured another cup for herself.
"Brother, have a drink. It will help you calm yourself," said Arielle, pushing the cup of tea she had prepared for her brother.
"Ah, th-thank you," Alexis replied nervously. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Arielle felt sad seeing her brother slouching like someone who lacked courage. Whereas in the past, she was the one who often stuttered when talking to Alexis. Their positions, however, were reversed now.
"Brother Alexis... How did you get to this place? And where have you been living all this time?" asked Arielle who wanted to know about her brother’s life after being declared dead.
Alexis fiddled with the handle of the cup in his hands. The man wasn’t sure if he should tell Arielle everything or not. He drank the warm liquid and found the courage to speak again.
"That night, I was alone with Archie. And I lost the fight. Archie managed to cut my left hand, and I fell into the river," Alexis said while holding his severed left hand.
"My body was carried away by the river and found by an old woman in a village near the border between Nieverdell and Wolgast. That grandmother took care of me until I regained consciousness. It took me time to process everything. I then reflected on everything that had happened and realized that it was the result of my greed and selfishness."
"I tried to forget my name and who I really was. I helped the grandmother as well as her granddaughter to work on their strawberry fields. Until news of Archie’s appointment as king to replace father reached the village. In the parade, I also saw you. I traveled far just to see you. And you looked so happy. That was when I decided never to show my face to both of you again."
Alexis didn’t want Arielle or Archie to be tormented again just because he was still alive. Thus, from that, he took the name Simon. The name was given by Peach, the granddaughter of the grandmother who saved him at that time.
