Madam Wants To Divorce Her Second Husband-Chapter 134
Chapter 134: Chapter 134
Winter followed Sebastian who had a conversation with the prosecutor before the trial started. After he was done talking with the prosecutor, he turned back to Winter and asked, "Do you want to accompany me to meet with Camilla before the trial starts? She said she has something to say to me, but I don’t mind if you hear everything, since I have nothing to hide from you."
"I will come," Winter agreed. Honestly, she just wanted to make sure that Sebastian didn’t get manipulated by Camilla again. "I also want to know what she has to say."
Sebastian and Winter entered a room where Camilla had been waiting with a box in her hand. She darted her eyes at them, and the dark circles under her eyes were proof that the court process had taken a toll on her body.
Winter was astonished that she could see her mother-in-law in this state. In her previous life, Camilla felt like an invincible force that she could not beat.
She was like a nightmare for Winter, and no matter what Winter did, Camilla would always find a way to bully her for fun.
Thus, looking at Camilla’s haggard state was like an adrenaline shot for her, and she was unable to control her smile for a few seconds, which Camilla noticed immediately.
"You sure look happy to see your mother-in-law about to go to jail, Winter," Camilla sneered.
"Oh, pardon, sometimes it’s hard to hide my joy," Winter admitted without hesitation. She sat facing Camilla with Sebastian next to her. "Seb told me that you want to talk to him, so I tagged in as his wife. I can’t let my husband get influenced by someone he doesn’t know well enough."
Winter said that because she wanted to bait a reaction from Camilla, and as she expected, Camilla glared at Winter as if she couldn’t wait to strangle her in the next second.
Sebastian was on cloud nine right now. He was stern and cold when he came in, but now he was curling his lips before coughing to mask his joy and went straight to the point, "So, what do you want me to know?"
Camilla stared at her son with sadness in her eyes. It was honestly quite uncomfortable for him because deep down, he was still trying to harden his heart. He shouldn’t soften in front of a woman who ruined his and Winter’s life, even if that woman was his own mother.
"Are you the one who prepared everything, Sebastian?" Camilla asked, and Sebastian nodded as he admitted it. Camilla bit her lower lip, then asked again, "Why? What did I do wrong? You know I’m doing everything I can to give you a good life, right?"
"It’s not for me, Mom. It’s for you and your lofty ambition to have everything the Kirk family has, just because you were Rafael Kirk’s mistress," Sebastian said. "If you cared about me, you wouldn’t lash out at me when I was a kid. Do you think I don’t remember how you kept calling me a bastard’s son when I was young? And do you think I can’t recall every single time you slapped me in the face for even the smallest mistake?"
"You—are you angry at your mother just because I slapped you? It’s just a tough love! I’m doing it so you would be a strong man when you are an adult!" Camilla yelled.
"Yeah, I think I can manage well enough without the slaps," Sebastian said sarcastically. "And I’m sure you are not doing it because I did something wrong. You often beat me up when I asked about my dad’s identity. You’d also starve me whenever I’m not doing well at school. Do you think I need that kind of discipline? Or am I just a place to vent your frustration because you can’t marry Rafael Kirk, and you’re forced to raise an affair baby that will bring you no benefit?"
"You—" Camilla was speechless for a while. She then quickly shifted the blame at Winter by saying, "This woman has been influencing you, Sebastian. You should know that she doesn’t deserve anything that we are supposed to have!"
"No, mom. She deserves the inheritance more than I do because my half-brother specifically wrote her as the sole inheritor," Sebastian denied. "Stop trying to blame others. I have suffered since I was young. You deprived me of motherly love, beat me up whenever you felt like it to vent your frustration, and manipulated me into thinking that I have nobody but you."
"Because it’s true! You have nobody except me, Sebastian!" Camilla yelled again. "This little wife of yours will never love you, she will betray you eventually! Only I—your mother—can love you unconditionally!"
Sebastian’s heart was in so much pain right now. It ached terribly, making it hard for him to breathe. All the images of his mother abusing him since he was a kid flashed in his mind, and it was too much for him.
No matter how hard he convinced himself that he didn’t need his mother, the shadow of the abuse still lingered in his head. He was scared of being abandoned, scared of being left alone.
He was also scared that Winter would ditch her after he had successfully jailed Camilla.
After all, she had never explicitly promised to stay by his side or accept him back. She simply told him to deal with Camilla first, and then they could talk about reuniting.
Winter noticed his nervousness. She never thought that Sebastian had this kind of painful experience growing up, so she gently held Sebastian’s hand under the desk, which made the latter turn his head towards her.
Winter gazed at Sebastian and said, "I am by your side, Sebastian."
Sebastian held her hand tight and nodded, "I only need my wife in this life. She is the only reason for me to continue living. Even after you created hell for me, Mom."
