Chapter 48: Kriss & Sharma

Two figures walked down a side walk in the dark of the night, the area they were in was an abandoned factory area that had been cleared out sometimes in the past due to some gas leak.

Behind the factory grounds was a circus that had been affected, leading to it being abandoned for several months and eventually degrading. The government unfortunately did not have time to rebuild the area with the costs that went to maintaining superhumans in the city.

So the area was designated the title the black spot.

The two figures happened to be two of the awakened superhumans who had been hired by Mr Neuman to protect Melissa and neutralise Hinata.

One of them was a tall dark woman with a curvy figure and wearing a simple green shirt and dark pants. She had her lips painted white and her hair braided, "So, we find this Asian bitch and put her ass in the dirt the 800,000 credits is all ours."

The second figure she walked with was a man wit shaggy dark hair and an unkept look on his entire person. "Simple as can be."

She looked at him and smiled. "You know Kriss, what makes you think the bitch is here."

"Listen up Sharma darling, let’s not call our ticket out of poverty such ugly names." The man said as they walked through the crooked gates of the abandoned grounds and came to a stop. "My ability is a rather peculiar one, after we left that old man’s place I went back to get a piece of her clothes so I could track her."

Sharma looked at the huge mess before her and let her eyes settle on it for a bit before she made a look of disgust. The scene before her was that of a huge building that was once an industrial complex, only that it had lost all colour. There were weathered cracks on many parts of the wall giving the illusion that it might fall at any moment, shockingly this seemed true in a way.

There were also tall grass overgrown everywhere and brown moss growing on the walls like nature was trying to claim the lands itself. The windows were cracked and dirty.

Sharma shrieked. "This is not an ideal place for a young lady."

Kriss glanced over at her and scowled, "Of course it’s not, it’s a unique perspective venture that will make us rich. So shut yer trap and let’s do our damn job."

She rolled her eyes at him and rubbed her arms to shake off the irritation. "Fine, babe. You don’t have to be such a meanie about it."

Kriss started to walk forward, his feet crunching kn pieces of decayed plastic. "I wonder. Should we split up?"

Her eyes flashed his uncontrollable discomfort. "Kriss!"

He looked over at her and smiled slightly, "Of course I wouldn’t, I know you all too well."

"Are you sure she’s inside?" Sharma asked once more.

Kriss nodded and said. "With the amount of money riding on it, I would have to be brain dead to make a mistake."

They walked towards the building Kriss leading the way, since it was already dark and growing darker they were forced to navigate very carefully. The only light they had guiding them was the bits of moonlight that somehow reached into the building.

Inside the complex there broken slabs of rock, a stream of melted walls and ground almost like something molten had streamed down. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Seconds grew colder and colder, soon turning into minutes. Kriss continued to lead the way like a human compass and Sharma following like a paranoid child.

After half an hour they finally reached a part of the complex that had scratches on it.

"We’re close." Kriss said as he opened his hand and summoned a glaive before waking into one of the complex rooms.

The room was mostly bathed in dark except for the one window which was smashed open. There were thick weaves of cobwebs everywhere and more noticeable what looked like a human limb that had been drained of blood.

Kriss show Sharma a glance signalling her to keep her guard up. Kriss caught movement from the corner of his eyes in the darkness, it was two pairs of red light almost looking like eyes.

The world grew so silent that it was easy to hear the sound of one breathing from several meters away. And then like someone had turned the world on reverse, they could hear the sound of something dripping like water nearby.

Kriss continued to walk in that direction, his glaive at the ready, Sharma trembling right behind him. Krish finally stepped on something liquid he looked down expecting to see blood or a chemical substance but it was neither. Looking at it carefully he recognised the uncharacteristically familiar look of slobber.

He looked up to see a humanoid figure sticking to the roof only to drop down on him and throw a claw at his face. It all happened to fast that he could not react in time.

Sharma stretched out her palms at a remarkable speed and sent a ball of fire impacting the humanoid figure and sending it flying into a wall several meters away.

"It almost got you." She cried.

He responded in a cold voice, "That’s why I came with you babe."

A horse cackle erupted from the depths of the darkness at two blood red eyes flashed in them. "You smell different, tastier. Why is that?"

Before they could blink the humanoid figure dashed forward evading the glaive of Kriss and digging it’s claws into his waist and ripping out chunks of flesh. Kriss’ pained shriek filled the empty industrial complex as Sharma shot another ball of flame at the creature at point blank range.

The ball of fire blew apart a huge portion of the floor while barely missing Kriss.

"I think I got it babe." She said in relief.

A split second later a voice spoke. "Think again babe." However before she could react this time, the monster slashed her on the throat causing the red fluid of life to gurgle as it gushed out uncontrollably.

Seeing this Kriss screamed and swung his blade at the monster only to cut thin air. "Damnit it, Sharma don’t die on me. You’re an awakened—"

Before he could finish however a hand came from behind and sliced the back of his legs causing him to groaned and fall to his knees.

He felt five long sharp nails dig into his neck slightly, almost breaking the skin.

"You even taste better." The voice said.

Kriss gulped down as he watched Sharma’s body bleed out in a pool of her own making. "Hinata, you don’t have to do this."

She leaned in closer to his ear and bit into it with so much force that she ripped it out and spat it to the ground. This sent an unexplainable world of pain throbbing through him.

She smiled deeper showing sharp rows of teeth as she ripped out his second ear and let it fall to the ground. "Can you hear how silly you sound now." She said in a hollow tone before slashing his neck open and watching the red fluid of life gurgle out of it.

She watched him till he dropped to the ground and died. She then shrieked and laughed in exhilaration, "Now that was a tasty meal Hinata wasn’t it? Next I’ll eat you— no, our sister."
