Chapter 129: Chapter 129

"Alright, I will go."

"Good, I will see you tonight in the mansion. Prepare yourself, because the truth will be difficult to swallow. But it will all make sense," Camilla said before she hung up.

Sebastian spent the whole day in the office alone. For some reason, Winter didn’t come to the office today, so his head was occupied with work and also about his father’s true identity.

Ever since he was a baby, he had never seen any father figure in his life. It was always only him and his grandmother until she passed away when he was six, and he had to move out from Spain to the United States.

Sometimes, Sebastian asked his mother about his father, but she would always beat him if he ever asked.

And as he grew up, he had become jaded and never questioned his dad’s real identity anymore. In his mind, his father was probably some random gigolo that his mother spent the night in a club with, knowing how unrestrained his mom was.

But he doubted that his mother would sound so serious, even going as far as telling Sebastian to come for dinner so she could reveal his identity.

’I don’t understand why she needs to tell me about my father now. But I hope this is not one of her tricks.’

**

Sebastian finished the work earlier than usual and drove through the busy streets to leave the downtown. He drove for at least an hour until he came to a gated community where his mother was living right now.

As the automated gate was opened, Sebastian drove through a big yard full of flowers while staring at the beautiful mansion that Winter bought for him.

He actually never wanted any of this, but at that time, he was still too scared of his mother, and Winter was more than willing to buy this mansion for us, with the intention of them living together here.

Winter said that she wanted a fresh start, so she could move on from grieving over Aiden’s death.

But this mansion was left untouched after their wedding and was given to Camilla instead.

Sebastian clenched the steering wheel. He knew that he screwed up badly because no man in their right mind would listen to his mother more than his wife, especially when his wife had been nothing but kind to him.

’You’re an idiot, Sebastian.’

That sentence kept on lingering in his head as he parked his car and entered the mansion. He saw that his mother was sitting on the sofa near the window and smiled when looking at him.

"I’ve prepared dinner for us. Let’s go and have dinner."

"I’m not hungry, Mom. I just want to know who my father is," Sebastian said.

Camilla’s smile dissipated slowly, and she said, "I was trying to be nice to you since you’re my son. But it seems your wife has poisoned you for far too long. Fine, if that’s what you want, then sit there and let me bring you the proof about your father."

Sebastian sat on the sofa, waiting for his mother to come out and bring the supposed proof.

Camilla came out of her room carrying a medium-sized wooden box. She put it on the table in front of him and said, "See it for yourself. I will tell you once you can identify who your father is."

Sebastian picked up the box and put it on his lap. He stared at it for a while and quickly identified by the carving that the wooden box had been in his mother’s room ever since he was a child.

It had always been there, and he was never allowed to open it.

Sebastian took a deep breath and then opened the box.

...

...

He saw a lot of old pictures, possibly from the 90s of his beautiful mother with an unknown man. He was well-dressed, and was older than her, probably by fifteen to twenty years of age.

So, he assumed that his mother must’ve been an affair partner to this man, especially when he noticed the wedding ring on his hand.

However, the moment he flipped one picture, he read a piece of information that shattered him completely.

To my sweet sugar, Camilla Saenz.

Love, Rafael Kirk.

"Rafael Kirk..." Sebastian lifted his head, staring at his mother with both confusion and disbelief. "This man is..."

Camilla clenched her fist and looked away, "Rafael Kirk, the founder of Goldmine Realty, Aiden Kirk’s father, and... Winter’s father-in-law before his death."

He tried to swallow this bitter truth and asked "Does that mean Aiden Kirk is my half-brother?"

"Yes," Camilla confirmed. "Back then, I was Rafael Kirk’s mistress. I lived a comfortable life and he even promised to divorce her wife to marry me."

Sebastian paled instantly. He stared at his biological father in the photo, and sadly, there was no resemblance between them. He was practically 100% moulded by his mother’s genes, that’s why when he had no similarity with his half-brother as well.

"Soon, I got pregnant and asked him to take responsibility. But he suddenly backed off on his promise. He didn’t want to divorce his wife, and he simply blocked me out of his life," Camilla added. "Once I gave birth to you, I cannot look at you as my son, so I sent you to live with your grandmother in Spain until her death."

Camilla might be a cruel woman, but the bitterness she wore on her face was real. She was really angry whenever she recalled her past with Rafael Kirk, knowing that she had thrown her entire life for a coward who left her.

"Now you know why I want you to take all of Winter’s assets. After Aiden’s death, you are supposed to be the one who has the right to everything. But Aiden seems to have been well-prepared, and there is no way to find a loophole," Camilla said. "That’s why I told you to marry Winter, so we can have the money that we deserve from your dad, Sebastian Saenz—or should I say, Sebastian Kirk."

Sebastian was listening the whole time. He was silent, so Camilla thought that her son finally understood about their lifetime mission.

"Sebastian, I know it’s difficult for you. But this is what you’re born for. You’re born to take what’s yours, and Winter has been hogging it from you the whole time," Camilla said. "She isn’t supposed to own anything from Aiden."

Sebastian stared at his mother in silence for a long time before he said, "All of this pain and suffering only for money?"

Camilla frowned as she had a bad feeling about his response.

Why was he not crying?

Why didn’t he show the anger that he should have knowing Winter had robbed him of his money?

"What do you mean, Son? Don’t you want to take what’s yours?"

Sebastian sneered as he got up and put the wooden box on the table, "I know that you value money so much, Mom. But I didn’t expect you to bully an innocent woman for her wealth. I’m starting to regret ever listening to you in the first place."

"Sebastian Saenz! What are you talking about?! I’m doing everything for you! This is all to secure your future!"

"What future, Mom? A future where you have all the money after ruining someone’s life?" Sebastian laughed mockingly. "I feel stupid now. All of these for money, how pathetic."

"SEBASTIAN!" Camilla walked toward Sebastian while glaring at him. She raised her hand, ready to slap Sebastian to make sure that he behaved. But Sebastian suddenly grabbed her arm tightly, until Camilla winced in pain. "Sebastian, what is wrong with you? I’m your mother!"

"And I hate the fact that I have a greedy bitch like you as a mother," Sebastian said coldly. "I know you have been a terrible woman since I was young, but I still think that you want to raise me because I’m your son. Turns out, all the abuse you did to me when I was young, and forced me to marry Winter, is just for money."

"I did it for your own good!"

"It’s for YOUR own good. Do you ever ask me what I want? All I want is to have a small family who loves me. I don’t need more," Sebastian said. "And you failed to give me that, Camilla Saenz. Now I know that money is the only thing on your mind. There has never been me there."

Sebastian let go of her arm and turned around to leave through the front door.

"Where are you going, Sebastian? I’m not done talking to you!"

"But I’m done with you, Mom," Sebastian said. He didn’t look back as he didn’t want his mother to see his tears. He knew that Camilla would take advantage of his moment of weakness and manipulate him into being obedient.

Sebastian halted his step at the door and said, "From now on, you’re not my mother anymore, Camilla Saenz. Both my parents are dead now."
