Chapter 128: Chapter 128

Camilla had to admit that Winter was pretty clever as it was obvious that she couldn’t do anything against it.

Thus, she ditched her perfunctory smile and sneered, "I see that you think you’ve outsmarted me by telling them to escape New York as soon as possible."

"Not only escape, I give each of them at least twenty to fifty grand just so they could start anew somewhere. They have no reason to return to New York, and you know it," Winter said. "That’s why I’m being fair since they still technically owe their debt, so I’m paying you back their main debts, but not the stupid interest you have."

"Do you not understand that you have been trying to go against me right now? I can just tell Sebastian to drop you and the divorce will be quick," Camilla threatened, and Winter couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

"Oh, spare me, what should I do if that man divorces me? I will be so~ heartbroken," Winter said sarcastically. "If he wants a divorce, then so be it. But I doubt he would want one. He’s been working tirelessly in the office to handle big projects, do you think he will leave just like that?"

"He can take half of your inheritance after divorce. I’m sure you don’t want that, right?" Camilla continued threatening Winter, but she realized the threat was not effective at all, because Camilla couldn’t see any trace of fear in her eyes.

Winter’s gaze turned colder for each second passed until she said, "Do you want me to call him now? Let’s see if he wants to divorce me or not."

"Wait, we don’t need to—"

Winter ignored Camilla and fished her phone out. She called Sebastian’s number and put it on speaker so Camilla could hear him.

"Yes, Winter?" Sebastian asked. He wanted to call her ’love’ or ’sweetheart’ but he knew it would only make her angry. "Do you need something?"

"Do you think a divorce is possible right here, right now?" Winter asked.

"No!" Sebastian practically yelled his answer as he got anxious. "I-I haven’t done much for you. Please give me time, I will—"

"That’s all the answer I need. Bye."

Beep.

Camilla was shocked listening to the phone call just now. She didn’t expect her son, whom she had raised to only obey her, would suddenly beg a weak woman like Winter.

"None of your threats work for me, especially not my sister, since she’s under house arrest now," Winter said. "Oh wait, of course you know. You spent the whole night in the police station, right?"

"H-how do you know?"

"Because I’m the one telling all those media moguls to boost up an article," Winter said. She was lying, of course, since it was all Sebastian’s doing. But she couldn’t let him get exposed right now.

On top of that, instilling fear in Camilla’s heart would benefit her in the long term, because Camilla wouldn’t dare to mess with her.

"Let’s get this over with, shall we? I’ve asked them all and calculated the amount they owe. So I come here with a cheque," Winter said as she took out a cheque from her bag and slid it on the table. "This should be more than enough to pay off for everything."

Camilla stared at the number and gulped once she realized that Winter was right. It was exactly the amount of main debt they allowed to her.

"I think we’re done here, right?" Winter said as she got up. "Don’t try to disturb my life or my company anymore, Camilla. You have done more than enough damage to me."

Camilla gritted her teeth as she hated how this bitch acted so high and mighty as if she was the one who owned all that wealth.

"You’re so arrogant for a woman who got her money from inheritance. Don’t you know that everyone detests a greedy gold digger like you?"

"And if I get a divorce with Sebastian, doesn’t that make you even more detestable than I am?" Winter challenged. "You will take money from a greedy gold digger like me. I find that quite ridiculous."

Winter turned around and walked away, but before she left, she pointed at Arthur who had been standing next to the door the whole time and looked at Camilla, "And don’t think about trying to entice my bodyguard to help you. He is far more honest than you think."

Arthur grinned proudly and followed Winter from behind, leaving Camilla fuming with the realization that she had been bested by Winter in every way.

All of her plans went awry and the frustration built up since yesterday almost made her head explode!

She grabbed the cheque on the table, intending to rip it to vent her frustration. But when she remembered the amount of money she could cash out with it, she decided to hold herself.

Camilla didn’t know how Winter suddenly got this burst of wrath in her, but it was as if Winter flipped a switch overnight, and became ten times more ruthless than before.

"I can’t let her run around creating havoc. I need Sebastian to find a way to make her stay in place," Camilla muttered. "And what’s with him begging not to get a divorce? I know I told him to act like he’s in love, but he is overdoing it!"

Camilla knew that her son was very dedicated to her. After all, he had no other woman in his life, because she would always beat him up if he dared to date.

Even with Winter, if it wasn’t for her telling him to get married to Winter, he would never do it.

Thus, she decided to call Sebastian immediately, and unlike Winter’s call just now, Sebastian ignored her until two missed calls when he finally picked it up on the third.

"What is it, Mom?" Sebastian asked lazily.

"Why are you ignoring your mother’s call, you useless bastard!" Camilla yelled as she had nowhere to vent her growing frustration. "Winter called you just now, and you accepted the call so quickly, but not your mother?!"

"Winter is with you?! Where are you now? What happened to her?!" Sebastian asked in a panic. He had been worried about his wife because Winter suddenly asked for a divorce, but now his worry turned into panic mode because he thought Winter wasn’t safe right now.

"No need to act like you care anymore. She’s already out of my office," Camilla said. "It seems that Winter has been going against me the whole time. She uprooted all of my people inside the Goldmine Realty and even caused me to have to stay the night in the police department."

Sebastian was silent as he listened to his mother’s complaint, but the more she complained, the angrier he got.

He had been working tirelessly as a CEO to make sure Goldmine Realty succeeded and also working behind the scenes to continue collecting all the evidence of bribery, corruption, and collusion with the police department.

He wanted to get it over with as soon as possible, which should happen in the next month since his mother had to pay another monthly bribe to the police department to secure her position. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"Then, what should I do, Mom?" Sebastian asked to feign his obedience.

"I want you to be more stern to her. Make sure she knows her place, so she won’t dare to attack me like this. She’s not even the one who should have all that wealth, it should be us!"

"And why should it be us? We’re just an outsider."

"We’re not an outsider! We are..." Camilla found it increasingly difficult to talk with Sebastian. He had been disobedient ever since he married Winter, and she knew that woman was the bad influence he had.

So, Camilla decided to make sure that Sebastian knew his roots, so he would focus on his mission to take everything from Winter since it was his birthright.

"Sebastian, let’s have dinner together in my house. Today."

"Your house? You mean, the house that Winter bought?"

Camilla rolled her eyes, "Just come to the house for dinner. I have something very important to talk with you about."

"I’m busy handling a big project, Mom."

"Sebastian! This is serious!" Camilla raised her voice. "I want to tell you about your origin, and your birthright. Didn’t you tell me back then that you wanted to know the identity of your father?"

"My father?" That sentence was enough to pique his interest instantly. He had been wondering about his origin since he was a kid, but his mother always slapped him if he ever asked about his biological father.

"Yes, I will tell you everything, including your father’s true identity. But I can’t do it on the phone. So come to the house for dinner, and you will finally know why I told you to marry Winter."

Sebastian was pondering about it for a few seconds, but the idea of knowing his father’s identity was enough to make him ditch everything.

"Alright, I will go."
