Chapter 110: Chapter 110

Arthur was leaning on the car, staring emptily at the rows of cars parked in the basement parking lot.

Usually, he would spend his time waiting in the office’s canteen to have lunch, play games on his phone, or simply do a little exercise to ensure that his body was in tip-top condition to protect his Madam at all times.

Arthur played with an antique match in his hand after burning a cigarette. The smoke coming from his mouth and nose hovered above him.

He rarely smoked at work, mostly because smoking calms your nerves, and he couldn’t afford to relax when his beloved Madam might be in danger anytime.

Madam Winter was like pure snow for Arthur. She was beautiful, and soft, yet cold at the same time.

Madam could be cunning, but she mostly showed her compassion around Arthur.

She had always been fragile, and he was scared that she might get hurt whenever he wasn’t around. That’s why he got so worried when Winter seemed to be so trusting towards this bastard who only married her because of money.

’My Madam’s heart is so fragile too. I don’t know how to save her when she gets heartbroken...’ Arthur closed his eyes as he let out the smoke from the corner of his lips. ’If only she understands how much I love her. Will things be different if I confess? Will she accept me and divorce that bastard out of her life?’

Arthur liked to imagine the possibility.

However, he wasn’t a delusional idiot who’d think that his Madam would marry him.

He knew that Winter would not settle for less. She wanted someone who could maintain the company, someone her caliber that would be able to support her in the office.

And Arthur was not that guy.

He was more of a brawn-over-brain type of guy. It was the reason why he joined the military and aced in combat. He was good at using his body but had shortcomings when it came to using his brain for difficult stuff.

Thus, he had vowed to forever protect the beauty who had occupied his heart from the first day they met. The woman who would forever be an unreachable moon for him.

Arthur peered at the sight of a woman who entered the basement parking lot of the office. She wore a red dress and seemingly tried to emulate the way Madam Winter walked as if she was floating.

But this woman was so crass that Arthur felt it was grating for his ears whenever she took a step.

It didn’t sound elegant at all. Unlike his beautiful Madam.

He could finally recognize the woman once she was close enough.

It was none other than Camilla Saenz, that bastard’s mother.

He hadn’t had any conversation with this woman, but he already knew from one look that she was just as vicious as her son.

’Or perhaps, Sebastian inherits his vicious and fake nature from this woman,’ Arthur guessed.

Camilla stopped and stood in front of Arthur and smiled, "Are you Arthur, Winter’s bodyguard?"

Arthur dropped his cigarette and stepped on it. He nodded but said nothing as he watched her gestures.

"Do you know who I am?" Camilla asked.

"Camilla Saenz. Sebastian Saenz’s mother," Arthur said without any sign of fear, nor resentment. He didn’t want to be hostile toward someone he hadn’t known well enough.

He had to see what this woman would do next before making a fair judgment.

"What do you want from me, Ma’am?" Arthur asked.

"Nothing much. I’m just wondering what is your relationship with my daughter-in-law. I heard from my son that you are not doing a good job at being Winter’s driver and bodyguard. I also heard from my daughter-in-law that she wants to replace you."

’Yeah, that’s bullshit,’ Arthur concluded instantly. He might’ve believed her first sentence about Sebastian not liking him because the dislike was mutual on his part as well.

But he did not believe that his beloved Madam would replace him. Even today, when Sebastian wanted to fire him, it was Winter who defended Arthur and went as far as reprimanding Sebastian for insulting him.

’Does she want to use me against my Madam?’ Arthur guessed.

He decided to play along for now. "Is that so? Madam Winter hasn’t dismissed me yet, so I’ll wait for that."

"Tell me, are you sad that you’re about to get dismissed?" Camilla asked calmly. "Truly, I pity you. You’ve been dedicating your life to Winter for so long, yet this is the reward you get."

"If Madam Winter doesn’t find me useful anymore, then I will gladly resign," Arthur said, but that was just a farce. He would never resign.

If Winter wanted to kick him out, he’d drop to his knees and begged to be kept around. He didn’t even need the salary as he already had another way to earn money.

He was just here because he wanted to protect his beloved Madam.

Camilla’s smile cracked a little. She didn’t expect this man to be so calm even in the face of getting fired by the woman he was loyal to.

’Is he even loyal to her? Shouldn’t he make a bigger reaction after I said that?’ Camilla questioned. But she had no way to know unless she pried further.

"You seem to be so dedicated to Winter even after Aiden’s death. Why don’t you tell me what you want? Do you want her?" Camilla asked.

Arthur was hiding his scowl.

He was too smart not to realize what this woman wanted to do.

She wanted Arthur to betray Winter, or at least collaborate with her so they could work together to achieve what they wanted.

Funnily enough, this wasn’t the first time someone had offered similar things to him.

Madam Winter had always been the beauty that smitten many men in the past. Some of them approached Arthur because he was her bodyguard.

They offered money or a position in exchange for driving Winter somewhere secluded, so they could fuck her.

Normally, Arthur would punch their faces and beat them up until they shriveled on the ground, but he couldn’t do so with this woman, since she was Winter’s mother-in-law.

He had to tread this problem carefully.
