Lunar Awakening-Chapter 47: Kevin.
When Leo received a message from Kevin asking for where he would be picked from he was sceptical, he did not expect it to be so sudden.
He did not want to give the location of the abandoned club and jeopardise the entire operation or worse lose Mr Neuman’s trust. He decided to choose the street right next to it and wait. He considered going home and sending that address but he did not want his location known to some stranger, especially not when they were defenseless.
There was a bench with a shade above it so he could simply sit there and wait.
He had a lot on his plate now, like researching more about monsters and how they behaved. And more importantly, how powerful were they? As much as he was enticed by the prospect of making money, he would be more relieved if he was alive to spend it in the end.
Strangely enough Leo felt more comfortable and at home now more than ever, after returning from Hellscape he had been feeling like something was missing within him. It was not till receiving this job that that all changed, he wondered if he missed the thrill running down his spine whenever he was faced with an opponent that was a threat to his life.
Did other awakened feel this or was he the only one?
Was it even normal to feel excited and seeking life threatening dangers?
He decided to go through his information and abilites to pass the time and hopefully discover something he did not understand previously.
Name: Leonardo.
Title: Awakened.
Pack: —.
Lunar Core: Awakened.
Soul Fragments: 37/500.
He stared at the number of soul fragments with cold indifference, he still wondered why the number was so high. Was his different from the others?
Stats—
Strength: 8
Agility: 10
Endurance: 8
Vitality: 10
Aura: 1 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Lunar Points: 4
He had thought about increasing one of his abilities by an absurd amount but after his experience with the stats box he had come to understand one thing.
Increasing his stats did not make him better at fighting, it simply increased his maximum efficiency when he pushed himself to the brink.
Another thing he noticed was that his strength had increased by one point without him having to add any points to it. He thought hard and long before coming to the conclusion that his hard workout that morning had somehow increased his maximum efficiency output in the area of strength.
If his theory was true, then that meant the only difference between training his brains out and using the stat points to enhance his power was simply that one was more based on hardwork and the other was more magical.
But in the end it was all physical effort.
Leo had an idea about what all his abilities did except for aura. And what was aura really?
"Xavax?" He called out to his unruly companion certain he might have an answer.
There was silence for several long seconds with no reply.
Then he asked again, "What do you know about aura?" He has no idea if he was listening in or not but he hoped he was.
Just when he was about giving up he got a response.
"Little rat, you amuse me yet again. To think you are not so simple after all."
Leo rolled his eyes in discomfort. "Tell me what it is dammit."
"And why would I do that?"
Leo wished he could punch him somehow, "Why? You’re staying in my body without paying rent dammit."
Xavax chuckled in a dark voice that made all of his skin to crawl in an ugly way. "Let me give you one advice little rat, keep your little talent a secret for your safety."
Without saying a word more Xavax seemed to recede back into the deepest recess of his mind and go I to a slumber.
"Curses, damn bastard." He hissed.
Now he wished he had asked Roxy more about it.
His thoughts strayed to the young woman who was only a bit older than him, there was something that seemed pleasant as well as off about her. Like a mixed bag of trouble.
Leo watched a beautiful black hovercar land right before him, it was smooth and sparkling— looking almost like it had just been bought. The mirror of the car dropped to reveal a really cool looking man with gelled back great hair a well trimmed moustache, dark sunglasses and a fine black suit.
Leo had never seen anyone that old look so amazing.
The man looked over at him and asked. "Excuse me, might you be young master Hall?"
Leo nodded slowly.
His mind still struggling to catch up for some reason, ’Young master? What’s all this nonsense? Seriously who is this Kevin guy?’
The man bowed his head and gestured to the car, "Apologies for the delay, my name is Gerald your chauffeur for the evening. Master Lord awaits your arrival."
Leo walked over to the car before coming to a halt before it, he chuckled nervously. "Um, it’s been a while since I used these things. How do I get in again?"
Gerald gasped in shock that faded just as quickly as it had appeared, he stepped out of the driver’s seat and walked up to Leo and leaned opening the door with practiced grace.
Leo rolled his eyes.
’Somebody kill me now.’
"How peculiar, let’s keep the man slave." Xavax’s cut through his concentration.
’Now this maniac can talk.’
Leo walked into the car not wanting to draw any more unwanted attention from the public. The inside of the car was cold almost like he was stepping into a frozen tundra. The foam on the seat felt like sinking into a marshemello.
"Young master Hall, would you like me to adjust the temperature or offer you anything?" Gerald asked right before starting up the car.
Leo was taken back, he had never expected for someone to show him such levels of respect. It made him more anxious as he was terrified to meet this "Kevin".
"Gerald, what can you tell me about— Kevin?" Leo could not help but ask.
The butler started the ride and the car flew off several feet before flying in the safe space restricted for flying cars, instead of stopping her it went several meters higher a privilege only those of power had. A few seconds later the car was zooming off to God-knows-where.
"Why tell you young master when I can show you." Gerald said in a neutral tone. "I have to say, this is the first time the master had ever invited a friend over."
"Friend?" Leo rolled his eyes.
He wondered what classified someone as a friend, he had zero knowledge about this man and he was calling him his friend.
’What a lunatic.’ Leo thought as he looked out the window thinking of an escape route if things turned south. ’Curses! That is one terrible drop, I doubt I would survive that.’
With nothing left to do, Leo leaned back in his seat and waited patiently to meet this "Kevin guy". All he could do was hope that he remembered him, he would hate to think what would happen if he did not.
