Lunar Awakening-Chapter 71: A Plan That Had Already Been Set In Motion.

The blade was a few centimetres from cutting off her head when Roxy stopped and screamed, she felt a sharp sting in her head. Unlike before this was far heavier, she staggered backwards. She could feel a hand reaching into her head.

"How could she just lose like that?" Avan Lahor, the fifth arm of the abyssal octet, hissed in disgust as he clapped his hands together, causing a huge wave of pale blue energy construct to spread out from him and impact everyone still living in the mansion.

Roxy felt a warm liquid escaping through her nose, eyes and ears. Her brain started to swell in her head, causing it to hurt. She tried to stand and face the man but her senses were turned upside down. She instead dropped to her knees and clutched her head, screaming.

Guetta was also under the same predicament.

Behind the huge armoured door, the bloody bride winced in pain over the slight headache she had just received. She looked down past the bloody bodies littering the floors to see Mr Neuman still paralysed on the floor next to the chief bodyguard, Melissa was still lying on the ground weeping.

Hinata was still a beaten-up pulp with many claw cuts on her face reaching down to the bone, her face was almost unrecognisable and barely healing.

"That bastard really had to go all out? If I hadn’t reinforced the door to block out his powers, he would have killed the monster." She spoke coldly as she cocked her gun and started to approach Melissa.

Mr Neuman barked in rage. "You won’t get away with this the moment the other awakened—"

"So pathetic." She cut him off. "Why do you think they haven’t come? Once Avan goes for the kill no one can stop him. By the way, I also reinforced the door from this side. Makes it hard to hear what’s happening on the other side."

Mr Neuman’s face went pale with fear. "Who are you? Please let us go and we will disappear, fake our deaths or do whatever. I swear I can pay triple of whatever you were given."

The bloody bride stopped in her tracks and glanced down at him with a scowl on her face. "I hate your kind, thinking money solves all problems. Months ago we found reports of a monster running rampant, who would have known it was of your making. After deducing the monster’s target I enlisted as a maid for little Melissa, just when we were close enough you hired a bunch of insignificant superhumans—further jeopardising our plan."

She paused, making sure her former employer was in the deepest of pain before continuing. "Yesterday was the closest we got to her but two of yours got there first and lost their lives as a result. That led me to deduce the plan to have a murder committed at the club using those two as corpses and giving you the idea to come here, to a location where the monster was already familiar with. And now that we have her I’m a bit disappointed."

Mr Neuman fought against his paralysis, the veins on his neck bulging on the verge of exploding. "Don’t talk about my daughter like she’s—"

"A monster? That is what she is." She cut him off once more. "Your inability to accept the consequences of your own actions will be your undoing, pathetic human."

Mr Neuman felt more strength be drained from his body as he sighed heavily and spoke, "Why are you telling me this?"

The bloody bride stared at him unblinking for several seconds before saying, "Isn’t it obvious, I want to make you suffer in all the worst ways possible."

The chief bodyguard grunted, "You’re a monster."

She replied without looking in his direction, "We are all monsters in our own rights, just some of us don’t sugarcoat our monsters as heroes." She paused for a bit before saying, "Besides I wasn’t the one to hire a real monster, was I?"

Hinata groaned in pain as she tried to reach out to Hinata who was in the middle of the room, the bloody bride turned her attention to the duo. She cocked the gun and aimed it this time at the little girl.

This caused Mr Neuman to scream in rage, "What are you doing?"

The nanny’s cold eyes remained the same, cold and lifeless. "I came here for a monster ready to take the final step to embrace her true self and instead I got this... I wonder what would happen if I killed her for you. Would you thank me or rip me apart."

Hinata looked at the bloody bride and growled, "Death..." Her voice was hoarse and lifeless.

The bloody bride hesitated for a moment before speaking. "There’s a meaning behind those words I believe. However, say goodbye to your sister."

Mr Neuman screamed at the top of his voice, Hinata snarled, the bodyguard bucked but there was no one left to help them. They had become pawns in someone else’s big plan and that had become their undoing.

"Madelyn please, I don’t want to die!" Hinata screamed at the top of her voice as she looked at the woman she had thought had been her loving nanny, what she saw now was a lifeless automaton killer.

In that moment the sound of a bullet leaving its barrel resonated through the room, but no one could have been prepared for what would happen next.

A few minutes earlier when the pale blue construct of energy had exited Avan Lahor, mentally attacking every living person left on the mansion grounds. The construct passed through the dead body of Leo and for a second his brain sparked to life, but a second was all he needed.

The body that had been broken with the skull split open remained unmoving for several seconds. The brain wriggled before black spirals started to grow and stretch from it, it slowly crawled on the floor till it reattached to the head. Black tattoos started to grow in spirals over the body of the awakened superhuman.

A few seconds passed before the soft sound of rhythmic thumping came from his chest, and then the fingers of the awakened twitched. All of the wounds on his body slowly started to close up, his eyes flashed open to reveal huge blood-coloured eyes.

"That little rat got us killed!" The voice sounded angered beyond compare. "Someone is going to die today."
